Firestations

I was just pondering that there are no firestations in Paragon, at least as far as I can see, nor any fire engines/trucks.  So why not?  Where does the Fire Marshal come from/go to before and after the fire event in Steel Canyon?  And more importantly if there WERE firestations then how about we be able to buy the fire extinguisher temp power there?  Yeah, I know REAL firestations don't let you do this, and frankly you could add it to the P2W or to Wentworth's, but actually having a firestation building would be an extra bit of color to the cityscape.  

 

And I do mean BUY the power from them.  I know the Marshal just hands them out but that's part of the deal, the fire is ongoing at the time.

 

And even if you can't/couldn't buy the temp power I think there should at least BE some firestations in Paragon.

They were removed with the inclusion of Water Blast.

 

There were mass layoffs as heroes pretty much made the fire department redundant.

Honestly, it's a post-(/ongoing-)war city.  They should probably have full-blown Disaster Response Centres all over the place, not just fire stations.

Maybe they're housed inside the Warwalls?

Superhero realities often seem to operate more like the politics are ancient Greek city states more than modern-world nations. 

That said, the city has offices for five federal paranormal agencies, six if you consider FBSA separate, Longbow, Vanguard, Wyvern, Midnight Society, the UN, and a few other things.

There's an overabundance of Federal and/or even Global level organizations with their noses in the city.

Yeah, but where are the ones that actually fix the City?  Supers can't punch poverty.  And when they're off fighting Doctor Vasectomy who puts out the fires apart from that one brave Fire Marshal?

Actually, I have a whole series of Blueside characters who I roleplay as working primarily as community outreach and operate in a capacity to reduce poverty and resource disparity.  Would be nice if there was something in the game for them to do to reinforce that, though.

There's lots of construction going on, it just looks like they haven't bothered to identify the group doing that. Maybe the FBSA is responsible for superhuman related collateral?

I'll say this, CoH is substantially less dystopian than either Marvel or DC.... though Sentinels Comics has it beat... but then Sentinels Comics is almost utopian.

 

The Wraith (their Batman expy) basically decided "You know, I bet I can do more good with money, social engineering, and educating new heroes than I can by putting on a costume and doing the front lines thing." And their dark and edgy group does community outreach.

I've wondered about this myself before. It's a very legitimate question I think is worth some consideration.
