Xandyr Posted July 31, 2022 Share Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Ablative and DNA Siphon are too good of powers to skip. With Ablative, not only is it a heal, but it gives you an Absorb "shield". DNA Siphon, likewise, is a Heal, a damaging power, adds End to you, and does -Regen to all it hits. IMO I wouldn't even think about running Bio without these 2 powers. Might of the Tanker works better in a single target power than on an aura. Anyway, here is what I would do. Don't be put off by the 78% resists to S/L since it goes to 84% with a second stack from the tanker ATO in Radioactive Smash, and then 89% with Barrier and 90% when your HP drops to 90% HP. Any content you don't need Barrier is not hard enough to warrant 90% to begin with and the same with defenses that go to 45% with Barrier (same reasoning as above). I sacrificed Combat Jumping and the 7.5% recharge that go with it for Physical Perfection to balance taking Focused Accuracy which is a must with any content that blinds and/or debuffs accuracy, but in practical terms in a team you might find being blinded or debuffed is not a problem since your team will deal with the things that would be a major roadblock if soloing. So Xandyr's option of using Gloom to improve the damage is also good. I just prefer being self sufficient and three attacks are enough (Devastating, Radioactive Smash, Radiation Siphon, Radioactive Smash. Repeat. Pre-Devastating Blow it's Radiation Siphon, Contaminated Strike, Radioactive Smash, Contaminated Strike. Repeat), but Gloom is pretty strong so taking out Physical Perfection and FA to bring back Combat Jumping and Gloom just needs some reshuffling of slots. Not only is Gloom a good ranged attack, it opens up for Darkest Night, which debuffs enemy damage by 30% and debuffs their To Hit by 22.79% (how I have it slotted). I figured To Hit Debuffs are always nice 😎 OTOH, I did run at one time Focused Accy and Physical Perfection. The added To Hit, ACCY, and +Perception is always welcomed. Physical Perfection also becomes a great spot to drop a few Procs in. ZemX Posted August 1, 2022 Share Posted August 1, 2022 I'm surprised PhysPerf would be needed on a Bio, though I'm not to 50 yet with mine (and it's Staff so less end hungry than RadM). I am so addicted to CJ for combat mobility, I think I'd probably only use FA situationally and drop into Efficient Mode if I had to. But that's a lot of recovery already. The usual procs in health/stamina. Inexhaustible with another PerfShifter (and great EndDrain resist). DNA Siphon with Theft of Essence. And still as a last resort to all that, Efficient Mode. I've not needed it on my Rad/Rad at least, though RadA has admittedly slightly better recovery even than Bio, so maybe not a good comparison either. Varnithis Posted October 22, 2022 Share Posted October 22, 2022 I know this is a bit of mild thread necromancy, but seeing as my first homecoming character was a Bio/Rad tanker, I decided to go ahead and bump this and sing the praises of Bio/Rad. The theme I had in mind was to sort of have enemies melt while they try to fight back against a very diverse (but carefully managed) primary set. I really enjoy being able to changes modes to fit the situation, and getting that extra bit of oomph when you don't need to be in full turtle mode. Rad melee has an easy to manage attack chain but the real star of the show is irradiated ground. Now, as of posting this, it's been toned down (it used to proc like crazy, causing things to just disintegrate around my Tanker) but it remains just an amazing enemy control toggle. Much of the stuff on Homecoming was and still is new to me, including anything involving Going Rogue and Praetorians. I had no idea what I was in for in one of the missions that sent me there, and found myself fighting 3 AV Avatars of Hamidon at once. Set to +3 They melted. Slowly, true, but they still died. So Xandyr's option of using Gloom to improve the damage is also good. I just prefer being self sufficient and three attacks are enough (Devastating, Radioactive Smash, Radiation Siphon, Radioactive Smash. Repeat. Pre-Devastating Blow it's Radiation Siphon, Contaminated Strike, Radioactive Smash, Contaminated Strike. Repeat), but Gloom is pretty strong so taking out Physical Perfection and FA to bring back Combat Jumping and Gloom just needs some reshuffling of slots. Mind that Radiation Melee is a bit anemic these days what with the change made to Irradiated Ground.
