  1. I deleted the entire game and am reinstalling it through Homecoming launcher. This is gonna take a while. I'll let ya know if that did the trick.
  2. I just finished installing the Homecoming launcher as directed. The message persists: Game Client cannot connect to the login server.
  3. Everything I find related to keyword search "cannot login" returns information 2 years old. Today, 2-21-2022, the game client cannot connect to the login server. I have shut off the firewall. The message persists. This is occurring on two Acer computers, one using Windows 7 and another having Windows 10. Tequila is the launcher used. Service provider is Rapid Systems. Is there a solution anywhere out there that isn't related to a topic from 2 years ago?
  4. Sure. One computer OS is Windows 7. Another is using Windows 10. Both are Acer computers. Service provider is Rapid Systems.
  5. I have disabled the firewall. Still the client cannot connect to the login server.
  6. Related to base design additions: Will we be able to place ceiling items in bases clipped above/below the default base area? For example; while creating an outdoor base I've built a mansion but was unable to place chandeliers. Those and other similar ceiling items would only attach to ceilings at the default level. This is, of course, for there being no actual ceilings outside of the default area. Ceilings have to be created by changing positions of other objects which do not count as ceilings. I'd love to be able to place ceiling items in areas outside of the default base level. Another thought is lighting. Many of the lighting objects do not provide light. Will they now?
  7. Vicious Slash is described as having a secondary effect of Knockdown. The power is knocking back instead. I've planned the build for the Knockdown displayed. The character having the power now requires a full rework to fit a different enhancement set or an addition to contain something providing Knockback to Knockdown. I'm not sure if this should have been reported in the Typo section for being unsure if the description display is wrong or if the power itself is functioning improperly.
  8. I look for AE missions that provide Reward Merits, Incarnate components and other types of merits or rewards other than just the xp that comes with any mission. Having played many characters.. as everyone has.. from 1 to 50 I look at the creations of AE for new experience. There are plenty of great missions there. However I find I am ticking away day job time and not getting day job rewards for completing missions (such as Brain Storms). I wouldn't mind if there were other rewards to get.. a Reward Merit or 3 for an arc of missions. .. Maybe some incarnate components. Is there a search criteria I might use to return such a list of missions?
  9. I did miss normal flight speed will be faster for the description on page 1 under Fly reading "speed cap boost" instead of "speed". I understood speed cap to mean speed cap (the maximum the value could be; not any current value lower than what I understand cap to mean). You mentioning here my new Fly speed will be closer to my old Afterburner speed was the enlightenment. I had to go back to page 1 and find where you read this. I located the detail under Evasive Maneuvers. There, under a power that is not Fly is stated that the old Afterburner speed boost will be built into Fly. I made error expecting to read information about Fly that was not under the Fly heading. Had there been no Evasive Maneuvers I would never have found its description of Fly. .. And thank you; I very well may have never looked for information in the wrong place had you not responded so.
  10. Thanks for the information about evasive maneuvers replacement power still being able to accept enhancements. That is a relief. Related to buff vs. nerf; I had not thought of the change being either. The speed is buffed; the duration is nerfed. More speed for less duration is what I mentioned not preferring. I would give up the increased speed to keep afterburner always on. I've tested and calculated a flight from the north wall of Independence Port to the door of the magic store there (2.77 miles away). The character used has a flight speed of 58.63 mph (0.0162 miles per second) and an afterburner speed of 71.63 mph (0.0198 mps). With afterburner on for the entire flight 140 seconds passed to cross 2.77 miles (0.0198*140=2.772). Changes indicate afterburner speed will climb up to 102.27mph (0.0284mps). Then the character used for the test of current flight speeds would cover the distance in 128 seconds (30 seconds of 0.0284mps for 0.852 miles, 30 seconds of normal flight speed of 0.0162mps for 0.486 miles, another 30 seconds of afterburner for another 0.852 miles, again down to normal flight for 30 seconds and another 0.486 miles then finally another afterburner burst for 8 seconds to cover the remaining distance to the destination). This assumes the character has the maximum speed buff from the new change.. which it won't; it doesn't have the maximum speed buff now (which doesn't matter as long as all results are figured from a same scale). The 12 second difference result is tainted by using the maximum buff of the coming change instead of what the speed will actually be on the character. I could figure this out exactly now but the time to calculate isn't in my desire and I'm confident in my ability to estimate number results. I will wait to see combat attributes in game after the changes. After the change to afterburner that 12 second difference will dissolve, I will be left with covering the same distance in the same time and wishing afterburner were left alone in the first place. Such is the way, though, in all things. Not everyone will be pleased all of the time. I will accept the change for having to and enjoy the game just as well.. occasionally fuming when afterburner expires and my character lumbers along for 30 seconds until the power may again be activated.
