Forum search question

I feel kind of dumb asking this, but I've run dry on places to search (or have misunderstood what I saw).

 

Is there a method whereby we can search a thread for all posts from a specific individual.  For example, say I wanted inspiration for costume making but at a current 284 pages, the "Post Your Best Costume Designs Here" thread has become somewhat unwieldy for quickly finding past postings.  Is there a way I can filter the entire thread to show only posts created by forum name First Player?

First - please don't feel dumb - the search function for the forums is ...well, either I'm not smart enough, or it just doesn't work well. Could be both. 
In any event - you can search for the posts of one specific name. 

First: Click on Activity, then scroll down to search. 

 

 

Then click on the "+Search by Author". That should give you some results. Maybe not the specific results you wanted - but posts by that player should appear.

Or just hover over the person's avatar or @ name and select Find Content.

Thanks!  I truly appreciate the effort.  I've accomplished similar in my previous attempts.  From what I can see, I can get a listing of all postings for a designated time period from a single author, but what I seek is a step (maybe two) deeper.  I need to pull only those author's postings within a single thread.  Referring once again to the massive "Post Your Best Costume Designs Here" thread, lets say this time I want to find all posts by ....quick search for a random name in the costumes thread... Herotu.    With the information provided in this discussion, am I right in saying I'm consigned to only a listing of all of Herotu's posts everywhere, and have to hunt through that possibly long list for anything within the costume thread?  or is there a way to filter to only the results of the costume thread?

What Ukase said works, but add a couple of steps... Go to the post/section/group whatever but for this example the specific post "Post Your Best Costume Designs Here" then search for whatever term you're looking for then click on the '+more search options' and add the name and it'll come up with only posts by that user that contain the terms in that post. I searched for the term 'the' and then added Herotu and it came up with 24 results from just that thread.

 

Like, if you search from General Discussion you'll get results from General Discussion. If you search in the Servers section you'll get results from there... If you search from the main page of the forums you'll get results from everywhere.

Pretty much, go to the place you want to search for more specific results from that place.

Bingo!  That's what I'm talkin' about!

While I suppose I'd have to find something that all posts would have in common (maybe a period?) to search upon, this very largely gets me where I need to go.

Unfortunately not everyone uses periods or even punctuation lol but I suggest small words: the, in, to, use

 

I got 24 results from 'the' as opposed to 3 results from 'costume' which I used first.

You can also search that player and then pick "Find Content"

In the search box type the name (or paste) and change the dropdown to "Members"

You can filter a little bit from there also.
