Energy/Energy Build Critique... Can't fix heavy endurance!

TCUFROGS

Recommended Posts

I am struggling to find a decent build for my Energy/Energy Blaster. No matter what I do his endurance drains faster than an unslotted level 45 with every power toggled. I am getting tired of reslotting and spending INF to try to figure him out... Thinking about just scrapping him if I can't get a decent build. Help please?!

  • TCUFROGS changed the title to Energy/Energy Build Critique... Can't fix heavy endurance!

Put Energize on auto instead of hasten.

Also turn off travel powers like super jump while fighting.

Here's your problem:

image.png.635c04d93b00503aa3cf97611f569919.png

Your Recover to Drain Ratio is only 1.4. So if you're running 6-7 toggles non-stop, your static end drain is almost equal to your recovery. That's you just STANDING there.

Now, you couple that with your uber recharge build and I'm sure you're firing away on all cylinders: BLAST, BLAST, BLAST!!!

Looking at your likely ranged attack chain, with Aim / BU opening and Nova finishing, you're burning through half your endurance in about 15 sec.

You then turn and burn like Mav to the next group and unload again.

There goes the other half of your endurance.

Put it all together and your end recovery : end drain ratio just can't keep up with that level of heat.

Your only saving grace is Energize. When that's active, your numbers look like:

image.png.c5b80b588f7c9a144074ee835a69257c.png

That makes your ratio 2.6, which is really solid, but still going to struggle with the high recharge / high burn build you have here.

So as stated, put that on Auto and leave hasten as your click. It's perma as is, so might as well keep it clicked.

Speaking of Hasten, you can move one of those Rech slots out to somewhere else. You're already smashing the ED cap. You might as well +5 the first 2 slots, which gets you where you are with 3, and then move that 3rd into Health and put Numina's Proc or Panacea. Both will give you more end recovery.

Here's the numbers with that 1 slot switch to Numina's:

image.png.ad48f40c2771f6b8e9900999e5e321f5.png

Ratio = 2.8, which is really close to the 3 I shoot for with all my high burn builds.

One other option to throw in the mix is picking up Victory Rush to give you another source of recovery. You could put that in 47 or dump SJ for it at 49, and take power boost at 47.

Oh, and +5 your End Mods in Stamina, too. Then take Vigor Core for the Alpha for the Acc, End Redux, Heal boosts. Even with just the T3 Partial Core, your numbers will look like this with those 2 things added in:

image.png.7a3df77dbf101a65a27dc8d3274c5208.png

Yahtzee! You should be able to fire away with all your toggs running there. Toss in Support Radial Hybrid for the global 5% End Redux if you're still having issues, and if that's still not good enough, then take Ageless Destiny (that of course will solve most end problems off the bat, but you don't HAVE to take it with the suggestions above if you wanted something else).

image.png.cc3acce844c69bb46ddd52625b981343.png

Good luck!

If you have two slots in Stamina you should be slotting Performance Shifter +Endurance Proc and a Performance Shifter Endmod IO. You'll get more bang out of those than just two Endmods.

Remember energize gives an end discount on all active powers too.

I have never needed more than base slot in both health and stamina with energize perma.

The posted build isn’t high rech either. Looking at it from my phone I’d be surprised if it breaks 70% global. I also don’t see force feedback procs. Energize on auto alone should do the trick.

With Hasten activated, it's at 127.5% recharge and Hasten is near-perma (about 15 sec short).

The number I gave above for the ratio includes Energize active.

Based on what he's saying and what the build shows, he's running too many toggles and firing powers in rapid succession that his recovery can't keep up.

IMO he needs to shut down a couple toggles, and use Energize as an auto at the bare minimum. If he actually wants to Aim / BU, then fire a 3 ST combo of Power Blast, Power Burst, Sniper Blast, with a healthy mix of Energy Torrent, Explosive Blast and Nova one group after the other, he's going to need to do a lot more.

OP - I provided some analysis and suggestions. It's your choice what you want to do with them.

No matter how damage you're bringing, it doesn't mean squat if you don't have the endurance to attack. That's why I usually sort out my end recovery as early as I can. This usually means a couple of end mod SOs around level 15 and upgrade to IOs around 25-30. Some powers in general will consume more end than others, so make sure you slot for that. This is what drives to look at IO sets more carefully as some uncommon ones (yellows) may be more suited than rares or purples (i.e. full set of multistrike has more end-addressing pieces and a better overall damage % increase than Obliteration or Eradication. However, IO choices have other factors that go into them, so it becomes a very personal thing.

Also, toggles cost. Some, I dedicate a slot to an end reduction SO, which I only upgrade to a +5 boosted end reduction IO at 50. Leadership's Maneuvres, and Fighting's Tough and Weave are common culprits. Also, when I can, I try to chase after +max end set bonuses. The bigger your blue bar, the more end you're recovering per percentage. end discount bonuses also help, but are not as common. As a general rule of thumb, I try to maintain a 1:2 ratio for consumption:recovery.

I should clarify, I mean the end discount applies to all his attacks too. So if you look at recovery through the lens of a normal build with no end discounts at all it's low, but factor in that all his toggles and attacks/clicks now cost 60% less end, on top of the end redux he's slotting into the powers themselves, that recovery becomes good enough that he shouldn't be running out of end super fast even if he's spamming attacks non-stop. For normal engagements that last all of 10-30 seconds before you move on to the next spawn it's good enough, the time spent traveling to the next spawn should be enough time for you to recover. For prolonged AV/GM fights you will see the blue bar dip but that's nothing that few blue pills/team mate buffs, recovery serums can't fix.

Now that I've looked at the build in mids, there are a few areas of optimization:

1) 3 slots hasten - +5 2 of the IOs and save a slot

2) 6 slot tactics - I'd rather have guassians in aim for on-demand build up proc to punch through nemesis vengeance or Paragon Protector Moment of Glory. The proc rate in tactics is poor unless you are on a huge team/league.

3) I'd take power boost, maybe that's what the empty slot is for, maybe it's for vengeance for another LOTG

4) I'd drop assault, the damage bonus is deceptive and not all that impactful for blasters. (now you can fit both power boost and vengeance in!)

5) I'd replace the miracle with a panacea unique, and slot the performance shift +end in stamina, the sudden bursts of endurance do far more than static recovery, and gets around -recovery debuffs.

6) 2 slotting your travel powers with blessing of zephyr is a super efficient way to get both KB protection and range defense.

7) At decent enough recharge you'll almost never use power blast as a part of your regular rotation. If you want to eek out a bit more recovery and get a better heal in the process, put those slots from power blast into energize and 6 slot it with the Numina set.

Here's a re-work, keeping it cheapish and shuffled some slots so you can exemp better. Most people don't care what order they take powers but it matters a great deal if you want to do lower level content like those WST positrons and such. The way this build progresses you will have softcapped range + SL defense by the time you exemp for Citadel.

Still running hasten on blasters seems like a power and slots waste. I run all my blasters hastenless and have no problem maintaining whatever is critical to the build and firing non-stop. For example, 45% range def s/l/e 48% on my energy/energy blaster with Perma Energize and Power Boost. No end issues, run attack chain until my fingers bleed and still 100% end. Less frankenbuilding and more full sets for recharge etc is what I recommend to all blasters.
