Lore question: Paragon City origins

Recommended Posts

How far back does the lore go regarding Paragon City?  I'm going to put in one caveat and state that I know that underneath, Oranbega has been there seemingly forever.  So beyond that...

Do we have references to it's earliest above ground settlement? American Revolution? French & Indian War?  Native American Tribes? etc.

Going by the giant coin that Blue Steel stands in front of, it was founded in 1823...So I guess the 200 year anniversary is coming up soon.

Ugh, a Fandom wiki.  Here's ours, which even includes a link to the Way Back Machine original page  😃

The other question is whether there was some sort of "Paragon Village" or something beforehand, since the HC Wiki article mentions Colonial villages in the 18th century.  The big coin in KR has a date of 1823, so maybe that's the first time it was officially dubbed "Paragon City"...

I think the text of each is exactly the same?

I think that it might have been just 'Paragon', a name in line with the aspirational names of other communities across the Colonies, and later the US.

Not so much the text but the website.  Auto-play ads are enough to keep me away but there's other issues.  I used to edit a fan-made site there, and wouldn't now.  Editing stuff there reminded me of the AE, for one thing, ha ha.  Anyway, off topic.

That makes sense.  The city where I grew up had two distinct names and stages.  The first stage and original name was during the early days of the USA.  The area was used as a summer home in the mountains for the rich of the Carolina coastline to escape the muggy heat. The second stage and second name was when many finally decided to stay in the area and incorporate.

Thanks.  Reading through that, beyond the origins that I sought, I noticed there was no mention of Atlas during the attack on Independence Point.  Considering the detail otherwise given, that's a major oversight of the wiki.

I'm also intrigued by the Sand Kings and the Storm Korp. (Shouldn't it be "Sturm Korp"?)   I'm not sure how it could be done, but the idea of another connection to the past, similar to Cimerora, to participate in the desert guerrilla warfare with Dream Doctor and the Sand Kings sounds like it could be a fun new zone.

I thought the WW2 stuff was intriguing as well, so much so that I made refs to both the Sand Kings and Storm Korps in a set of AE arcs (namely the Leviathan Series).*

*end shameless plug:-)
