  1. Do you need any set recharge set bonuses? If so, both Expedient reinforcements and Cloud Senses give +5% recharge with 4 slots. Slot Dark Servant if you need more protection or slot Imps if you need more damage. If you're good on set bonuses, I'd split the difference. They're both great powers. Maybe try to steal some slots from another power. I think they're both worth investing 5-6 slots. If you're dead-set on one or the other, decide if you want more control or more damage.
  2. It is absurd how tough /dark can get. You get Scrapper resists and defense and regeneration and your controls prevent damage. Dark Servant is a great power. It's probably the most useful power in Dark after Fade and Soul Absorption. I six slot it. I put in 4 Cloud senses for the 5% recharge time, making sure to slot the Negative Damage proc. Then I do the Touch of Nitctus negative energy damage proc and Trap of the Hunter lethal damgae proc. With those sets, Dark Servant puts out a nice ToHit debuff and can do some damage.
  3. I played CoH in my teens. I joined CoH pretty early. I remember when agro caps and ED were added, whenever that was. I stop and started a few times, and I wasn't active in 2012 when the game was shut down. I went from nerdy teenager to nerdy adult. I got a bachelors degree and PhD. I join the working world as a "real adult" in a week. I'm glad CoH wasn't around when I was in grad school. It came out right as I was submitting my dissertation and it took up way too much of my time.
  4. I run a Fire/Dark, and I appreciate the damage from Hot Feet. I am always in melee for Soul Absorption and to make sure Dark Servant's PBAoE debuff is hitting things. I might as well pump some damage out while I'm there. I am soft capped to all damage with good S/L/Psi resists and passable E/N resits. Hot Feet is one of my primary sources of damage.
  5. I use it for damage. Does that mean slotting a PBAOE damage set is best?
  6. How should I slot Hot Feet if I'm using it for damage on my Fire/Dark controller? Right now it's 5 slotted with Obliteration with a generic endurance reduction IO in the 6th slot. I don't have any procs in it. Is there a better way to slot Hot Feet? My build focuses on recharge, so any recharge bonuses are a plus. I can get the recharge elsewhere if there's a convincing argument for different slotting.
  7. I think I'm in a minority but I don't love my Fire/Rad corruptor. It is totally reliant on the toggle debuffs and LR for damage and survivability, but when soloing it has no tools to keep mobs close together for the debuffs. I am not able to solo as well as /Storm or /Dark corruptors.
  8. Just wanted to chime in that the Def bonuses from Shadow Fall and Fade are certainly not modest if you properly build for them. Here are some numbers to give you an idea of what you can do with /Dark Affinity and Incarnate Alpha either Agility or Nerve for +20% Def and since Fade is a click Power you can use Powerboost from Primal Forces Epic Pool. Max DR slotted but with no Incarnate or Powerboost 6% Shadow Fall = 6.5% 4% Controller Maneuvers 16% Fade Max DR slotted with Incarnate Nerve or Agility and Powerboosted Fade 6.5% Shadow Fall = 6.5% 4.5% Controller Maneuvers 27.72% Fade with 122.9% Powerboost from the Patron Pool ---------------------------------------------------- = 38.72% perma pbaoe +Def for your entire team, pets etc. This was really helpful for my Fire/Dark controller. Powerboost pumped my defense up enough that I didn't need Weave. This saved me three power choices (Kick, Tough, Weave) and a few slots. Powerboost + Fade with Maneuvers, Shadowfall, Combat Jumping, and a +3% defense IO puts me right at the defense cap for everything. Maybe a touch below but the ToHit debuff from /Dark makes up for that.

    Fade

I also experience this glitch. I did not know it was a glitch. I thought that's how the power looked.
  10. Why not reduce knockback considerably? Instead of Energy Bolt knockbacking enemies 2 feet back, make it 2 inches. It's an easy fix. IIRC, knockback is number attached to a power. If the number is positive you have knockback and knockdown if it's negative. Cut this number in half for all knockback powers.
  11. Everyone here is so extra. I use the trackpad on my Macbook Pro.
  12. I was asking you to post it in the weird compressed letters-and-numbers formatting so I can paste it into Pines. I have to manually enter it into Pines with how you have it formatted. You're on vacation though. Don't worry about it. I'll just put it in Pines myself.
