Help with Broad Sword / Fire Aura

Recommended Posts

Just started playing earlier this year and this my first attempt at making a themed build. I've looked around the forums to get a general idea and have come up with something I'm satisfied with. I'm just unsure about a few choices I've made like: Assault, Tactics and Hasten. I don't know how and what to slot in them so any advice would be good.

I'm not looking to min-max so if there are odd, "off-meta" choices, i made those to stick with a theme.

Probably not what you want to hear (and people seem to get their hackles up when ever I suggest it) but you could consider doing it with a Brute instead. Simply because their Fire Armor has an agro aura that keeps enemies close where the Scrapper version will send mobs running to the africas when ever they use Burn.

Fire Armor is also a resistance based armor and Brutes get 90% resists where Scrappers have 75% but mostly the agro aura.

I just want to chime in to add on to the blasphemy.  Fire armor really needs a taunt and you'll only get it from a brute or tanker.  Between those two I prefer the brute because, as far as I recall tanks cannot stack parry but brutes can.  On my broadsword/fire brute I could softcap (~45%) melee\lethal just about as soon as I picked up parry via a few parry hits since it recharges really fast.

I believe the stacking can only be done with a Scrapper. The only Parry like power that can be stacked by Brute/Tankers is Defensive Spin from Staff.

I could be wrong about this though as I've not touched Broadsword in a while and Mids is not 100% trustworthy.

Looks like in CoD that Defensive Sweep from Titan Weapons also stacks defense for tankers.

I built a Scrapper with Electric Armor and he does fine and that is a resistance set, as well. The armor is there and if you like it, use it. And with Electric Armor I built a Brute with it as well that my son runs, it is a beast, but overall, my Scrapper's resistances across the board, other than S/L/E, are higher and I soft-capped both on defenses on Melee and S/L.
