Bio/Staff tank looking for help making final build

Not worried on travel powers but Combat Jump is always nice.  I'm just loving this toon Blood Brother on reunion and am now 46.  I'm looking for help to make this guy as tough as possible so he can tank anything in game but I suck on sets and still new to incarnate system.  Been using a dark/staff build as reference but I want to hit caps as best as possible.  Thanks in advance if someone could help me here.

I have 0 experience with Staff. Maybe I need to change that...🤔

Bio...pretty much every power is important and you'll want to take. I have a bio/rad tank and he's nigh indestructible. I took tough/weave and Maneuvers to bump everything up just a wee bit more.

I'm not at my PC, but I can post my build if you want. (I use Mids reborn and it never posts powers/slots/IOs...just a link. Wish I could figure out why)

I'd appreciate it.  Leveling I referenced in mids a Dark/staff tank and a Bio/Spines tank and ended up taking all powers, although the ranged Serpent's Reach one I see as a power just for slotting and thus not as important. The DA/Staff one used it for 6 slot Superior Winter's Bite, so seems good anyways.   Staff has 7 attacks and I find in end I use 6 of them (current Serpent's being kept off in a corner) and then taunt and it works well even if a bit of a spread of 1-7 keys.  I attached the DA/Staff build for reference for you.  I'd attach the other but you know Bio well it seems.  Bio is the bomb!  New favorite defensive set even over Shield and WP which were my old gotos on live.

I'm open to any epic pool as long as it helps either for aggro or hitting caps.  I just really love this combo and want him to be his best but I'm so new back I am lost on making a final build.  If you could tweak your build for staff, I'd love ya forever.

Hope fully you can see this. Here's my build on my Bio/Rad Tank.

In OFFENSIVE stance, here's his stats:

DEFENSE:

Smash/Lethal 39.2

Fire/Cold 51.3

Energy/N. Energy 47.8

Psi 32.9

Melee 38.6

Ranged 22.6

AoE: 26.7

RESISTS

Smash/Lethal 76

Fire/Cold 24.5

Energy/N. Energy 26

Toxic 56.8

Psi 13.8

Regenerating 96.3 hp/sec and has 2734 HP

In DEFENSIVE Stance:

DEFENSE:

Smash/Lethal 49.2

Fire/Cold 59.9

Energy/N Energy 56.5

Psi 38.1

Melee 38.6

Ranged 22.6

AoE 26.7

RESISTS:

Capped Smash/Lethal (93.08)

Fire/Cold 33.6

Energy/N Energy 35.1

Toxic 73.9

Psi 22.6

Regenerating 96.3 HP/Sec and has 2902 HP.

I went for set bonuses that increase Regeneration and HP mainly, then added in some defense/resist. It may not be the absolute best, or a "Proc Monster", but I don't die. I hold aggro, and live...which is what tankers do. Damage isn't bad either 😜

I think this was something I was working towards, but I got distracted:

How is staff anyway? Haven't tried it out yet.

I love it!  Like Bio it has 3 forms, so together u have a lot of flexibility.  Every move builds up a counter that feeds into an aoe (Eye of the Storm) and a single attack (Sky Splitter) at 3 for additional damage and effect based on what Staff Form u are using.  Together I found leveling really easy, although I attribute that more to the amazing power of Bio Armor.  Staff has 3 aoes, which means I need to taunt less optimally thanks to gauntlet.  Eye of the Storm has a great animation that is a bit long but fun to watch as it is very cappoeira style, so I call it my Disco Spin.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.  This is exactly what I was looking for.  I like how DNA Siphon is a proc monster.

What Alpha did you go for?  Musculature, Vigor and Resilent all seem viable.  I want to be tank first, so figuring musculature is the least useful since damage is less important than survivability.

I actually took Musculature bc I found I didnt really need any of the other buffs (defense, resist, etc). Recharge would be helpful just to get your powers back quicker.  I suppose if you wanted to go overboard you could swap it for another to gain defense and recharge.

