biostem Posted Thursday at 12:38 AM Posted Thursday at 12:38 AM I have this idea for a joke character that is themed around heat/fire and various forms of syrup, (be it maple or that fake sugary junk some people use instead). I don't have a particular AT or powersets in mind, besides something heat or fire related, and something that roughly approximates whatever syrup-themed powers would be like. Your thoughts & input are warmly welcomed!
Biff Pow Posted Thursday at 01:35 AM Posted Thursday at 01:35 AM A while ago I started a Water/Earth Blaster named Molasses Man, and used the Slime aura to be extra syrupy. But I guess I got distracted by other characters and deleted him. 1
VeiledOwl Posted Thursday at 02:15 AM Posted Thursday at 02:15 AM Here's some thoughts on sets/powers that could work: Water Blast (Dark coloration with orange and/or gold) gives a kind of syrup-y look. Marine affinity's too effervescent for my tastes (syrup's meant to be sticky and slow) but could work with the water only animations. Fire Control and Fire Manipulation's Hot Feet power works - slows enemies, has a sort of bubbling effect around the player's feet. Earth Assault/Manipulation/Stone Armor has Mud Pots/Mud Bath, which has a similar effect to Hot Feet. If going that route, the set can be recolored to somewhat resemble crystallized syrup. Likely not ideal since heat would keep it melted, but plausible enough. Bio Armor with minimal FX animations can look somewhat liquid-y. Poison look somewhat liquid-y, but doesn't really give me maple syrup vibes. Maybe a Fire/Earth/Leviathan Dominator or a Water/Fire Blaster with either the Fire or Leviathan epic pool? 1 Making an AE arc? Akisan Posted Thursday at 05:28 PM Posted Thursday at 05:28 PM You might be able to get away with dark-tinted Gravity or Kinetics powers looking like you're trapping stuff in syrup, and IIRC, they slow, too, for extra theme points. (Not sure how well Singularity will work with that theme, though!) One of the teleports (I think the one from Experimentation?) has the character covered in goop - not sure how well it'll retint though. 1
