GoldenAvariel Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Null the Gull has an option to nullify the speed portion of some powers. I'd like to add The Fool (from Mystic Fortune) to that list. I personally don't care, it's the -Acc I dislike, but my wife cannot handle having her character sped up. I told her about Null the Gull and now she's happily safe from kinetics and rads but the Fool was the main reason she went there on every one of her characters. Now she's going back to Null in order to auto-refuse Fortunes on her characters. So yes, she has a way around it, sort of, but it would be nice if she didn't have to completely refuse a fun round of buff roulette. 1

You have to wait out the 20 minutes if you want to get rid of it. You can already auto-decline Mystic Fortune through Null, however that will block all fortunes and not just The Fool, which is arguably the only fortune that can actually cause problems (you can be killed by The Tower, but you have to actually try to do that). Maybe The Fool just needs an adjustment so that it's not a problem if you happen to get it. FrauleinMental Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 The problem with either cancelling or selectively auto-declining a specific fortune is that you'd effectively be allowed to reroll (redeal) the fortune within the 20-minute duration if someone hit you again with the power. The random nature of the power is its own cost. I could almost see allowing something like this but triggering a "blank" Mystic Fortune with a 20-minute duration just to prevent redealing. But even that takes some of the risk out of the power.

But The Fool already has a downside of the reduced accuracy/to-hit (whatever it is) along with the+Speed. I'd just like to be able to override the +Speed but keep the rest of it, like the way the other +Speed powers are treated by that option in Null the Gull. It seems more like an oversight than anything else. I guess the same for Secondary Mutation. I know it has a +Speed but not sure if that comes with any sort of downside... doesn't seem like it. The "bad" random for that temp power is turning you into a monkey but that only lasts a minute or less. Edited July 3, 2020 by GoldenAvariel