Xandyr, i tried to copy your build in Mids reborn, but i only got to 400% regen...do you have a mids link i could check out?  Thinking its just a bug.

Do you have Parasitic Aura active when looking at totals? And/or set at a number of targets in the Info window? Parasitic Aura adds massive regen per target hit so that is likely it. Also DNA Siphon adds regen per target hit, so you'd need to a set a target number on that, though its a smaller effect per.

Check and see if you have DNA Siphon and Parasitic Aura clicked on. As was stated, Parasitic can add a LOT of regen based on # of targets hit.

I also think some of my enhancements are boosted.

And I now have like 5 Staffers...Staff may not be considered the "best" or the most damaging,  but it is just FUN. And with the Tanker's added ranges/targets, you hit everything. I think my favorite Staffer is my Staff/Bio brute (although Fire/Staff tank has DOTs for DAYS).

@Xandyr I recently got a Staff/Bio Brute to 50 and am trying to pull together a build from what was shared above. Would you be willing to share yours?

I'm loving the combo - thematically I so want to keep spirit Shark instead of Serpent's reach, but not sure its worth it. 🙂

Here ya go. With Bio, keep in mind that your Resistances will kinda stink, but you can soft cap most of your typed defenses. Plus, with Ablative, DNA Siphon, and Parasitic Aura, you can stand up to most anything thrown at you.

I've really gotten into my WP/Staff Tank. I like the extra range and # of targets that Tanks can hit. Plus, it's a welcome change of pace not having to click on your heals...WP is a nice "set and forget" powerset.

@Xandyr

Thanks! I have a WP/Titan tank stalled at around lvl 40 - the animations are just SO SLOWWW. Have seen an Invuln/Staff in action and she seems pretty strong too (in that it is also set and forget).

Maybe I will dust him off my old tank again too.

On my first respec experimenting with this, I don't have maneuvers, or an epic pool. I ended up working in Spring Attack for fun and a proc. With that and the 3 staff KB powers I have 4 Force Feedback recharge procs going which helps a little to keep those healing powers up and available.

Every move builds up a counter that feeds into an aoe (Eye of the Storm) and a single attack (Sky Splitter) at 3 for additional damage and effect based on what Staff Form u are using.

On my Rad/Staffer I used the other stances a bit while leveling but I hardly ever am out of Form of Body these days now that my build is complete.

Form of Body's Sky Splitter bonus gives +13.3% res(ALL) to a Tanker for 15s making the "damage" stance for Staff, ironically, the most defensive.  And it's easy to keep that rolling if you want.  I put MoT in Eye of the Storm and use it as a builder instead of a finisher.  So MoT procs two or three times reliably for 12 to 18% res(All).   That's a whopping 25.3 to 31.3% +res between them.  On my Rad/Staffer this caps everything but Cold resist and makes it that much harder for anything to eat my Absorb shield before it refreshes.   Gauntleted Fist went in Guarded Spin, so it too has a decent chance to add a bit of absorb to what I already have in Particle Shielding.

Staff's AoEs were generously sized to begin with so the Tanker inherent just makes them huge (for melee anyway).  Eye of the Storm is as big as Foot Stomp, a little faster to recharge, and available at 16 instead of 38 which I love because I exemplar a ton.  Easily gets and keeps the attention of an entire spawn just by itself.  And if used as the finisher it deals -10% res, so while I leave my Staff Mastery set on Form of Body all the time, I kind of switch between offensive and defensive "mode" just by deciding which one to use as the finisher.  Sky Splitter if I want to be tougher.  Eye of the Storm if I want to deal more damage.

I think what keeps a lot of people from trying Staff is it just doesn't "feel" like it's doing a lot of damage.  It's not a slow set that deals big orange numbers.  It's fast and tends to deal it's damage as short duration DoTs.   It's decent damage.  Maybe middle of the pack.   But it feels like less.

I simply can NOT get into Titan Weapons. It's just so freakin slow.

I'm sure Invuln is great, but I can't get into it either.  As far as tank primaries, I love WP, Rad, Bio, and Dark.

And you're welcome. Hope my build gave you some ideas.
