Pistol/Martial Combat blaster build

Anyone have a build they like? I just go to 50 and there are so many options.


I did like

Combat Jumping/Super Jump, Acrobatics.

Aid Other, Aid Self,

Haste,

Personal Forcefield, Temp Invulnerability, Force of Nature

 

Here's my poor guess at a build:

40 ranged defense: 75 S/L Resists

Can't believe nobody has posted yet, this is a very popular build.

 

I've made a couple now, my first was a cheaper build, softcap ranged DEF only (just under really at 44.x% before Agility Alpha), that took advantage of Aid Self and Personal Force Field when things went south.  But it got me to level 20 Incarnate's with very few deaths on teams.

The second, more expensive build, can farm the ITF solo.  It goes for both max S/L and close to softcap E/F/C DEF -AND- decent Resists as well.  Far more sturdy, but you really don't need this kind of build unless you just are into min/maxing.

Been running this build below on mine for a bit, minus one set and it's doing great. At +4x8, burst of speed into the center of the mob followed by hail of bullets typically leaves nothing but the few bosses sitting at half health.

At 50 use +5, two of them. I generally 3 slot it and respec the slot out.

I've made a couple now, my first was a cheaper build, softcap ranged DEF only (just under really at 44.x% before Agility Alpha), that took advantage of Aid Self and Personal Force Field when things went south.  But it got me to level 20 Incarnate's with very few deaths on teams.

The second, more expensive build, can farm the ITF solo.  It goes for both max S/L and close to softcap E/F/C DEF -AND- decent Resists as well.  Far more sturdy, but you really don't need this kind of build unless you just are into min/maxing.

Lovely builds.  I tend to follow the "Influence is no object" path if the character is fun to play and very effective so I'll be following your second build.  I tend to prefer flight over Super Jump because of my characters themes but I guess my hands are tied in this case.

I'm sure I've updated the second build since then, but it's a good starting point for you.

 

And depending on your power choices, you certainly -can- sub in flight pool for leaping pool.  Hover and Combat Jumping are largely interchangeable, which is really the defensive power that adds to reaching defense softcaps here.  

 

What I'd do is just swap around a few power picks to get Hover/Fly/Evasive rather than CJ/SJ/Acro.  Almost identical outcome.  I did Boost the LOTG in Hover to give you a wee bit more defense.

 

Do keep in mind, however, you are dependent on Barrier to max out your DEF and RES.  Without it, you really only have S/L softcapped.  I generally grab Amplifiers (I've thousands from my Winter Pack purchases) while leveling to max out my defenses but once you've got Barrier T4'd, it's not needed.  That huge DEF boost from Evasive doesn't stick once you get into combat, but you do obviously get a nice DEF boost to jump into spawn to deliver HOB, which is where you'll need it most.  You'll see with Barrier you've basically maxxed out all DEF and RES for the initial duration, but between Barrier and Melee you have a fine farming toon if that's what you'd like (active, not AFK farming...but you likely knew that).  S/L or Fire farms both.

I love mine and only this weekend did I slot any Set IOs or actually take the time to do the Incarnate creation, that's how much fun I have had with Di Di Guns.  Yes I have died a few times but I am a Blaster who is blapping, but to be honest, it hasn't happened a lot.

 

A poster asked about attack chain and here is mine:  Burst of Speed, Scorpions Tail, jump back Empty Clips, Bullet Rain, Repeat.  If the Alpha is up then Burst of Speed, Hail of Bullets, Scorpion's Tail, jump back Empty Clips (and sometimes another Bullet Rain) the survivors then go from there.  Melts most mobs then I engage the Boss with Dual Wield, Executioners shot and Eagle's Claw.  And that was before I build up my Defense through Set IO.  Its just a blast to play, pun intended.

 

Remember there is a +DEF from firing off Hail so the quickness of BoS-->Hail prevents alot of the return fire from connecting then Scorpion's Tail puts them on their hinders while you flip back out and hit em with the cone.  Its glorious.  It makes me tingly!

Wait NO Miracle or Numina Proc AND NO End Mod in the Reaction Time, Stamina or Alpha.  There is no way you are soloing +4/8 content, you simply do not have the Endurance to take out a hard target or mob after mob.  Even if you don't turn on Sprint, Tough, and/or Fly.

My two inf:

I prefer Combat TP over Burst of Speed. BoF does little damage, gives a negligible dmg boost for a short time and has a minute-long cool down after the 3 burst. CTP, on the other hand gives you a +to hit bonus for a short time, recharges faster for another 3 bursts (and possibly longer range???), and has an arguably better animation. Also, you can make up for the damage boost by 2-slotting Adjusted Targeting in it.

Also, with CTP, I use:
/bind [key] powexec_location Target Combat Teleport -- TPs me to a bloke in the middle of the mob so I can unleash a PBAoE or 2
/bind [key] powexec_location Back:30 Combat Teleport -- TPs me back 30 ft (while still facing target) so I can Empty Clips
/bind [key] powexec_location Cursor Combat Teleport -- TPs me to where my curser is which is usually in the middle of the next mob... or far away from it if I'm low on health or if I just got sapped.

Also, DP procs really well and the different powers take a whole bunch of IOs. The possibilities would be a wall of text if I listed them. But a few of my favourites are +smashing, +lethal, -recharge, +to hit, -res. +chance to hold. And depending on the theme of my DP toon (I have a lot... because I likes DP... that sounded dirty, but anyhoo..) Ice Mistral's +Cold, Gladiator's +Toxic, Bombardment's +Fire in keeping with the Swap Ammo line. a lot of powers can also take +energy or +negative energy, as well as +disorient and psionic. There are times when I see a bunch of orange numbers float up with the soul of my dying enemy... too many to discern at once.

instead of Medicine's Injection + Aid Self and Force Mastery's PFF, Temp Invul, and FoN, may I suggest Cold Mastery? I think Frozen Armour offers Fire and Cold res, Hoarfrost is much better Heal than (sucky and interruptible) Aid Self, and Hibernate heals you while your invulnerable/phased -- which is far better than PFF as some attacks can manage to penetrate it sometimes. That leaves you with 2 additional power picks. 

I'm not a fan of Piercing Rounds. So if you drop that, plus the 2 power picks you gained in the previous paragraph, you can take Leadership for more def, more damage, and Tactics -- which if slotted with the full set of Gaussian has really a good 6-piece set bonus. Of course Leadership guzzles end like there's no tomorrow, but a single end redux in Assault and Maneuvres should ease that.

I think this is what I'm running atm.  I went for 32% melee/ranged def to get close to soft-cap with 1 small purple.  I put Eagle's Claw back in for Lolz/Style Points.  The build-up and other procs in Supressive Fire are really nice -- it's generally my opener followed by the PBAOEs.  Not the highest damage or most survivable blaster, but stylish.

Eagle's Claw is not for style, it's for ST Dmg/DPS.

Remind me which attacks in DP/Martial have better DPA than Eagle's Claw?

I play this brand of Blapper (Di Di Guns) and I use Eagles Claw regularly under the following situations:

 

- Putting down heavies that are still holding on.

- Lieutenants that need to be kicked in the face . . . with stilettos.

- AV/Giant Monster fights where the furball simply needs more damage.

- Any time I want to look awesome and Seksi kicking people in the face (and giving team mates panty shots . . . you're welcome).

- It really is useful when solo or on a small team (especially with say a troller)

 

Its a really stylistic attack that does deal a really nice amount of damage and honestly no MC Blaster should be without it becuase style is a significant factor there
