That's NOT what I said. That was me, being snarky. Someone mentioned alt votes before and I was just pointing out that it's not likely that EVERY vote for EVERY base "toured them all".
-
It was very hard to vote between the ones I saw. I didn't have the judges' rubric but had my own rubric. Was it easy to navigate? Did it have good RP features? Was it believable? The Crash one was number 3 on my list. :( But sadly we could only vote for one. I loved something about all of them but one.

Optimally, yes, and I ABSOLUTELY DID. But there's a lot of people who really aren't that interested in bases or contests but were willing to trust my judgment and screenshots to vote for a base's awesomeness! I personally toured EVERY base in the Community Choice category. There were a lot of nice bases. Some had issues with a 8' tall demon moving around. Some had features that were immersion-breakers. Some were just...in my opinion, kind of odd. But my friends were willing to trust my judgment because they either: a) did not have time to visit the bases for themselves, or b) had no interest in doing so but we're willing to take the time to validate MY choice because they liked the screenies, my descriptions, etc. and because they are my friends. Look at the number of folks who voted. I suspect there are a lot of folks just want to play the game without getting involved with bases. Some don't care for RP and thus most of the features of a well-built base are lost on them. But they still have accounts and thus votes - and as friends, were willing to support my love for my personal favorite RP destination. Do you think every alt account toured every base? ;)

Or a fan girl pinging and sending screenies to friends and asking them to vote for her fave. ;)

At the end of the day, Dacy, please remember that you will never be able to please everyone. As a relative used to tell me - there will always be those people who could be born with a silver spoon in their mouth and one shoved in their... ear, and they'd complain that those spoons weren't filled with marmalade. I think the contest was a fantastic opportunity for builders to show off their bases! I know I toured every one in the CC category and thoroughly enjoyed most of them. For all those who didn't win, there's always a next time. For the judges - wow! What a job I would not want and thank you for doing it. I've judged a Halloween costume contest for the past couple of years, and that is hard enough! I cannot even FATHOM - even with the rubric - having to judge between those bases! Thank you both for all the time you invest in making base building better for ALL OF US!

This was one of my favorites but wow, was it a lot of work. The sewer background is an awesome prop bought from one of my favorite artists, Stonemason (if you decide to try Daz, I recommend searching for him on the store). These three are DawL's daughter Sheken (redhead), her husband, Marcus, and their mate, the succubus known as Dark as Syn. All three of these were created originally on live and have been lovingly re-created on Homecoming. Sheken is a dark/psi defender. Marcus is a ninja/ninjitsu stalker, and Syn is a dark/dark/dark corruptor. Syn is probably my second favorite character, and thanks to a good friend doing a major overhaul on her build, she's a little beast now.

I can't post any of my namesake, VuDu DawL as she... well... she needs the "mature" label. This is another of Azazela who has always been my favorite since her creation. This portrays her after her death and "promotion" to being a guardian angel. I had a lighted mouse pad made of this piece for my desk.

Here are some old renders I did. All were rendered in Daz Studio, a free program from Daz3d.com (The program is free, the content to make the renders is for purchase. There are lots of freebies to be had - especially if you joined their premium "club" (used to be Platinum Club, now called Daz+), and you also get pretty nice discounts for what you pay for a yearly membership. I belonged to it for years, until nursing school ate my life and I had to give up all hobbies. This one was done once and then redone because I wasn't happy with the first one. It's of my main, Illusion/Empathy controller Azazela, from Liberty server (and now on Everlasting and Torchbearer here on HC). This was before her death at the hands of her firstborn daughter, when she was promoted to being a guardian angel. I'll post that next... The character was the Daz base female "Victoria" wearing the "supersuit" body suit with textures made by me using the designs from the in-game textures along with a lot of adjusting and hand painting details back in.

oh please, please put this on a COH billboard
DawL replied to voltaicsylph's topic in Art & Multimedia
Here is a link to a thread with links to the program I use (and have since live). The v1.3 build 350 is the one I use and I have many customized billboards. The ratios are as follows: Horizontal 4:1 512x128 (long and skinny, e.g. Pinnacle Apartments) Horizontal 2:1 512x256 (most rectangular, e.g. Chris Jenkins attorney) Vertical 1:2 256x512 (basic rectangle turned on its end, e.g. Major Flanders) Vertical 1:4 128x512 (long skinny, but vertical, e.g. Red Beast energy drink) Square 1:1 256x256 (square, e.g. Paragon City Pizza) When you use Splasher, it give you the choice of which billboards to use. There is a checkbox "Apply to all textures in the selected category" - if you want different billboards, make sure this is unchecked. Then just pick which billboard you'd like to replace with yours, making sure the ratio is the same one you used to create it. It's a good idea to fly around and note where the original ones are so you know where yours will appear. I have custom log in screens, zoning screens, and the background for character selection/creation. You will end up needing both versions (see instructions in the thread at the link I posted above - it explains everything). I *love* Splasher. Please note this is CLIENT SIDE only, so the only one who will see your changes is you, unless you get others with which you share your textures to install them as well. Have fun! ~ DawL -
I just respec'd a character, and afterwards was crafting recipes. I crafted all four and saw them appear in my tray, but still had the recipes. They show up and if I click the crafting table, will get a "create" button, but clicking it does nothing. I can also open the dialog with the vendor, and select and it makes the noise as if something is selling but inf does not increase and recipe is still in inventory. I suspect if I zone they will disappear so I think it's more a graphics bug than anything, but I thought I'd let you know.

