Update: Flintlock is…not exactly least value if you get it on gamepass. But it is pretty average or lackluster depending on how important these factors are to you.

Character story is..mostly pretty solid. I like the relationship between the MC and her companion, pretty well done.

Combat is clunky with parrying really only being great with the use of a skill in the skill tree for pistol combat. Hit boxes are trash though.

Final boss is artificial difficulty, plain and simple. Worse boss I’ve ever fought in a game.

Overall score? 6.5/10. 7 if I was to be super generous. Its a gamepass game 🤷🏾‍♂️

Best value:

Civ 5&6

Gloomhaven

CoX

Darkest Dungeon

Cultist Simulator

Frost Punk

... the older I get the more I value turn-based games so I can stop at any point to go do what needs done and jump right in where I left off without a problem. CoX is the anomaly 😄

Worst value:

Any Telltale game (I play once and never again yet... still kept doing it over and over 😑)

FIFA any year (because I work too much to play it enough before the next year comes out)

WoW/EVE... because I spent countless hours not doing anything productive/fun just grinding away for something because that was the only way to get ahead

Best Value:

Lies of P & Black Myth Wukong.  Both games are absolute bangers. Im in NG+ for both and I’d easily recommend it to anyone looking for some challenging yet fun gameplay. One IS a soulslike though and the other is similar to ninja gaiden in terms of difficulty so YMMV if you like that sorta thing.

Storytelling in both is easily top tier for sure.

I've been replaying TES 4: Oblivion lately while waiting on Avowed and I'd forgotten how much fun that one was! I've got @ 30ish game hours and I still haven't been to Kvatch yet.

Out of the games I've played for value:

Most value, due to replay and time spent:

Minecraft - I mainly play on a LGBT server called Grandma's House, and I have spent months of time online.  I'm a maker at heart so building things and digging caves out is very satisfying for me

Terraria - over 1500 hours clocked on Steam, same reasons as Minecraft

Fallout 4 - not including Fallout London (which is almost it's own game) I have over 900 hours clocked in on Steam, and I'm always finding new bunkers, or cleverly placed teddy bears

Least value:

Fallout 76 - I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't think you should have to pay for the game AND a monthly subscription to get ahead in the game.  It just feels wrong.  Especially for people who aren't great at video games and just want to follow the story.  Some combat is fine, but with such limited resources, and having to run from deathclaws 200 times higher than your level is really unfair.

Borderlands 3 - it was....okay, but the story line kinda sucked.  The DLC's are more worth it than the main plotline

They Bleed Pixels - It's a platformer that's so hard that I have a really hard time playing it.  I like the vibe, the graphics are fun, but as for gameplay, again I'm not that great so its most likely my personal experience that's limiting my enjoyment.

Screen cap is from Fallout London

I sunk way too many hours into DayZ, both solo and with friends, and for the cost, it delivered tons of fun and chaos. Using the best dayz cheats added a new layer of unpredictability when things got stale. It made some sessions way more interesting, especially on private servers where the rules were looser and people were just trying to have a weird time.

I dont have a least value, but I just want to bring to the spotlight two great games:

  • Expedition 33: This game might be the first ever perfect game made. It's a once in a generation game, and...look just play it. You'll understand when you do
  • First Beserker Khazan: An 8/10  Soulslike on the combat alone. Story's alright, nothing crazy great. It's set in the Dungeon Fighter Online universe if any of you here are fans of that, so I mean there IS an overaching connected narrative with some I assume significant lore characters? Hardest Soulslike(and harder than the entire Dark Souls series apparently) out today, tied with the likes of Sekiro and Bloodborne with combat very similar to a Nioh/Sekiro blend.

Most Value:

City of Heroes - I can't even begin to calculate the hours I have played.

Skyrim - Over 2,100 hours and counting.

Civilization 5 - Over 400 hours, the one more turn mentality was killing me.

Freecell Quest - Over 650 hours, if you like Freecell this is a nice little game that you can play while watching something

Max Payne 1 & 2 - Not sure how many hours but really enjoyed both of them; couldn't really get into 3 though

Least Value:

Cyberpunk 2077 - Spent 2.4 hours in game and couldn't get into despite loving Cyberpunk

Red Dead Redemption 2 - 92 minutes, same as Cyberpunk

I really need to try those 2 again...

Finally finished Persona 3 Reload (and Episode Aigis) and clocked over a hundred hours. Definitely got my money's worth.

City of Heroes is my wife, all other games are mere mistresses...

Oh and Starfield is the worst game I've ever wasted a hundred bucks on.

I call it "Garfield" because I'll never be able to unsee those staring NPC bug eyes at release...

Those times you saw no footprints, I had Fly toggled on.

Red Dead Redemption 2.

RDR1 is a great game but RDR2 is an impossibly big game. I think it should be criminal for a game to have as much content in it as RDR2. I 100%ed it on the Xbox. Every time I thought I was close to completing it more game kept showing up. And then I had to get all the achievements in Red Dead Online!

I also think Minecraft is a perfect game. You get out of it what you put in. I don't even like building stuff. I just fight zombies and I still put hundreds of hours into it.
