Erzell Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) Just started playing earlier this year and this my first attempt at making a themed build. I've looked around the forums to get a general idea and have come up with something I'm satisfied with. I'm just unsure about a few choices I've made like: Assault, Tactics and Hasten. I don't know how and what to slot in them so any advice would be good. I'm not looking to min-max so if there are odd, "off-meta" choices, i made those to stick with a theme. Sovera Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Probably not what you want to hear (and people seem to get their hackles up when ever I suggest it) but you could consider doing it with a Brute instead. Simply because their Fire Armor has an agro aura that keeps enemies close where the Scrapper version will send mobs running to the africas when ever they use Burn. Fire Armor is also a resistance based armor and Brutes get 90% resists where Scrappers have 75% but mostly the agro aura. 1 2 1 - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.

Fire armor really needs a taunt and you'll only get it from a brute or tanker. Between those two I prefer the brute because, as far as I recall tanks cannot stack parry but brutes can. On my broadsword/fire brute I could softcap (~45%) melee\lethal just about as soon as I picked up parry via a few parry hits since it recharges really fast. 1 1

I believe the stacking can only be done with a Scrapper. The only Parry like power that can be stacked by Brute/Tankers is Defensive Spin from Staff. I could be wrong about this though as I've not touched Broadsword in a while and Mids is not 100% trustworthy. - Simple guide for newcomers. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
evetsleep Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 It works on brute for both katana and broadsword :). I was running my broadsword/fire brute today ... Inspired by this thread and I was reliably sitting at 47% melee/lethal and he's not IO'd at all yet.

Looks like in CoD that Defensive Sweep from Titan Weapons also stacks defense for tankers. 1 Who run Bartertown?
aethereal Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Adding to the chorus, Brute Parry stacks fine. Tanker Parry does not stack. Edited November 15, 2024 by aethereal
WuTang Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I built a Scrapper with Electric Armor and he does fine and that is a resistance set, as well. The armor is there and if you like it, use it. And with Electric Armor I built a Brute with it as well that my son runs, it is a beast, but overall, my Scrapper's resistances across the board, other than S/L/E, are higher and I soft-capped both on defenses on Melee and S/L.
Erzell Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 Quick update. I've currently gotten to Veteran Level 30 so far and It's going well. As for the comments on why i should've made a Brute instead; Full Disclosure, i picked scrapper because the class icon is orange and i was going for a fire theme. Again, I'm new and I reserve the right to make silly decisions like this. 🙃 That 90% sure is nice but i like the increased crits scrappers have. Are bigger numbers better than 15% more defense cap? I personally say yes. I've also recently learned about those fancy accolade buffs so I've tweaked and updated the Mids build if anyone wants to use it for reference. Without_Pause Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 To be fair, the argument isn't simply Crits versus 15% more Def. The issues are lower Res cap, no Taunt aura, damage aura doesn't Crit as where Brutes add in Fury to boost it, and I find FA to be one of the weakest armors in the game, and then you stick it on a Scrapper. Again, you have your idea and are happy with it. If you find something you love, go for it. I would at least try out FA on a Brute at some point just to see. 1 Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. When you make a suboptimal decision, and acknowledge that it is suboptimal but that you are comfortable taking the performance loss for whimsical personal reasons. Most of scrapper/stalker FA's issues are not insurmountable with good play and a little help, cough cough soul epic. However for me the lack of aggro aura ended up being a dealbreaker. If you are playing FA you likely want to enjoy Burn. I feel that not being able to keep stuff in the burn patch reliably has a good chance to put a dampener on your inner pyromaniac.
