MikeSol Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I got all the Winter Event badges in two days. It took me a lot longer to get the Halloween badges. Thank god map overlays are a thing or the toy collector badge would have been far worse to get. Also, I got lucky and got into a League that kept running the LW event over and over where you get 20 candy canes per run so I was able to buy all the badges pretty quickly. 1
Techwright Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Nice! Now on to the other several dozen characters... 1

Not to derail things too much, but this is one of the major revelations I've had regarding another game I frequently play - Fallout 76; Over the years, they have made it easier and easier for 1 single character to do everything - you can swap abilities almost on the fly, and with practically no cost. CoH, (for the better, IMHO), presents you with the difficult decision of selecting an AT, primary, and secondary set that you CANNOT change, and even if it is relatively easy to reach 50, it still requires at least some dedication to fully kit that character out and really turn them into the fully fleshed-out character you think they can become... Luminara Posted December 7 Posted December 7 That's what she said. 3 Get busy living... or get busy dying. That's goddamn right.

And the toy collector...those presents. It really is tedious. The other post about Kitsch and cuteness and stupidity...well, it's not a pleasant post, but he's not entirely wrong - clicking on 200 glowies isn't very fun. I'm trying to consider how Voltor must feel with ...25? that have all the badges. Multi-boxing or teaming doesn't help with this one. 25 hours, give or take a bit to get those on all those characters. I'm sure they weren't all in the same year, but I have 4 more characters (well, really 6) that I'd like to get these badges on, but there's just no way I'm gonna willingly suffer through that for 4-6 more characters. The Winter Lord, Lady Winter and Baby New Year - at least there's some level of combat to distract you. The presents, click, fireball, next present. 1

I get what I consider the core badges which for me are the ones you get via Father Time. Then if I have time I get the other non-purchased ones with Toy Collector being the last one. 200 is a drag even when I have it down quick, it's still around an hour. I do tend to have an Alt follow me. It's a Robot MM that guns down the spawns so I don't have to waste time on them.

I only have one character and even if I did have other characters, I would not bother with badges for them. I would only care about badges on my main. Collecting as many of them as I can on ONE character is enough. 1

Yeah. it really should have maxed out at 100. I tried it at first without a map overlay and I was getting frustrated. With an overlay, there was no more frustration, only boredom. Back during the first holiday event on Homecoming, I remembered a 37-present loop through one of the zones from back on Live a decade earlier, so the holiday map overlays are useful only if I decide to switch to running a different zone that I haven't bothered to store present locations for. But, then, my memory tucks away all sorts of random and sometimes useless data.

I haven't done any this year yet, but it's usually my thing while waiting for SG mates.
