thegee
Is WM/SD better on scrapper or on brute?
Frostweaver
Almost everything is better on a brute.

Frostweaver
health, res cap, damage There are exception, but not many Edited September 7, 2019 by Frostweaver
Seigmoraig
That really only depends on your play style. The thing with Brute is that if you let your fury bar run out, you are severely gimped for a while until you charge it back up. Scrappers have less health and resist caps, but the damage will always be constant
Shoulung
I’d say the only time the difference is really going to matter is when fighting AVs/GMs, where health and resists shine in a prolonged fight. Brutes also clear large groups of mobs quicker, everything else being equal.
Hopeling
Define "better". The scrapper will deal more damage, and benefit more from the +damage buffs. /Shield doesn't have enough resists for the lower scrapper cap to be super important most of the time. Clobber crits are beautiful. You won't need to build fury to deal good damage, which is especially nice when you want to lead with Shield Charge. The brute will be tougher, and can viably tank for a team thanks to the taunt component in all their attacks. 90% resists on top of /Shield's defense is really really good, even if you can only get there during One With The Shield. I think /Shield tends to be slightly better on scrappers than on brutes, but is still very good for brutes, and War Mace doesn't really favor either. It's basically a question of taste. Herotu
Will it be better after the tank buffs that are in beta, though hmm? HMM??? HHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM???????!!!!! ..It only takes one Beanbag fan saying that they JRANGER it for the devs to revert it.
Hopeling
Shield is a beast of a set for tankers. How does Incarnate-softcapped defense, 90% S/L resist, and 87% DDR sound? War Mace will be even nicer after the changes, with Shatter becoming a 90-degree cone and Whirling Mace a 16ft radius.

Holy crap ! I just went and checked those changes out for myself. Guess who is rolling a tanker !

Radiaria
IMO, this is better suited for a Scrapper. SD is a defense-based set. You will be hard-pressed to get it to hardcap any resistances other than Smashing/Lethal and that's really only if you ignore getting other good positional defenses. Brute's higher resistance cap is of no real benefit here. The softcap (45%) is the same Brute vs Scrapper. Scrapper benefits Shield Charge substantially more. Because this power is a psuedopet, the higher base damage of a Scrapper 1.125, will in fact, be of a much greater impact than Brute's Fury, and this power would also disable Brutes from being able to optimally open with it. You'll just do more damage with a Scrapper both AOE and ST in this case and the survivability won't really be affected. IMO, this combo is better suited for a Scrapper but still do-able on a Brute. You know, with a tanker's hit points, many of Regen's 'click to not die' buttons are sort of less important. regen/ would become almost disgusting... think 4k HP, 300 hp/sec heal, insane MOG. That would not preclude something like fiery melee dishing out some serious damage at ALL. Or were you just being simple about me putting in /regen instead of regen/?
