  1. Fear is great on all Dark builds. It is a strange control in that it reduces the number of times the enemies attack. Usually it comes with a fat to hit debuff on Dark. I assume the above reference is the presence pool.  Which i would pass on.

If nothing else, I'd say a dark/dark controller should be able keep almost any PUG alive pretty much single handily in most "regular" TF's.  So the downside is you wouldn't be able to post  one of your infamous PUG  stories while playing it...maybe...

    Badge Challenge Accepted!

So...you reach level 50. You do some incarnate stuff..grab some badges along the way. And yet, there's soo much left to do! But noone seems interested in grinding out ouro badges because..well, doing content without enhancements is just plain masochistic, and ultimately silly and pretty much stupid. Just for a badge or three? It's nuts.

I could suffer through it solo, I suppose. Maybe make a 2nd account with some travel power support, like a kin with inertial reduction and speed boost.
    But there's that dirty word..."Alt".

I really don't want to play alts. I want to play this character. But there's other powersets to explore.

Do I limit myself to x units of time for an alt...or x units of time for the primary?

Why did I think up "Wafer Thin Mint" as an alt name? I mean, what team is so full it doesn't have room for a wafer thin mint?

There isn't enough time in the day to do what I want to do!

I "somewhat" regularly do the Ouro Badges.

    I have two main strategies.

    1) level to the range you want to do +1 level.  This opens that range in Ouro.  Then do that content for the badges.  In this way you are affected very little by exemplar math.  which is gruesome below 30.

    2) level all the way to 50.  Then custom build an 'alt build" for each level range.  make one for level 10.  do all 10 or below content.  9most 9-, 7- etc)  Then Make a build for level 15, respec to that.  Do all 14-, repeat.

here is an example of a level 50 corruptor built for level 10- ouro.  the trick is to use sets that exemplar down to 7, and globals that work at that level as well.  Your damage will be lessened, but your survivability will be way up.  Until you get to the "no enhancer challenge"  use big inspirations then lol.

  4. How do Controllers do in Incarnate Trials and *Starred content 1/2/4.... ?  Everyone knows the meta there is 7 Corruptors and 1 Tank.  But other ATs do pretty good.  Blasters, um... something else will come to mind.  I know it lol.

i have not watched/definitely not experienced how the Controller AT does that deep into late game.  Any clues?  I have run a few Blasters through the mahor Task Forces to get a feel for powers.  Mostly Ice and Dark variations.  For this project was considering Dark Dark of course.

Oh, and as a control I am posting this same thread in Sentinels.  If Sentinels are all like "we do great" and Controllers are all like "We do great"  I know everyone is full of....um, misinformation lol.

Thanks in advance.  Your "friendly" neighborhood Snarky.

  5. Is this where I say I run 4 all the time in Summer Blockbuster?

If I form a team I want as many as possible.  My feeling is there is a "weak floor" and "strong middle management" on teams.  Then, if I am leading, an insane CEO.  The hope in recruiting is that you get a lot of the Mgt, and less of the floor.  But, unless you know the players through experience, you are shooting down a dark hallway. So, get more.  Always more.  A strong group of 3 can handle +4/x8.  So if we get those probably going to be fine with whatever crawls in to fill the other billets. The "comedy element"

Right, you lose 75% of the DEF value.  Despite that I still find the power useful in many of my characters' builds.  Like @Snarky I don't slot Stealth for DEF, other than with the LotG 7.5% piece.  I do use it as a mule for other procs/globals occasionally.  If I take this power, I am almost always taking it early in the build in order to be able to stealth missions when appropriate.  Combined with a Stealth proc in Sprint or some other travel power, a character is effectively invisible to most enemies.  That is worth more than the minimal unsuppressed DEF that the power grants - but that DEF does stack with other sources & can contribute to getting to softcap.

Exactly.  I tend to take Stealth early in a build.  For levelling or when Exemp'd down I have it.  Before Leadership Manuevers usually by 10-15 levels.  So I put a Kismet +to hit in it.  Since I run stealth constantly this gives a great bonus.  F-ing Gold.  Then when I get more enhancer slots and the build is not tight I add a LOTG.

in the description for Stealth it say that if you attack or are attacked you will loose some of your defense bonus. how much do you loose?

    most of it.

I run concealment stealth a lot.  With one LOTG 7.5% recharge /defense enhancer at 50 this gives 8.12% defense.  When I attack this goes to 2.03%

    Are branded character names  illegal?

On live I had a bit of a go with naming an energy blaster Zerg.  I had NO idea it meant anything, seriously.  Ask anyone that knows me, it's like I live in a tomb... errr.  Anyways I got generic'd, then petitioned for why, and after two weeks got "my" name.

Why did i want Zerg?  Erg is a unit of energy, and Zs are cool.  Zs are one of the reasons i took up studying german lol.  i am a glutton as well i guess.

If you care.... here is my Dark/Dark/Soul Blaster....  She's pretty sturdy despite minimal Def and Res - the debuffs and controls really excel!  I took Dark Consumption to use as another PBAOE damage attack, and in case some Sapper drains me.  😄  I also took Rune of Protection for those "Oh Crap" moments, although, those seem few and far between.

We took different powers, obviously, but maybe this will give you ideas for yours.

That is a way different build than mine!  Thanks.

Yeah, I prefer the double mag 2 stun (total mag 4) and then drive-by PBAoE chain.  Then pop out to range for most of my work.  I also have a ST Hold attack chain for things like Vickeys or other pesky EBs, LGTF, etc. I die surprisingly little considering I love to drift into a large group then hit Soul Drain/Blackstar.  But I know the fights and lean into my inspiration tray.