  11. Afterburner is becoming a free popup power. Does this mean it will no longer be able to be enhanced with a Luck of the Gambler global recharge rate? Many of my builds are just on the edge of permanent clicks.. hasten.. boost range.. most of those builds are not going to be able to find another defensive power to squeeze in to accept the enhancement. Dang.. it's not broken.. don't fix it.
  12. I don't care for the afterburner change of timed duration being half of its new cool down coming. I'd give up the extra speed it will have for 30 seconds to keep afterburner always on.
  13. My Mids v3.0.4.7 loads characters with the yellow proc radio buttons on. Though only a minor inconvenience I've been searching for a way to make procs default off until I decide to click on the button. Is there a way to keep the proc buttons from always being on when loading a build?
  14. Some of my builds run tight on requirements. I rely on observation of slot placement levels a lot to ensure something like recovery is enough up through the levels of a new character advancing. I figured out a fairly easy solution to hold me over until this particular kink is ironed out. I list the power levels (1,2,4,6.. 33,35,38..) in a column in a spreadsheet I always have in the background when playing. Pencil and paper would be just as well. Beside that column are listed the power names I've chosen at each level. In a third column are the level numbers where I actually want slots placed (like 1 Subdual 36,40,42,45,45). Now I gotta tab between the builder and the spreadsheet while leveling but it's not so bad of an inconvenience and allows me to proceed with new character ideas. After those poor fellas are done pulling out their hair fixing stuff I can place the slots on the builder in the order I want and delete that part of my spreadsheet.
  15. I remember before auto sidekick a friend brought a lower level stone tanker to our weekly team. Most of us were on the usual rampage moving as fast as they could. .. So fast they missed defeating the mob the stone tank was holding; a mob 7 levels higher than the tank. He mentioned he could use some help killin 'em but there was no hurry; the mob wasn't hurting him either. Awesome tanking. I never made a Stone tank though; I couldn't bring myself to spend an hour on a good costume just to end up looking like the same rock monster as every other stone character. I may die in horribly twisted ways but I gotta look good doin' it.
  16. Yes; really. .. And ya don't know why.. do ya? Why would anyone use so many words? Hmmm.. moving on.
  17. Nope. You're not alone here. My empathy defender felt useless back in 2008 or somewhere around there. I'd emote reading a newspaper while teammates plowed the road. Healing others became unnecessary. We gotta remember, however, the game ended before new challenges came along. With whatever battles Homecoming fights with NcSoft hope is not lost we will eventually see these new challenges should our guys get some kind of creative rights finally. What I found enjoyment doing is taking that then useless defender to lower levels; exemplar to new players. Defending them as they learned. .. And there's Architect Entertainment. Fire farms abound but also great stories through tough challenges. I remade the defender on Homecoming. The build has usefulness in specific places. I may be the fool for hoping someday the game begins expanding again.
