KalChoedan
I've had a good hunt around here, the old forums, discord and even reddit, and I haven't had any luck finding a recent take on kin/sonic. There's some decent guides, and I have a fair idea of the power picks, but no idea about slotting. Can anyone offer some help?
TungstenShark
Heh, I asked the same question in a thread that has now slipped to the second page. I'll be watching this thread closely. :)
soulerflare
I saw a Kin/Sonic in game just absolutely melt a group. Sleep/Fulcrum/Lots of yelling. I instantly made one. Only 14 right now, but he feels very group friendly so far. Looking forward to the melty bit later. Also, following! :)

blazingcoconut
Ironically, purples usually don't give you much in the way of Def bonuses. You need to avoid them as a Defender if you want to softcap. I have a theory build at the moment that is perma hasten with one instance of SB up and no incarnate. It also is more resist based, but to all positions instead of S/L. While S/L is the most common, post 50, everything has some kind of non S/L attack other than council. So I kind of passed up on using that as a mitigation method. I have not finished this build yet, so can't tell you how well it will work, but will keep people posted. If anyone wants to comment, then I'll be happy to discuss. Highlights: * Perma Hasten with only 1 SB up. For those times that you miss miss miss * Assault. Yes, it seems redundant, but Exemping pre 32 it's really nice to have an always up 18.75% Damage buff to go with Siphon Power * Full stealth between the pool power and Celerity for mission running * Two major Resistance clickies giving you 50-75% resist in everything for about 85% of the time (RoP is up 90s and down 90s. Force of Nature is up 120s and down 217s. Leaving you a 2m gap with bad defenses. However, 210s of resist with a good heal should get you through most stuff that starts going south. Basically, if you are being targeted, pop one, get close and heal. Also, RoP can be cast while held, making it a poor man's break free. * Powers slotted to take advantage of PPM Proc changes * Double Aim+Build up in the Amplify power * Pretty much full protection from KB powers * All of the normal things you would expect out of a Kin/Sonic defender Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! blazingcoconut
Yes, that is what I meant. I'll post back and let you know how well the lack of softcapped def is. nyamo999
First time Kin/Sonic builder - After looking around the new and old forums I came up with this build: - Capped S/L/E defenses - Decent S/L resists - Perma Hasten - Superspeed + celerity (in sprint) for stealth Am I missing anything? Don't care if the build is prohibitively expensive, always something to work for. Any advice would be really appreciated. Papaschtroumpf
How has that build been working for you? I just rolled one any tips for leveling vs endgame build?
Papaschtroumpf
OK, so I am hesitating between your build (or something very close to it, I would consider replacing Superspeed with Repel with an EndRed and a Knockback to Knockdown IO) and the following build They both have advantages and disadvantages, and your has a slight edge at lvl50 I think, but I like to examplar a lot, so it's going to take work to figure out which works best at lvl25 for example. I do like the fact that your build has more attacks and uses more of the powers from both sets. Papaschtroumpf
actually which build has the edge is really a matter of opinion, the second build has softcapped melee/ranged withouht the epic shield, and softcapped S/L resist (capped at 75% for Defenders). I do like the ton of accuracy and extra recharge of the second build though, in addition of the already mentioned access to more powers in the secondary. You will always get more survivability out of a ranged/melee def build compared to an S/L/E one and so it is always preferable to go that route if possible. Resists also make a difference. Defenders should always go r/m def in my opinion. Remember that repel is not just being used to knock mobs down, it is also being used to give you a +100% recharge buff for 5 seconds per proc. Both of these things together make is very worth it. The proc is up 50-60% of the time when completely surrounded, so it is a significant increase.
