Lockpick
This the Psy/Energy/Soul build I am leveling right now. Had some questions I hope someone could help with: I am only level 32, but endurance has been a major issue with this build due to all the toggles. Will Agility resolve or is this build going to be an End hog forever? I have slotted Health and Stamina with the procs and have the Atlas Medallion, but still having issues. Energy Drain is not yet slotted out, so maybe that will resolve the issues. Is Mass Confusion the right power for Assassin's Mark? Is the proc slotting in PB and TB ok or should I be using a set? Should I move slots from Boggle to Kinetic Dampening and/or Tough to shore up Resistance? Any other recommendations? Croax
Hi @Lockpick, that looks like a good build to me! Your endurance problems will be solved with Energize. Look at it as a Endurance reduction buff with some healing attached to it. Just keep hitting it and you will have no Endurance problems anymore. For the Sets in Psi Blade, Mass Levitate, Boggle and Tough. I would put the Assasin mark in PSI Blade 5 slot Armageddon in Mass Levitate with 1 Force Feedback proc for more recharge or -Res proc Fury of the Gladiator. Use the slots from boggle on Tough to get more S/L Resi (you will get the 5th 10% Recharge now from Armageddon) And do with Boggle whatever you want, since it is a "cute gimmick" power on stalkers. Also, if you have the Widow just for the set bonuses, maybe consider Soul Storm instead, because the basilisk gaze set could help you with just 4 slots on recharge and the missing defense in negative. This way you can have 2 slots more for something else. Another thing is the Greater Psi blade. it can hold the unbreakable constrain set to proc bigger damage than Gladiator strike. Kinetic Shield, Weave, Shadow Meld and Power shield are all 4 Luck of the gambler for the Acc bonus. Maybe you want to 5 slot it to get the big S/L resi? Since you will not be hitting Shadowmeld that much and it is great with only one slot Luck +recharge. you can use the 3 other slots to get roughly 12 % S/L resi out of the 5th Luck set bonus it and only loose regeneration, some HP and 9% Acc. Plz consider these all just suggestions. Your Build looks great as it is! And it will perform very well in Endgame content. These are just my opinion. I am making some adjustments based on your suggestions. I was actually curious about the Mass Levitate power and procs. I was thinking about just loading it up with 5 damage procs and FF + Recharge. My accuracy from set bonuses will give good accuracy and with Concentration I can probably hit ok. Any thoughts on this slotting compared to 5 Armageddon? I know procs are supposed to be good for ATs like Controllers and Defenders, but not sure if the math works out for Stalkers. I pulled out Armageddon and it doesn't look like I will need the 10% recharge. Hasten will still be perma as will the Widow and Energize will be close. Thanks for the tips. I may eventually try to create a PVP build for this guy and dip my toe into PVP.
Sir Myshkin
Saw your post over in the Defender thread, given the content I figured I'd come back to this thread to respond. 12 hours ago, Lockpick said: For my Psy/Energy/Soul build I was curious about slotting Mass Levitate power with procs. I was thinking about loading it up with 5 damage procs and FF + Recharge. My accuracy from set bonuses will give good accuracy and with Concentration I can probably hit okay. You can actually do quite a bit with Procs in your build, or any build for that matter, if you build for them, and not inclusively of them. You mentioned in the other thread how you were going after Agility, but as Bopper pointed out it actually hurts you to take that Alpha, and you honestly have absolutely no need for it in your build. I looked at the overall stats you started with (it's all pretty solid ground work), but there are definitely some areas that could be improved. I tweaked the build a bit, moved some slots around and also adjusted some expectations of abilities based on my experiences with the powers. You have some really big opportunity with Greater Psi Blade and Mass Levitate, and your ST chain rotation is solid without fanning extra Rech enhancement into attacks when it's not necessary. I left Hecatomb plugged into Psi Blade since that power has a low probability for procs anyway (so floor it and shoved a high-yield one in there), and the AT set in AS is find (almost necessary), but GPB and TB I tweaked to balance enhancement choice and pack some more procs in. GPB needs just 4.5/s to recharge in in order to have a gapless chain (PB > TB > AS > GPB). You have Overload in the build, but with Energy Drain and Shadow Meld, not really seeing what use you'd have for it; you didn't even try and use it as a mule? I'd honestly take that power out and swap for Combat Jumping for better maneuverability while running SS. I don't see any situation you'd warrant needing Overload otherwise. I'll post the build below, but I added a bunch more S/L resistance, balanced out the defense and slot use, and gave you some more global recharge. I also swapped Agility for Musculature (Could go Core or Radial, either one. Radial would bump Energy Drain a little). I was going to add another Rech IO to Concentration, but with two FF+Rech procs in the build, and the pretty decent chance for Mass Levitate to proc that BU recharge in a full spawn, the 3/s it would've gained didn't seem worth the investment. Croax
My Experience with proc on Stalker has been, that procs can add to your damage but i would not go so deep into it. Maybe one or two in GPB is enough. Heca 5 + Unbreak. Const. should do the trick. You can go on the test server and hit a pylon with different setups. I did it once for Freezing touch and GPB. The result was that if you consider crits from the powers you will allways be better with 5 heca 1 Unbreak. I have not saved the data unfortunately. Keep in mind that stalkers are high damage AT. Do not compare them with Defenders. If you get 85,6 bonus damage from a purple proc it is good. 56 damage from the normal procs will hurt your overall dps if you go so heavy on them. (I don't remember the exact values anymore). More than just a Ninja - A Guide to Stalkers Croax's Tier List and Build Collection
Erydanus
