mechahamham Posted July 17 Posted July 17 So tonight happens to be the first time my lowbie Pyrotechnics/Cold controller has had the opportunity to use cold shields on a Catherine Wheel: Here she is, buffing a higher-level player's pet. And, as we can all see, it uses the same 'still has a hidden bipedal boning rig' that a lot of the amorphous and spherical pets use. You can see each of the compressed limbs outlined in my ice-block shields. I was hoping for something along the general lines of the Pillar of Ice and Flame from Ouro, where you can see the burning object inside a larger crystal. This kinda breaks that hope entirely. I would like to keep the faceted look, though, but if I do, I'm going to be seeing super-compressed Baby New Year every time I look at a buffed Catherine Wheel. I'd like to suggest simply subbing in a different boning rig in place of the bipedal rig currently on display. Would the Rularuu Observer rig suffer this same issue?
Techwright Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Perhaps using the frames of the Will o' wisps and Sprites in Croatoa? That is, if NPC frameworks can port over to player setups. 1 1

My assumption is going on the fact they've been around for most of two decades, and presumably a different team designed them. But I admit the possibility. I don't suppose there's any way currently to ice one to find out?

Sakura Tenshi Posted Saturday at 06:58 AM Posted Saturday at 06:58 AM Uhhh, yeah, hate you break it to OP, but a lot of entities like this use the same “compressed Baby New Year” sort of skeleton. Hit a BP mask, Rikti Drone, gun drone, or whatever with a speed debuff and got can see the invisible limb points. And before you ask about “the rigging used by Battle Maiden’s dancing swords” those are just regular broadswords swing by an invisible character to simulate being a self animated weapon,

Bionic_Flea Posted Sunday at 02:41 PM Posted Sunday at 02:41 PM I'm not seeing it. I see a sparkly wheel in the top center with ice shield type stuff in the center of the wheel and the new "honeycomb" style force field graphics around. 3 players and some undead pets are scattered around the Wheel. But I'm not seeing legs on that wheel. Can someone help a poor, old bug see these legs? 1
