What it lacks in damage, it makes up for in chaos? (build feedback)

Hey there folks!  First real try at a defender build, and I've always loved the idea of Storm.  Now I do realize that this build doesn't have a ton of damage, but it does have lots of slows, knockdowns, and holds.  I've managed to cap M/R/AoE defenses, and got some very good resists squeezed out of it.  Let me know what you all think!  Thanks for takings a look.

Teams will hate you unless you are very careful with Lightning Storm and Thunder Strike.

Honestly, I haven't found this to be the case. I think this is partly because storm is just that good at controlling the field but also it's so hard to see what's happening with two lightning storms, a freezing rain, a tornado and whatever else is going on that no one will ever know.

Also, fly up a bit before casting lightning storm as that controls the angle of knockback.

Remember to fly up before casting LS would fall under being careful. 🙂

If you run into a nice pack and Thunder Strike. Folks will notice

Being good with KB is a very useful skill. It does take practice.

Sudden Acceleration KB > KD fixes the knockback inconvenience.

Yeah, but so does jumping before you cast it so it's slightly higher (and therefore pointing the knockback down) without costing a slot.

That's true, but only if things stay packed below it. If they start scattering (for whatever reason) then you'll start spreading them even further.

3 Thunderstrike, a Forced Feedback proc, Sudden Acceleration and one IO of your choosing (I went with another proc but a Dam/End from some other set would work nicely too) is my own preferred slotting for Lightning Storm. For a Defender, with your lovely Vigilant Assault 3 set bonus (my Domi hates you by the way) maybe 3 of those instead.

That way I can just drop them where ever I like without worrying too much.

Your defenses are excellent here but your damage really looks like its suffering. Personally, since you're a hoverer anyway I'd consider sacrificing some of the S/L defense for damage. You're not a Tank so you really shouldn't need to be that tough.

Also with that amount of toggles you're really going to suffer for End, even with your fully slotted Health & Stamina. Storm is incredibly End tight. Might be worth considering Power Sink at 49 rather than Snow Storm (you'll need to find the slots for it though). Or replace Shocking with it.

Bitter Ice Blast does great DPA. On my Blaster I went with it over Bitter Freeze Ray, just because BFR is slooooooow to cast.

Tornado is another good source of damage, and Freeze Ray is your highest DPA attack so I'd slot that for damage. The hold is a nice bonus but you're a defender so even slotted up the Hold duration isn't going to be great.

Pretty awesome tip, thanks. Did not know this.  I wonder if jumping when casting is high enough to make this work (I don't have hover on my toon).

Other fun tip I learned from @Sir Myshkin -- the Decimation chance-for-build-up proc in Lightning Storm almost always triggers when you cast LS, meaning you get 5 secs of Build-Up to power your next attacks (that can include your nuke, your hard-hitter STs, etc.).

Thanks for the feedback everybody.  I ended up switching a few things around, ended up with a little less recharge, a tiny bit more Ranged defense and End Rec.  Also swapped for 2 slots into Power Sink.  Hopefully with this the end issues will be solved (with out requiring incarnates.)
