Given McDonald's character is a proper supporting role and listed as a Sheriff, I'm guessing small rural American town has something/someone quite nasty hiding in it. And navigating intricate local politics to find clues and fight crime will be involved.

Wow.  Is that really the direction they're going with the Lanterns series?  I don't know that intergalactic cops hanging about in rural America solving a mystery as a setting appeals to me.  I mean, they're the Lantern Corps.  They're history and setting is the universe itself.  There has to be plenty of stories for them to do in that setting.  Wait and see I guess.  I was just hoping for something more space/sci-fi.

It's because he's the man of steel. He can deflect bullets and withstand savage roastings of his dorky outfit. Krypto has a cape too. The point is to get high on nostalgia I think.

I think it comes down to style of the outfit.  Not sure I'm keen on this Superman's outfit.  Batman TAS had the underwear look and it looked good, but it may not look as good in live action.

 

Superman with colors instead of black/greys, can make it look better.

I think it depends on the particular take for Batman, really. For a more 'serious' version - which most often just means more realistic or grounded, like the Christopher Nolan or Matt Reeves versions - a suit lacking trunks fits the vibe. For more comic accurate or animated takes? Bats needs the trunks. Trunkless Batman is not the Batman that'd team up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for example.

 

Much as I'd love to see Robert Pattinson's Batman with David Corenswet's Superman, the Matt Reeves stuff is off in its own bubble. Which is probably for the best overall. Lets the current Batman media keep its more Sopranos/The Wire-eqsue tone and level of success while still allowing for a more earnestly comicbook Bats for the main universe.

I liked the costumes in the Snyder films.  I had initially thought Superman would look weird without the trunks, but it turned out really well I think.  The suit looked a lot better as time went on in BvS and Justice League.  Man of Steel was nice, but too dark I think.  I'm still not sold on this latest version, but who knows maybe it will be fine.

Booster’s been around since 1986. He started out as a real glory hound kind of showboat, but he’s had some pretty good arcs over the years. The JLU animated episode “The Greatest Story Never Told” centers him and is a great intro to the character.

Yeah, I honestly didn't care much for Batman's outfit in Snyder verse.  It felt off.

 

Superman's was fine, but it felt like they were trying to hard with the material.  Afraid to just keep it simple.  Not that it has to be the spandex look...just...the no trunks was fine, the material...could've been smoothed out some.

Only thing I didn't care for was the Bat symbol.  It was too big and in most shots looked like a black rectangle on the chest.  I get they were going for The Dark Knight Returns vibe with it, but I agree it looked off in that respect.

I rather liked what they did with the material with the thought that its a garment that Kryptonians would wear in everyday life.  I also like how they incorporated Kryptonian script into the costume.  I thought that was a nice touch.  It looked very cool on Supergirl in the Flash too.  She was the best thing about that movie.

These are the two that appeal to me.   Are they only going with 3 Earth-based Green Lanterns?  What of Kyle Rayner?   I'm wondering if they're going to take the time to explain why there are multiple Lanterns from Earth, when other sectors only have 1 to cover the full sector.

 

I understand there was a Booster Gold in Smallville, but I'm ready to see a focus on the egotist-turned-hero.

No idea. Somehow a small-town American cop winds up mixed up in this, so - unless she gets mixed up with a Lantern or becomes a Star Sapphire, which her character's name (Sheriff Kerry) does not suggest - I suspect it may be a mostly Earth-bound investigation.

 

And I'm going with the Dr. Who explanation, which is Earthlings are the pain in the ass kids of the Universe. Important, inventive, sometimes fun, often selfish, occasionally capable of great acts of genius or heroism... and they need a lot of looking after.

I really very very much hope this is not the direction this series takes.  I'd like to see a space based sci-fi series, not some police procedural set in rural small town America.