  13. Makes sense. Can you post your build so I can put it in Pines? Thanks
  14. If you're willing to sacrifice the Dark Epic Pool, you can get Focused Accuracy from Mace Mastery for the extra to-hit buff. That's what I'm doing until the changes to snipe go live.
  15. Dahle, Why Darkest Night so late? I used to main a Dark/Dark defender and I used Darkest Night every mob for the accuracy debuff. It made things safer. or at least appeared to make things safer 10 years ago.
  16. Updated build. I no longer have FIVE pool powers. ~40% ranged defense with perma AM and nearly perma Hasten with 50% S/L resist to boot. No purples or ATO. If I want to add an ATO, universal damage, or winter set at some point, I think I can cap ranged defense. I'll take any suggestions though. It seems like most people try to cap S/L defense, rather than range. Ranged seems do-able without locking me into the Mace Mastery APP for Scorpion Shield. 17. I don't know how I have five pool powers. That will change things. I'll take another shot at this when I get home. Good suggestion on Preventative Medicine. I don't use Choking Cloud. It seems like a huge end drain for very little benefit. I prefer to stay out of melee too. If you have a suggestion for using Choking Cloud, I'd like to hear it.
  18. Can anyone look at my Fire/Rad build? I'm a little off from softcapped range defense and perma hasten and AM. The universal damage enhancements and the ATO's will be rough to get. Otherwise it seems do-able. If anyone can make this work without the universal damage set and corruptor ATO, I would appreciate that. 19. I've finally decided my next toon will be TW/WP. I am undecided between Brute or Scrapper. I would prefer to roll it as a Scrapper, but it seems like WP does much better on Brutes. Brutes have higher HP which translates to more regeneration. How noticeable is this difference? Are /WP scrappers still tough? Is WP flat-out better on Brutes?
  20. Agreed DM is pretty lame sauce when it comes to farming. Can confirm - I originally recreated my DM/Shield from live and dropped PLENTY of inf and time into him only to find that after you nuke a pack with Soul Drained Shield Charge and then Judgement, you slow WAY down. And then feel somewhat clunky when trying to align all cooldowns to do it again. Which was super disappointing given how awesome your burst is. I love the character, but farming isn't in his vocab anymore. I do Shield Charge then Judgement then cycle between Fireball and my single target attack chain until Shield Charge is up again. DM/Shield can farm a bit, but I would never roll one specifically to farm.
  21. I have a level 50+ DM/Shield scrapper, thanks to Murcielago's suggestion :). I love this combination. However, I would not recommend it for farming. I do a bit of farming with my DM/Shield, but only because it is my only level 50. With Shield Charge and Fireball you have enough AoE to clear mobs, but it is far from optimal. I would not build a DM/Shield -- or any DM/ toon really -- with the intention of farming. Other sets do it better. Fire or Bio would clear mobs faster. Maybe even Katana too. If you want to stick with DM/Sheild, I second Murcielago's suggestion for Spring Attack. I used it before I got Shield Charge. It is a nice attack, but on a very long timer. I would frankenslot it to get as much recharge as possible.
  22. It's like your entire experience is a John Woo Flick. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. I have no idea what that means.
  23. Sorry to hijack this thread. I've been considering a TW/Ice scrapper. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with that combo?
  24. I agree with you. Let them shout us out. It seems to that the focus of the game has moved to clearing +4/x8 mobs as quickly as possible. Relatively few people want to take on intentionally challenging content. I am not sure why this is. Unfortunately, controllers are very useful in the difficult content that doesn't get much attention. The solution, for me at least, is to build controllers for as much damage as possible. I don't feel useless on my Plant/Storm because I help clear mobs with AoE damage from my pets (Flytrap, Creepers, Tornado, Lightening Storm), as well as confuse enemies and debuff their defense and resistance. I don't lock down mobs entirely; I mitigate enemy damage while contributing a good bit of my own. The days have passed when a low-damage-high-control Controller is useful. Things are dieing too quickly for an Earth/FF to shine. Don't fight the trend. Join it and build an offensive controller.
