Simple Suggestion: Allow the use of an ampersand (&) in character names

As the thread title states, could we please be permitted to use the ampersand (& symbol) in our character's names?  Thank you!

Ah.  I guess I'll have to stick to using " 'n " or "and", then...   😞

Yeah. The whole game is written in really messy C, and accounting for ampersands in 20-year-old code would be a big pain for a small gain.

 

I do agree that the idea itself would be nice, though.

It is a coding issue. The   is code language for no break space.

 

But I also agree & would be nice to use. I do love that ' and - are able to be used.

+1, and definitely a code thing as mentioned..once or twice. :p

If they get around to rebuilding the codebase from scratch, then I'll bet this is something they'd manage to do once it's upgraded to something more pliable than C.

Before or After the whole zone of ranged come looking for you and then realize they Still can't target you in their rage? :p

I'm thinking anyone/npc that targeted you would end up targeting whatever you have selected instead.
