in the 4 star itf should the green (emerald) nova be held or do we continue to burn it down like in 1/2 star content?

also, in 4 star, does it become necessary to have a scrapper or Brute for the yellow nova or, as usual, do we just zerg it?

they are the squids that spawn/respawn and buff Romulus in 1-4 star like the towers buff Recluse in MLTF.  normally we just burn/reburn

Mission 4 Revised Encounter: Romulus Augustus

This encounter with Romulus bears several new mechanics atop the existing one.

Nictus Essences: The Nictus Essences in this version of the fight are immune to all attacks.

Death Throw: When Romulus sacrifices a Nictus essence, the resulting Death Throw, which stuns on normal mode, will now instantly defeat any ally within line of sight.

Barrier Novas: Romulus summons 4 Barrier Novas to the field, which protect him from all damage. These Novas have moderate-to-high defense against the 'wrong' attack vectors.

The Topaz (Yellow) Barrier Nova is more easily hit by Melee Attacks.

The Sapphire (Blue) Barrier Nova is more easily hit by Ranged Attacks.

The Ruby (Red) Barrier Nova is more easily hit by Area of Effect (AoE) Attacks.

The Emerald (Green) Barrer Nova is intended to be controlled, but not defeated, as it gains massive resistance bonuses when under control, but renders it unable to protect Romulus, while impacting his regeneration.

For teams lacking control, it is trivial to defeat this Barrier Nova on lower difficulties in order to remove Romulus' protection, though he will retain his regeneration.

Dont hold it. It provides a shield to rommy when held making your life worse

No, do not hold the Emerald Nova. It's not worth babysitting it to try and shave a tiny amount of Regen off of Rommy.

The team should move as a group taking down each Nova while the taunter occupies Rom.

That explains it

The one 4-star I participated in that actually made it to Rommy was on launch day.

It was a Snarky Sized Disaster.

Think there were only like 4 of us left, and the tank just kept running in circles with Rommy chasing while we were all separated and getting spanked.

Zerg them and intentionally do NOT use holds so that you can still kill it has been the approach of every 4* ITF I've done.

I think a new phrase has entered the forum lexicon, right up there with Gone to the Americas and /jranger
