WanderingAries Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I figured this would be safe here as "PC" stands for "Personal Computer", not (just) "Windows Computer" Why not have a place here where we can talk about Virtual Systems now that they've become more common, right? Here's what I've got going: (Most to least used) Host 1: Spoiler VM System Used: Parallels v16 Standard VMs in Service: MacOS 11.x Big Sur 11.2 11.1 11.0.1 11.0 (Release Edition) 10.x 10.15.7 Catalina 10.14.6 Mojave 10.13.6 High Sierra 10.12.6 Sierra 10.11.6 El Capitan 10.10.5 Yosemite 10.9.5 Mavericks 10.8.5 Mountain Lion 10.7.5 Lion Windows 10 Live (Actively used) 20H2 (October 2020) 2004 (May 2020) 1909 (November 2019) 1903 (May 2019) 1809 (October 2018) 1803 (April 2018) 1709 (Fall Creator's Update) 1703 (Creator's Update) 1607 (Anniversary Update) 1511 (November Update) 1507 (Release Edition) 8.1 8 7 Vista This machine gets a lot of usage for work (mostly screen shots and function testing) even though it's only a side task of my main workflow. It has Greatly improved the quality of what I create as trying to grab things from the internet becomes awful due to people posting poor resolution images or marking them all up, causing me to previously have to edit the images heavily. Host 2: Spoiler VM System Used: Parallels v16 Beta VMs in Service: Windows 10 ARM Beta v21301 (Master copy for cloning) v21301 (Testing copy) Similar to Host 1, this one is gaining traction for work, but mostly because of the M1 hardware and testing. I'm hoping that Parallels breaks the seal on how to actually create the new Mac booting system virtually because it's preventing me from doing the level of testing I want to do in MacOS. As of right now, you can't install even Big Sur in the VM because of that limitation (you get a platform compatibility error). Host 3: Spoiler VM System Used: Virtual PC 7(?) VMs in Service: XP Mode (SP3) within Win7 This was Supposed to be a triple boot (Win7, MacOS, Linux), but the more I played with that, the more things "broke", so I stuck with the isolated dual boot setup (Win7/Win10 isolated within the custom BIOS configs the MB allows for). As you can expect, I have a knack for pushing each platform, but at the same time, I'm learning more about the world of VMs as I go. 1 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica!
