Fire/Nature: What's Good? What's Skippable?

tripthicket

Recommended Posts

The title pretty much says it all. Going to try Fire/Nature. Also, what's good to choose with the Epic/Patron pools?

This character is meant to be Support first, then backup Damage for the hard TFs. Range or Melee, whatever it takes.

If you've played this, what's your attack chain?

Also, what Incarnates?

You have three long recharging PBAoE buffs so you'll want to get a relatively high amount of recharge in the build. You can also build to for some pretty reasonable levels of resistance as well, and use bonuses for defenses) recharge.

On nature you can get by without Rebirth, and possibly Entangling Aura since this is a corruptor (Entangling Aura works really good for controllers stacking with other holds). On Fire Blast you can skip fire breath, and probably flares as you'll have a full enough chain without it.

Here's my Fire/Nature. Reasonably cheap and room to replace some sets with purples for more recharge.

I've taken Nature to 50 twice (controller and defender). I consider Lifegiving Spores skippable (or something to take at lvl 49). While many skip Rebirth, keep in mind that it's not just a rez, it's also a heal/endurance buff that can be used on living allies. I really like Entangling Aura (since it doesn't take accuracy I frankenslot with 3x Hold/EndRed), but it does require you be in melee. On Fire I would skip Flares and possibly Fire Breath.

Fire's nuke is PBAoE, so I would possibly consider going with something like Fire/Nature/Dark, and taking Soul Drain to vampire +Damage from enemies. You can use a combo of Oppressive Gloom (Mag 2 Stun) and Entangling Aura (chance for Mag 3 Hold) to keep things occupied. It used to be crucial to have mezz protection to really make these powers work, but recent changes to offensive toggles make it less so. It's not always safe to use Soul Drain, but if you get good at it, you can often damage cap yourself for long periods of time, made easier by Nature's big +Damage boost in its T9.

I agree that Lifegiving Spores and the rezz are the most skippable powers in Nature. They are both good powers, but sometimes you need other stuff. I would try not to skip either if you plan on doing top tier Hardmode content like the updated ITF, though.

In Carnifax's build above you can see a good use of the Sorcery pool to get part-time mezz protection.

You can probably find a Fire Blast build on the forum somewhere. It's a very popular set, and very straight forward. A lot of people skip the cone.

Keep in mind endurance is likely to be your biggest battle. Nature has some End Redux but it still hammers your bar when paired with a fast casting set like Fire. You also will want to get enough global Recharge to make the nuke come up quickly and make Nature's powers perma.
