Basically what Linksys confirmed (what I already knew) as a first step. The only Problem with the step is that it's not consistent enough to know when to test. For example, I don't "think" it happened yesterday and I haven't noticed it today either. It Did happen while I was at work Wed though. It's really hard to ping down. Honestly, I thought it was doing it when I started watching the AMZ Prime Video content at first because it just Happened to do it when I'd watch! And then it did it other times and I became confused. I really hate the new Smart Firmware on these as it's rather limited in function in some places (but awesome in others). I Hoping it's the modem as it's theirs and I'm not quite able to replace devices right now ($$). That said, I looked at an Awesome Asus that includes the pipe-dream that is channel binding. :p Honestly, this is what I'm hoping for as it's the easiest (if not the most tedius). I'm currently running something like 20+ devices on the router (I got the EA9300 tri-band for a Reason), so any routing device change will be a headache. Funny enough, I've had the opposite experience. The ONLY reason I've upgraded (from previous Linksys sitting in their boxes) is because I knew that I was going to overburden the device. I guess I was Hoping to get a known solution from all this, but thanks for the confirmations. I've been self-networking since before CoX, but it's still my weakness diagnostic/knowledge wise.

For those that have it, I would also try running it natively on windows via parallels. But I'm NOT going to tell someone to go get parallels Just for that! That would be silly. :p

It also looks like you missed the update where you're supposed to change the manifest to: http://www.savecoh.com/manifest.xml Click on that options button and add it at the bottom of the popup.

Looking into getting a new inexpensive desktop for COH
WanderingAries replied to Richnats's topic in Help & Support
Take a piece of black electrical tape and put it over the optical sensor. You'll have to sort something else out for the buttons though (remapping?) -
Never used it, but I know many had fond memories of it, so bumping for support. ^.^

VEATs - More than 1 Arachnos costume?
WanderingAries replied to Stealthrider's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'd love to go for something that allowed use of the Normal costume sets... -
Are inapropriate names reportable?
WanderingAries replied to OniDaimyo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Hmm, RP concept? Eh, I just figure those that Would do something mentioned above is either drunk or a (pre)teen. :p Honestly, so long as they aren't harassing people or being aggressively vulgar to anyone, then I say let it pass. It's not like they're hogging a name. -
Homecoming codebase and mission statement?
WanderingAries replied to ThePhlebotomist's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
As with any and ALL official coms as not everyone ventures out onto this Discord thing. -
Well crap, that makes me want to upgrade my main system less...And of Course Win7 loses support in 8mo.

Don't feel bad. I couldn't find much of what's there without the search (once someone pointed it out) that I KNEW was there.

So long as it stays in a forum/thread that you can easily identify and ignore, then why not?

I remember this conversation in Live. I forget the response, but don't remember it being what you'd wanna hear.

The problem these "Rogue" servers have is that (as another thread pointed out), like it or not, we're using stolen content to play. Sure you can argue that point, but that's not what I'm getting at. Unless all of the groups come together and decide to become a single entity, then their existence is Exactly like the Linux model only with Every group modding the core code (making them distinct). Unless they all come together, then even the efforts (the little I've read here) of Ouro will become wasted time to those wanting content that is consistent. Sadly it comes down to having too many hands in a cookie jar they don't really own. And in an effort to avoid Actual legal trouble they likely don't want to merge (easier to dodge when you're little). We the players are going to simply have to decide which of these groups we wish to invest our emotions in and stick with it. As for having specific shards for say i24, i25, iWantItAll...that's a rather bad idea as that would promote stagnation and the community. in the end, won't survive that way. ***I'm sure much of this was covered, but after a while of reading text my eyes get a bit crossed. >.<

Confirmed game is running in x86 mode and using 3/4Gb RAM at login/idle.

Why did I get a forced name change yesterday?
WanderingAries replied to Fizzol512's topic in General Discussion
YES, I knew there was a thing about specific dimensions! -
Very true, same can be said about the CC. :p The mention of x86 vs x64 is likely accurate as well and could be a key factor. I vaguely recall the game taking like 1.5Gb RAM on my old play sessions and Now a thought comes in about general crashing at the 2Gb mark, so perhaps it's spot on. Either way I'm not sure how they'd control unoptimized code or if they even understand the codebase enough yet to tackle it. I don't think I've gone more than 1-2hrs so far, so I can't remember hitting this bug yet.

So this isn't specifically about the game, but there's plenty of network smarts on this site to help. I have a cable modem/router in bridge mode via the ISP. I then have a Linksys EA9300 handling the traffic. The issue is that over the recent month or so I've had to either reboot the router or renew the IP manually because we'll experience a random drop in internet. Now, the modem still shows fine and it's a mixed bag whether the router is showing internet or not. Either way, we'll lose internet use until a simply cycle of the IP/router occurs. Normally I'd look into the DHCP lease time, but it's the public IP needing renewed, not the clients and it's almost daily sometimes. Everything is on a SmartUPS w/ surge and we've had no power issues in a while. ALL cables are being surge filtered (ISP is not happy of course) and we've had no issues otherwise with the equipment. Router is Maybe 2y/o and I 'think' the modem is the same age (in home age). Any direction to follow? My schedule makes calling the ISP very restrictive and of course Linksys reminds me that I'm out of warranty when I chat.

Homecoming codebase and mission statement?
WanderingAries replied to ThePhlebotomist's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
IDK about the group, but I remember reading something along the lines of the long term goal being finding a way to make a portable server design so that Anyone can make their own/private server along with what we have now. -
Yeah, laptops also tend to be much warmer due to lack of airflow. I'd also make sure your cooling pad is Pulling air from the same place that the laptop is pushing air out of. IE: Make sure you're evacuating that heat not recycling it. I have to cool my room to roughly 73-75F in order to make sure I'm at a reasonable temp. Sadly, IDK what my GPU temps are at the time because I'd have to walk across the room. :p

Quite possibly, my last intentional AMD was an Athalon2 :p

I swear this is true, but a quick switch to the status page says no. Mind you, it says torch is like 1.5k-1.9k at the time.
-
Doesn't seem to matter much how many people are on (probably atleast 1k on Torch at all times I bet), it always takes like 10-30s. That's why my name-game yesterday took like 2hrs. >.<

How do I get the Going Rogue loading screen?
WanderingAries replied to ceaars's topic in Help & Support
There's a thread or three about this already, but it's something like -altScreen02 (not really, but I remember the 2). -
Any plans to add a Test Server?
WanderingAries replied to Mr. Igneous's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This, until the game is at a point where they can start going from slicing spaghetti (code) to their own lasagna, then this whole thing is a test server.
