Mister Britain Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I was wondering if Demo Record worked on Homecoming and if so is there a tool to view them like there was many years ago? I'm wanting to grab some screenshots and this is apparently the best way with CoH/CoV.
Lunchmoney Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 No idea what that is. I use the Print Screen button my keyboard and it saves screenshots in the screenshots folder. The UI windows are automatically removed. Here's my screenies https://photos.app.goo.gl/xTBqZwwYFH1TM23P6 If I were interested in a video I'd just use the recorder in Windows or Nvidia. I used to play under the handle @Purple Clown, back on Live. Now I play under @Lunchmoney I'm in the UK and play on Reunion.
GamerKate Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 You can also bind a new key to take a screenshot, if like my keyboard Prtscrn needs a function key pressed as well. MCM
Wolf Bonne Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 /demorecord and /demostop work, the file for it is located within the same directory as where you have the game installed. This guide should work https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Demo_Recording If I were interested in a video I'd just use the recorder in Windows or Nvidia. Demos are their whole thing, it is a capture of the game using a text file that you then play through the client. As such, it's incredibly small and easy to look through and edit. For instance, that cool costume you saw? You can literally copy and paste it. Twitter

Vanden Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Demos are also a good way to put together videos that would be hard or impossible to make happen in the actual game, which you could then use for, say, a forum avatar. Mister Britain Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 Is there a Demo Record tool though like there used to be or has that been lost forever? Also for those unsure as to what you can do with Demo Record please check the link provided above. You can also turn your character into any of the NPCs or player owned characters with it, such as Statesman. If I were interested in a video I'd just use the recorder in Windows or Nvidia. Nvidia doesn't pick the game up as supported and windows doesn't pick it up in the new game bar neither.

Lunchmoney Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Nvidia doesn't pick the game up as supported and windows doesn't pick it up in the new game bar neither. Yeah they do. Here's a 45 second video I just took https://www.dropbox.com/s/872y3wif06o1ong/Base%20Profile%202019.06.03%20-%2009.40.50.01.mp4?dl=0 and 10 seconds from xbox game bar https://www.dropbox.com/s/557nmiceuz3vml8/Firebase%20Zulu%2003_06_2019%2009_48_58.mp4?dl=0 I used to play under the handle @Purple Clown, back on Live. Now I play under @Lunchmoney I'm in the UK and play on Reunion.
Mister Britain Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 Mine won't. How bizarre. Time to get the hammer out and fix the issue.
Lunchmoney Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 To be fair the xbox thing did ask if CoH was a game before it would start recording, but the Nvidia one just started and stopped on command. I used to play under the handle @Purple Clown, back on Live. Now I play under @Lunchmoney I'm in the UK and play on Reunion.
srmalloy Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 No idea what that is. I use the Print Screen button my keyboard and it saves screenshots in the screenshots folder. The UI windows are automatically removed. Actually, there's a toggle setting for that. "/screenshot UI [0|1]" sets whether or not to include the UI in screenshots, so if you need a screenshot that includes the chat window, map, mission list, etc., you can do it.
Mister Britain Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 I got it to work and managed to changed Jonathan Smythe into Statesman. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,3702.msg26447.html#msg26447

The Nvidia game experience notification thing says "A supported game is needed to run this feature". Here's a screenshot https://imgur.com/Awij8Is
