WiFry Fire/Regen Glass Cannon-ish Build

Murcielago

Recommended Posts

The intent that I'm going for is maximum recharge, hp, regen in that order. This build does not focus on trying to layer damage mitigation and its sole intent is to heal and regenerate (read click) as fast as possible. I have never built a scrapper with so much +recharge before. This isn't meant to be a god-tier performing character but to play to regen's design and not face plant too much. I guess I should probably figure out how to take revive lol.

My first thought is, if you can perma Dull Pain, why work on the +HP bonuses?  Dull Pain will max your HP.

Maybe get that 6th slot in Cremate for the 6% S/L Resist.

Hasten you can two slot and +5 those RCH IOs and move that third slot.

Invisibility is a travel power (Infiltration) now, did you know that?  Since I see you took Super Speed too.

Power Transfer ENDMOD & Proc IOs with Performance Shifter Proc in Quick Recovery and Stamina gives more regen.

Hecatomb I'd move to Incinerate or Greater Fire Sword.

You are over slotted in some areas

Quick Recovery - 1 slot, you only lose .25 .  endurance consumption is 1.03, your endurance recovery is 3.5.  You won't burn up endurance that fast and if you are wheezing, then your damage sucks.

Integration - 2 slots regular IO, almost same amount unless you +5 boost it.

Hasten - 2 slots, 180% recharge and its perma

You are chasing piss ass +HP bonuses, you don't even look at Unbreakable guard which is roughly +100 hps by itself vs +20.

Fireball - Find a free slot, put a Gladiators -Resist in it.  AoE and its increasing your DPS for a few seconds.

Focus on +resist over HP, but don't go all over the place looking for bonuses.  Reducing the incoming damage can allow the regen to catch up, with dull pain alone you are pretty much maxed out on hitpoints.

I'll look into those but I don't want resistance or defense. I'm trying to build on regen's regeneration and healing.

I forgot about the change to Concealment. Did they ever update MR?

I have a fire/regen scrapper built along much the same philosophy, although not quite as extreme or expensive a build as this.  The character absorbed most of the melee purple sets, because my other melee characters lose more than they gain by slotting them.  The character isn't my main scrapper, but the build works well in several cases:

- Hami raiding, where resistance and defense count for very little.   Helps that she flies.

- Shadow Shard TFs, where poorly resisted damage types are flying.  Helps "   "  "   "

- The exemped down content where Regen shines generally.

Layered defense.  100 incoming lethal  damage, 20 resist from Tough, negate to 80.  Your regen is 40, 2 seconds to regain that 80 back.  Push lethal to 30 resist, now it's 1.75 seconds, surplus of .25 seconds and 10 hit points to deal with the next 100 damage.

Not saying cap resist, but its very common with little investment.  Where as yoy are chasing every 23 hps and .25 regen with a pretty hefty invest.  Focusing some on resit, allows you to focus on more recharge, which could allow faster Dull Pain and the heal click to come back.  Passive +regen and tiny +hp bonuses has very little return on investment compared to that, as Dull Pain alone is a huge increase in hit points to the cap.

At least build SOME slow resistance. All that recharge and you'd still get wrecked with a few slows on you.

Ignoring layered mitigation through defense/resists, slows are the bane of regen. Even more so here as you are even more dependent on clicks to survive.

I understand layered defense, that's what my dark/shield namesake is for. I am chasing a certain playstyle rather than traditional min/maxing.

For some reason I can't open both builds posted in this thread. But for a pure regen build, make Dull Pain perma and keep it on auto. Slot Dull Pain with as little as possible and with it active, should be just enough to cap your HP (2410 hp). After basic stuff like recharge and endurance management, pour the rest of the slots/IOs into regen bonuses.

Try to get five +10% and +12% regen bonuses. As many +16% as possible (Will need to split Apocalypse set). Pounding Slugfest and Power Transfer are great for +6% and +8% bonuses. I would skip the +4% bonus but you can probably squeeze a couple in your build, maybe the Triage IOs.

For pure regen, I would go with Soul Mastery or Body Mastery. Soul has Dark Blast, Moonbeam, Soul Storm and Summon Widow and with split Apocalypse and Soulbound, adds +64% regen. Body Mastery with Apocalypse in Laser Beam Eyes, and aggressively slotted Physical Perfection, will probably get around +110% regen. Though imo, SM has more useful powers during gameplay.

Pure regen is actually pretty playable, especially with incarnate powers. Instant Heal with a 50% up/down time, Melee Radial Hybrid with a 50% up/down time, Regen Radial Destiny 100% up time with diminishing return. I skipped Shadow Meld and don't use MoG at all, but it's paired with Ninja Blade and has some defense/resistances built in. I'm pretty much the only one who doesn't flee Marauder's Nova Fist in the Lambda.

Slot Superior Avalanche and/or Overwhelming Force procs into Fire Sword Circle to add a bit of KD mitigation. Also the Ragnarok proc if you took Fireball, Energy Torrent or any of those other TAoE Epic/Ancillary powers.

Also slot the Panacea unique and as many Power Transfer procs as possible. I did some testing and their heal per second averages out to be better than Numina and Regenerative Tissue/Impervious Skin uniques.

Data chunkies for all the builds, please.

  • Thumbs Up 2

That sounds like fun

You don't want the purple set in Scorch.  You want it in Greater Fire Sword or Incinerate.  You can move the 3rd Recharge IO from Hasten to Stamina and put a Chance for Heal Proc in Stamina.

Then +5 those Recharge IOs in Hasten.  It'll put you at 118 second recharge on Hasten.

Take Triage out of Physical Perfection.  Put a Heal IO in Fast Healing and you'll go from 777% Regen to 788% Regen.

You'd get more Regen replacing the Numina Heal/Recharge IO in Health with a regular Health IO.  You don't need to chase +HP Bonuses, as Dull Pain is maxing out your Hit Points all on it's own, and it's perma.

I should say, at 798.66% Regen, you get 74.9 HP/Sec

At 743.97% Regen on my EM/Regen, I get 74.69 HP/Sec Regen

HOWEVER...made another change for you...got rid of the Heal IO in Physical Perfection and put Impervious Skin Unique in Resilience,

Puts you at 817.78% Regen for 76.69 HP/Sec

It would seem at some point, the return on Regen isn't worth chasing.

Also, for your information, keeping the EndMod Power Transfer IO in Stamina gives better regen than a +5 Heal IO in Physical Perfection.  So, I'd leave that there for more End Rec.  Which you have a lot of.

Do you usually get incarnate powers? The build would change drastically if so. Moved some slotting, swapped IOs around with Spritual Alpha/Melee Hybrid in mind. It has a passive regen of +986%, around to 99 hp/s. Five of every regen bonus is packed in except for +16%.
