SmalltalkJava Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 (edited) If I have a set bonus that gives like +1 percent to defense on a Toggle ability. Does that +1 set bonus still work if the toggle is off. Here is why i'm asking. I have fly and hover. I am thinking about 3 slotting both with Zephyr. In combat I will just use Hover, but I need to know if I will still get the zephyr set bonus if fly is toggled off. Zephyr 2 set bonus gives 1.25% def bonus 3 slot gives 1.88 % Edited August 1, 2019 by SmalltalkJava Baseline MM Henchmen Defenses and Resist Values MM - Beast Pets - Pet Attack usage and some quick proc testing
Scientist Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 For a set bonus, you always get it, which is why people occasionally slot "mule" powers like Brawl with sets. I saw a build that slotted it with purples, now THAT is dedication to recharge. 🙂 For a proc, it depends on the proc. The Stealth proc, for example, will only run for a short time (1 min?) after you stop using a power. Don't put it in Teleport, for example, as I did early after IOs came out, because it was much cheaper than the Runspeed stealth proc. Kismet I believe only works while the power is used, like that. Luck of the Gambler acts like a set bonus, on the other hand, and gives you +7.5% recharge even if you never use the power.
Williwaw Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 (edited) Set Bonuses are always in effect whether you have the toggle on or not. (Globals also don't require the power to be active - so you will also get the Knockback protection regardless of whether you have the power turned on or not) ... note, however, that the two-slot set bonus and the three-slot are not cumulative with each other. They enhance different values (2-slot is 1.25% Ranged Defense and 0.625% Energy/Negative Defense, 3-slot is 1.875% AoE Defense and 0.938% Fire/Cold Defense). Trademarked Name Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Not your question but some procs state that they only fire when the power is active. I did something dumb and slotted a full set of Panacea (and a lot of inf invested in the ios as well) into a self healing instant and couldnt figure out why i never got the constant auto +end/+heal. Ah dur! Irl i have 3 full sets of self-affecting Stupefy slotted. Ah dur! Irl i have 3 full sets of self-affecting Stupefy slotted. That's the difference between Procs and Globals. Procs only have a chance to activate when the power it's slotted into is used (like Panacea's Chance for +HP/+End or Stupify's Chance for KB) - note that the chance can be 100% (like Regenerative Tissue's Regeneration or Numina's Regen/Recovery) - while Globals work all the time, even when you don't use the power (like LotG's 7.5% Recharge, Unbreakable Guard's +7.5% Max HP, or, confusingly, Preventive Medicine's Absorb Proc*). * The Absorb Proc is really a Global Proc - it only has a chance to activate (like a proc), but that chance is not checked only when you use the power, it's checked all the time. I often slot it in Resurrect powers and it still works.
Extor Prime Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 What about Blessing of the Zephyr KB protection IO? Does it need to be in an active power to give the bonus?
merrypessimist Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Only needs to be in a power that's available, not necessarily one that's active.