I see some of your points. But there are almost always folks willing to help you out. I have a friend who plays normally, has SEVERE alt-itis, and runs many of his characters the hard way, playing the markets from an early stage to earn his way up. There are definitely ways to earn your way, with a bit of effort. I am sorry your team appears to have been making fun at your expense and laughing at you. Sending you a private message.

SBB is probably one of my favorites, but it sucks that it's limited to only 4 people. Hamidon is farmed MANY times a day, for the emps and merits and for some people (yay, me Saturday night), a gamble for a microfilament. And hey, when soloing a map in the AE, you don't have to worry about dealing with rude or insulting people.
-
I agree with you, but then, it also depends on who you ask. Obviously some folks think farmers are "wrong" and WANT them out. Sadly , whether intentional attempt or not, the end result will be the same. Exactly. And sometimes, from the standpoint of farmers, it kind of feels like it's those folks that drive the changes.

Hey there, I love CoH Modder but now I am getting a pop-up error message loading it. See screenshot attached. I managed to hold my enter key and click the remove button to get it in the 'uninstalled' window but the error repeats upon restarting the program. It hasn't let me access the 'delete' button in the uninstall section yet. It wouldn't even let me close the program because each time I closed the pop-up, it reopened so fast I couldn't click anything, even holding down the enter key. I killed it using Task Manager but am afraid to open it back up. :( Wasn't sure how else to contact you.

*IF* the data is easy to access and compile, it would be awesome to see a "year in review" type post with figures (graphs?) from the preceding year. That way it would be easily comparable, year to year. Just a thought. I understand that y'all are just volunteers and can only stretch so far so I understand if it's not doable. But it would be really cool.
-
Or demons. Lots of demons. I never farmed on live, yet had 4 active accounts for quite a while. One was my husband's, that he abandoned when he stopped playing and gave me, the other three were my own, created so members of my character's family could play together (all are my characters).

I was playing with a friend on one of my ill/cold dom controllers and was casting Frostwork on the brute. When we finished the mission and exited to the lobby of AE in Pocket D, I cast it again and oddly, the ice didn't "orbit" the character, it just stayed in a static location but seemed to spin on an axis. I sent a /petition in hoping it would include loc and other info. Just following up. My other ill/cd was casting on my own brute and it was displaying normally, with the little ice "rocks" orbiting in circles around the brute just like the fire and plasma shield animations do. The glitched version was on Indom.

Hi, I noticed the last few emails I have gotten to notify me of replies to threads I am participating in do not work. If I click the link in the email that says "Go to this Post:" it gives me an error page: (see attachment) Now I realize I am probably the oddball in the group, but I read all my email in plain text by default. The link appears to be valid as displayed in my email client, however it won't resolve. BUT - IF I SWITCH TO HTML - the link then shows as a button, and works correctly. Clicking the notification icon on any forum page will also show the same notification and gets me right to the comment, but it's easier to go from the email. I am sure this isn't a priority but wanted to let you know it's happening and also share the workaround (swap to HTML email instead of plain text) just in case someone else is having the same problem. Oddly, the links BELOW the notification link appear to work without swapping to HTML. I was able to click the "adjust your notification preferences" link and it took me to the correct section of my account settings, while still viewing the email as plain text.

That's an excellent point!

I have to wonder - since it's a two-way, permission based "friendship" - if the disappearance is from someone accidentally or intentionally un-friending (maybe to make room on THEIR list). I have had this happen even here on HC, even with less than the limit.
-
Agreed! If you have a lot of friends, it gets full way to fast. And especially with playing on more than one server. I play *mostly* on Everlasting but I do have friends on Excelsior that I play with, and a very close friend on Torchbearer that I play with, so I meet folks on all three. Just out of curiousity - I have never been able to count because the list "jumps" all the time as folks log off/on - what IS the current limit?
