Deathclutch Posted Sunday at 01:06 AM Posted Sunday at 01:06 AM Hello Home Coming Team, I know this is an option if you head to "Null The Gull" in Pocket D. But would it be possible to add “Group Fly Specifically” into our options, under “Team Options”? This way we can have players not get mad and make remarks about it. I just want to peacefully be able to use it on my Masterminds without having to tell them to zone to a contact. Thanks Dev Team, 🙇♂️ 1
Lunar Ronin Posted Sunday at 02:22 AM Posted Sunday at 02:22 AM That's 35 threads (including this one), about Group Fly (either directly or indirectly), over the past six years. Not to mention numerous discussions on the Homecoming and Closed Beta Discord servers. Tl;dr: The developers are aware of the issues with Group Fly (and Team Teleport). Disabling Group Fly, Team Teleport, and Speed Boost cannot be made an option in the options window, as a token is required to disable the powers and only NPCs can grant tokens. Now, this token can be granted to other NPCs like trainers or so I have been told, and/or Null the Gull copied to other zones, but I also hear that certain developers are strongly resistant to the idea for various reasons. So nothing has been done, and very likely nothing will be done. Until something changes, your best course of option is to lead teams/raids/trials yourself. If someone complains about Group Fly, explain to him or her how to disable it. If he or she continues to complain, /kick. People need to grow up and take responsibility for their own inaction to spend two minutes to disable the powers in Pocket D. Or an additional ten seconds while changing alignments. 5
Jacktar Posted Sunday at 09:00 AM Posted Sunday at 09:00 AM Hi, eek four years ago for mine, lol. Been a few changes since, one being an increase in fly speed for the pets which does nearly let them follow a lot closer. (I want formation flying like our UK Red Arrows! (or any other national display team 👍)) I have rolled a number of Mm’s since and do take Group Fly on most. Some I only play as a solo and some I team when I do not use GF and I also have two Bots Mm that I dual box for hover farming and rain hell from above and boy that is still fun. Most of the old complaints seem to be still extant and I do not recall any answer as to why the Null the Gull group fly option is not defaulted to off/ignore and you go to it to turn it on. Might just be my old brain or missed answers whilst being away in the real world. So better? Yes Still problematic? oh hell yes. My last rebuff was when I went to train at Miss L and forgot I had GF active and got shouted at, I apologised and left without training, noob mistake but still felt a bit uncomfortable having caused offense to other players! I keep telling myself that GF is still WIP and live in hope. 👨🏻🦳 1

MTeague Posted Sunday at 03:14 PM Posted Sunday at 03:14 PM I get it may be percieved as "Very Low Priority; Workaround Already Exists". But I would hope exposing the toggle as another line item in the UI would be ... really tame. Granted, standard code rant applies, I have not personally reviewed the code, so perhaps it would be a beast. But usually adding a toggle or YN prompt to a screen isn't that that traumatic. .

Why not change it so it doesn't use a "token"? Probably something to do with time-effort-value. "You knew I was a snake when you took me in." -🌮

Forager Posted Tuesday at 10:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:28 PM (edited) I don't believe that this "problem" requires a solution. It's like camping with people who complain about bugs. Dear OP, the type of people that make remarks about things like group fly are inherently miserable people. It's not possible to satisfy them and the burden of trying isn't yours. Who even are these people? How often does this happen? If they're anything like knockback complainers, they're insignificant in number and kind. MTeague Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I get that, and yet, 35 threads says there is very clearly pent-up demand. The devs are free to ignore that, of course. I find it difficult to accept that for mysterious code reasons only NPC's can grant the necessary tokens. At the end of the day, we're talking about a Boolean flag. "Affect" or "Do not Affect". It should not be beyond the possible for a YN flag under options to work in this fashion. It may not be worth it to the devs to come up with an alternate solution, but I will not accept that it is beyond their skill level to create an alternate solution that uses only a preference. .

Grab the code from ourodev and check it out. Maybe you'll find the easy solution! Though, makes me wonder, have any of the private servers come up with a solution?

Forum posters and their experiences are not representative. A lot of those threads are not complaints about Group Fly. They're complaints about complaints. Unless your team is experiencing multiple wipes, people who complain in-game about... anything really... can be ignored in good conscience. Enjoy your group fly. Play inspired! I have a difficult time imagining myself 'in good conscience' ignoring any legitimate complaint in a team setting. That isn't being excellent to each other.
Forager Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just now, Wobegone said: I have a difficult time imagining myself 'in good conscience' ignoring any legitimate complaint in a team setting. Right. It's not a legitimate complaint by any realistic definition. It's like a kid complaining about his head getting wet at the pool. It's like going in a mosh pit and being mad someone ran into you. There's are general rules and some customs and a limit to what you can reasonably expect, but there's gonna be some contact. You just ignore those kids. It's what's best for everyone. You're not doing anything wrong. They can opt out of the effect. They can opt out of teaming with you. They have complete control over what happens to them. And it bears repeating: the type of person that complains about things like this are inherently miserable. You can't satisfy them and it's not your responsibility to try. 1 The D Squad Arc ID: 68066 Content for Ex-criminals following Blue Spectrum and Officer Daniels after Galaxy City These Ain't Your Daddy's Skulls! That isn't being excellent to each other. Group Fly isn't a legitimate complaint. Sure, new players may not know about the ability to disable Group Fly with Null the Gull. The issue is that the biggest complainers about Group Fly are people who have been playing the game for years, if not decades, and know danged well how to disable it. They're just too lazy to do so and think that they shouldn't have to. Not my problem, nor the problem of anyone else using Group Fly.

I never said it was, although I lean on the side of sympathetic toward a complaint if a TF is started and someone either forgot or didn't know to turn off Group Fly. 2 hours ago, Forager said: Unless your team is experiencing multiple wipes, people who complain in-game about... anything really... can be ignored in good conscience. I was responding to the bolded part. It's rare, but there are other legitimate complaints.
