Levelling an ATOs?

So I understand properly that Superior ATOs cannot be equipped until you are 50 (not even 47?)

So should I buy regular ATOs as O level up and catalyze them when I hit 50?

It doesn't hurt to do that, no. They're very effective regardless of what level you are. And if you decide on a better build that doesn't use 'em, just superior them first and sell them for easy money :)

Not entirely true; they'll be pretty anemic in the teens through the mid-20s.

They also tend to have really nice set bonuses.

 

I like splitting Defender's Vigilante Assault in half, 3 in one power 3 in the other. This way I double up on their 3rd set bonus (+recharge). For a groovy +12.5% in total. And +20% after you catalyze them. Not bad for something you can slot in as soon as 10 iirc. Also yields better overall results than say Positron or Obliteration. Frankenslot the next 2 slots and you've got a nicely enhanced power.