In case you overlooked it, the new Dark Mastery epics get Murky Cloud (F/C/E/N), not Dark Embrace (S/L/N/T) that defenders/corruptors get in their Dark Mastery. If you want Dark Embrace, go with Soul Mastery.

I actually want murky cloud, it looks way cooler.  But Soul Mastery is easily the better choice for my playstyle.  It gives me a nice DPS cone that fits my build style better and a solid hold (with the coolest and easiest to see affect).

I could arguably not take any armor since with just 6% def and a few percent armor in 4 types it is windshield armor.  My next but of research will delve into 1) how useful is it. 2) is there any power I can 1-2 slot and be better off taking?

  11. I keep trying to find a Dark Dark combo that is “it” lol.  One if the issues is vampires are so ill suited to almost anything. Luckily they are ill defined.

currently maining a Dark Dark Blaster.

    favorites?
Fire3 Blaster is THE meta.  So much power and fun. Good thing it has a rez.

AR/Dev Blaster.  This is a hoot, safe, but I prefer the Dark Dark.  Living on the edge with a PBAoE is just a…blast.
Dark Dark Corruptor.  Safer than the Blaster. Not as satisfying as the Blaster. I know it is more powerful than the Blaster.  But it lacks crunch.
I do not melee much at all anymore.  I feel the safety is unnecessary and the builds are so locked in.  Constricting. But I have a Dark Dark Brute with around 1450 badges.  Lets put that down as a favorite. It lives on the edge of sanity, depending on CoH oddball mechanics for 1/2 of its survivability.

  12. What you want are Task Forces at that level range.  There are  not a lot 40+, but 45+ there are a few.

Best news?  The Imperious Task Force.  This much loved Task Force is run regular in many variations, and is 35+.

To access Cimerora to do the ITF you need a badge.  Get that badge by going to Night Ward.  From the Base Portal in Night Ward look up at the mansion on the hill.  Go in the front door of that mansion and you get the badge.

To get to Cimerora go to any Midnighter Mansion besides that one.  Then go through the door upstairs  in the back.  Then use the crystal pillar middle of the tunnel intersection.

You want the +4 Kill Most ITF most preferably.

    Good Luck.

I am not a fan of Dark Mastery at all.  And just for the reasons you state, plus some.  Possess and Black Hole - just, no.  Fearsome stare, possibly, but as you stated, long recharge and also, it has inherent low ACC and takes extra slots just to get it to normal.  I am all for AOE controls on blasters, but I'd rather devote those extra slots to powers that do damage.

As for Soul Consumption - there is no need for it.  At least for me.  Most of my builds, I am near or at the HP cap, so the + Max HPs don't do anything for me.  Blasters already have unlimited End with their sustain power, so the +Max End is pointless.  The -regen and -end to foes is so minor, it's not even worth it as a debuff.  Maybe if it did some damage too, it'd be worth something.  If you do take it... don't bother slotting endmods in it... you already have more end than you'll know what to do with and you'll get better usage out of the +Max HPs. Slot it for a little Acc and mostly Heal and Rech.

I get far better usage out of Soul Mastery instead - all 5 powers are useful (3 of which do damage).  Dark Mastery has 1 (the shield) that's useful and maybe Fearsome Stare - and none do damage.

But if Soul is too far different than Dark for you conceptually, then I clearly understand and say go with it - concept always first, in my book.  🙂  Just swap out your endmod set in it for a heal set.

yeah.  you are right.  here is what it looks like with soul mastery.  not taking soul tentacles.  because they are white.  why?  no one knows.  but they can keep them.

Ok, I take that back. I reread the original post that Snarky posted and I did mention flippin a piece of glass flooring on top of another. Which would include maneuvering the item on its axis.

I apologize  for my arrogance. For me, I could do that when I was ready to place the item but i understand not everyone is me. You got me, Elfis. Good job.

yeah, i cannot flip for crap lol.  i have some truly unbelievable interactions with objects.  if you saw a video of it you would die laughing.

i may know what happened with the water though.  I saw these guys coming out of a base portal...

Time to make an Energy blaster named "Snarky's Bestie".

The only toon I ran in the mapserver event was an en ergy energy Blaster.  50d it in 3 hours, then in another 45 opened all incarnate slots except hybrid (3/4 open)  Havbe not played it since.  Beautiful power sets that you pay up to 9 enhancer slots worth of "KB->KD tax" to make it team useful.

I have an Archery/Sonic Corruptor.  This is for Explosive Arrow.

at a quick glance you could slot it Force Feedback: Acc/KB, Dam/KB, Rech/KB  Bombardment: Dam, Dam/Rech, Acc/Dam/Rech.

this gives +KB scraping ED, and Damage past ED

oh, and please dont play it on a team with me.  F-ing hate knockback, especially non directional "ball o knockback"

    If it was me....

I would slot this 4 Overwhelming Force, 2 Bombardment:

    Overwhelming Force: Acc/Dam, Acc/Dam/End, Acc/Dam/End/Rech, Dam/Kb->KD   Bombardment: Acc/Dam/Rech, Fire Dam Proc

the overwhelming force dam/knockback to knockdown proc flops anyone that would have been knocked across the room on their back.  just as helpless but in a nice neat pile.

This gives just as much crowd control, keeps enemies centralized for 1) you 2) teammates so AoE is more effective.  Does more damage as well

also, 2 or more bombardments in a power give a global +5% range increase.  and as archery that is nice.
