This is just a QoL...

I am trying to remember which online game had the feature that the border of your screen turned red when you were like down to 25% hit points, which at the time made sense to me, because as a player, I would not feel beat up, would need to keep monitoring the hit point bar to realize my lunch is getting eaten.

So a safety feature such as the red border would be nice, I could also support a yellow border when you are below 50%, this would be very helpful to new players or when using new power sets.

Regards

We could also just inform players that the UI is modular and can be moved at-will. That way, if someone finds themselves not paying attention to the health bar in its default spot, they can move it to a place on the screen where they're more likely to notice it. Dead center, directly under the character model is a place I've seen a fair amount of folks use, so I assume it's got pretty solid success rate. UI elements can also be resized and expanded for even greater visibility, too. Which I'd suggest most everyone utilize at this point, with monitors getting broader and broader. The standard scale of CoH's UI is spaced out and relatively tiny on 2025 screens.

As for the screen-wide low health FX, it really wouldn't incentivize improved awareness. Or encourage players to better understand game-specific mechanics, for that matter. It'd just make the 'jumpscare' of getting hurt even more reactionary. If players are already being 'caught unaware' and not learning the signs the game gives, the screenwide pain FX becomes what they rely on instead of learning the actual indicators, and 'the screens red so my health is low' does not remotely cover the massive gamut of status effects and debuffs that characters experience in-game.

Since I pretty much HATE this in other games that do it (or change my vision in first person or of my third person camera in anyway), a STRONG NO THANKS from me.

As an alternative, maybe a short explanation mission of the UI and where to see your hit points could be added to the game. Give it a 1 merit reward as an incentive for folks to actually complete the mission.

I don't want it,  but as long as it's an optional feature (and defaulted to off) I'd be fine if it were added to the game.

What this team needs is more Defenders

I agree that it should be an optional feature, default wise off, but can be turned on if desired additional indicator when your low HP. Or even adjust when it's triggered (10%, 20%, 50%).
