When you add a character to your Friends list, it's a unilateral action. The character being added isn't notified and has no consent. The action only applies to a single character and the list can only be accessed by a single character. The Global Friends list has different mechanics. Because it applies to all the requestee's characters and all your characters, it requires the requestee's consent. If you're suggesting that players be able to add other players to their Global Friends list without the requestee's consent, then that would be a hard no.

I am not the OP, but I would interpret their request as being "show the Global Friends tab first when opening the Friends window, instead of needing to click past the character-based friends list first."

local and global f-list have different functions. g-Friends are your droogs. l-Friends are actually for your rivals because it's one way and they don't have to grant permission.

basically, You know when i am trying to add You to global but You have no idea if i am tracking your movement with local. this is a good thing!

Sorry. Got sick. It was to refer to setting Global Friend as the default as opposed to server.

This still isn't super clear. Do you mean adding someone as a friend? Or do you mean having the global friends list menu pop up as the default friends menu instead of the server one? I could get behind the second option (or letting it be an option people can select as the default). No to the first option.

Also, this thread is a good note for folks making suggestions--please make your suggestion super clear and thought out so if the devs decide to read it, they understand what it is you're asking for.

Making Global Friend the default when you open up the friends tab. Go to friends. A list of characters you have friended on the server is the current default. This is a wasteful step. Global Friend would be a more useful default. Hence Global Friends as Default.

Then this is what needs to be in your OP

It would be nice to chat with all global friends at once like coalition chat or a private channel but without having to create that, just by default.