Yeah like, Mass Levitate should actually be treated as the ridiculous damage power it is not a proc dumping ground. I've just put the Force Feedback proc in it and I'm evaluating it but after the trials I ran this weekend I think it's going to be replaced with a damage proc; the other 5 slots are normal attack power slotting. Frosticus
In a lot of cases I'd agree. With super high dpa attacks like freezing touch getting them cycling as fast as possible is beneficial and focusing on procs to the point you need to inject another attack into your chain more than likely hurts you in the long run. At the same time you often want your heavy hitter to line up with AS for the crit from hide proc. but you dont want too much rech in AS cause of said proc. There is a lot going on with stalkers from a min-max standpoint. They are cool. As for mass levitate (or other similar attacks) you have to decide whether you want to spam it or just use it once per spawn. Basically solo I'd lean toward damage and rech. Teaming I'd lean toward damage and procs. Lockpick
Thanks for all the replies. I do appreciate it. I slotted ML with 5 Armageddon and the FF proc as a default while I figure out adjustments to the build. 20 hours ago, Sir Myshkin said: You have Overload in the build, but with Energy Drain and Shadow Meld, not really seeing what use you'd have for it; you didn't even try and use it as a mule? I'd honestly take that power out and swap for Combat Jumping for better maneuverability while running SS. I don't see any situation you'd warrant needing Overload otherwise. I think this is a good point. I rarely use it and when I do it is when I am very large groups and starting to take hits. I use it as opposed to SM, which I have only used once. If I get rid of Overload I would use SM more. I slotted Overload with the 2 recharge to lower the recharge time with the idea Agility would also help with the recharge. I looked at other slotting (3 LotG), but the recharge seemed better at the time. 20 hours ago, Sir Myshkin said: I'll post the build below Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time. I think I am going to take your build and try it out on the test server or just do a second build on this character. I am really interested in how it performs. 20 hours ago, Sir Myshkin said: Agility for Musculature Going into my build I was planning on Musculature, but with all the toggles I was having major endurance issues. I decided to go Agility because I liked that it had positive impact on 3 key areas (End, Recharge, and Defense). I felt the Damage for each power would be fine because each core power was already past the ED on damage. Also, wanted the extra recharge to perma-Hasten, perma-Widow, and close to perma-Energize. Haven't been impressed with the Widow though, she seems to fold like a cheap suit when I pull her out. Might pull out Widow and switch to something else. 6 hours ago, Frosticus said: As for mass levitate (or other similar attacks) you have to decide whether you want to spam it or just use it once per spawn. I will go into a group and Concentration-GSB-APB-ML-Void. My current build is listed below and what I have on Live. Thinking about switching Placate to Assault and will probably make other adjustments based on the suggestions here. Thank you all for your feedback; I really appreciate it! The result was that if you consider crits from the powers you will allways be better with 5 heca 1 Unbreak. I have not saved the data unfortunately. If the global recharge is present in a build to get the core recharge of a power down to optimal cycling time, then slotting a full set into an ability just for set-sake is actually detrimental to build performance, which is the key factor I was outlining. In Lockpick's case, there's 190% global active with considerably perma-Hasten which naturally drops a power like Greater Psi Blade to its optimal 4.5/s recharge. It is actually possible to have so much recharge present that an ability cannot be reduced any further. By utilizing the remainder of those slots for procs creates both a better probability for the ability to proc, and creates more free damage. With Musculature core and even just one purple damage IO +5'd, the attack will hit ED on damage enhancement. By using those first two slots to manage accordingly, it's pretty easy to get your Acc/Dam/End needs in two slots and fill the rest with procs. You don't need 5-6 slots to hit cap damage enhancement. 30 minutes ago, Lockpick said: Going into my build I was planning on Musculature, but with all the toggles I was having major endurance issues. Haven't been impressed with the Widow though, she seems to fold like a cheap suit when I pull her out. Might pull out Widow and switch to something else. You already have a ridiculous amount of recharge in the build, and I found a place to bump that up to 190% still, Agility for the Rech component isn't changing hardly anything at all for you (we're talking 1-2/s in larger cooldowns, and .0#/s in lower cooldowns). The Endurance component over-caps Stamina... and that's about it, and the defense aspect is all over-capping areas where you're already covered. Energize should be easily fixing your endurance issue if you keep it actively perma versus only using it when you want healed. It's 50% endurance cost reduction is a huge way for you to stay globally end positive. You also have Energy Drain which, in a mob of 3-4, is going to fill your endurance bar every 20/s. It's about using the tools you have at your disposal on a regularly basis. You shouldn't be experiencing any endurance issues with Energy Armor. If you still wanted the extra push, do the Radial version which gives you end modification too. Utilizing Musculature lets you simplify your slotting and over-cap your damage across all of your attacks since it lets you extend beyond ED, so even with the few powers that could/would have full sets in them (Hecatomb, as an example), it'll still give extra push because of the ED shift. Also, that FF+Rech proc if you have it in Mass Levitate there's a strong chance to have that proc fire off at least every few spawns. If you can get that proc to fire just once in 60/s, you'll dump Energize below 30/s and have it perma down from the ~2/s it had a gap in the build I posted. If you spam ML and get that proc to go off several times, you'll be able to shrink the recharge on Shadow Meld to ~22/s which is kind of a huge plus.