  18. Great Maker not another one. How do you understand "every team" from my description? The ONE particular blaster I described needs a teammate that can hold aggro. On a team of all blasters the build I made is going to be the one getting aggro. It will be doing the most damage. Mobs spawned to match team sizes greater than 3 are gonna cut it down without someone having ability to capture aggro. The blaster is built that way on purpose. Damage, recharge, recovery and more damage. It has an accidental 6% resistance to energy negative and just as accidental 6% defenses. This ONE blaster is meant for teams having aggro control. This ONE. ONE. I think of listening to a radio show with a friend. The topic was some kind of child psychology. The speaker said "a child is not born good." My friend immediately spat out "Well, <speaker's name>, you're an idiot." When I asked why he thought that he told me the speaker just said a newborn is born bad. After 20 minutes of trying to explain that's not what the speaker meant I had the idea to example the logic related to Jackie Chan: "Jackie Chan is black", I said, "he must be because Jackie Chan is not white." Of course the next words out of his mouth were "That's different." .. And of course I asked "How?" He had no answer. "That's different" is the reply from someone that can never be wrong. .. Is spoken quickly without thought first. That's what makes me think "not another one", meaning another hearing one thing and somehow understanding something that was never said. Slow down. Think. Then speak. I welcome intellectual insight.
  19. I've responded once to the stealth tanker fella. Anything further is wasting time trying to bring light to someone who can never be wrong. I'll respond once here as well. You're not wrong. Ya just haven't thought as far as who gets the aggro from line of sight before engagement. That cannot be my fire blaster; a glass cannon. .. And I mean "glass". What very little resistance and defense it has is accidental. I set the blaster for damage buff, recharge and recovery. I don't want behind a Tanker that gets stealth suppressed ONCE he engages the enemy; the darn mobs are gonna SEE me first. One round of attacks from a mob will kill this particular cannon. It's a team blaster. Sure the Tank may get aggro after a first volley from a mob not prepared for is launched. The cannon will be just as dead. I need my shield teammate to be seen first. After aggro is assuredly not addressed toward me then I let loose. Less than full volley is gonna burn everything. .. Almost everything. The AV is gonna take 4 shots. For anyone disappointed with Rain of Fire.. grab the villain patron Electrifying Fences; AOE immobilize. Mobs will take full ticks. It's a fun combo but related to survival I don't use it much for HAVING to destroy all enemies fast.
  20. On my build I didn't take taunt. I took provoke in it's place 'cause I planned for having the fear powers from that pool anyway. I tried increasing resistances and defenses first but that fell short on recharge rate needed for maintaining permanent fear effects. Then I realized resistance and defense wasn't so important.. the dang mobs are feared and not attacking much. Doh! Permanent Hasten had to be part of the build. I squeezed mine in at level 28. I try to get key concepts in at level 30 or before for considering what powers I would keep were I to exemplar to the first PvP area, Bloody Bay. Thinking back on the reading I did yesterday I recall the banter between you and the fella thinking stealth on a Tanker was a good idea (for solo sure; for a team.. not if I'm the one getting pummeled instead of the unnoticed Tank) and remembered he mentioned his Stalker. Unrelated to the Tanker topic here I think of my Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu build. With Concealment Misdirection and Presence Pacify the thing has 4 placates; 2 28 second recharge single targets and 2 AOE placates (56 second and 112 second recharges, no hasten) crammed in at level 30 or before. Who in PvP would be prepared to be hit with 4 placates? Mwahahaha!
  21. I've read this back and forth for a while now. Enjoying your build is most important. However if I'm on a team with a tanker having stealth activated I'll be leaving that team as soon as I notice. A tanker under stealth is only gonna get me killed for not TANKING mobs away from me.
  22. First consider what you're not thinking about a tank derived from the words "last person standing". If you're a tank there should be no one last. Everyone should be standing at the end of the fight. Often I have joined blasters, controllers.. other types boasting of their ability to tank this or tank that yet their teammates get defeated. Tanking is not only killing and surviving. A tank will maintain aggro no matter what anyone else does. If you're teammates are dying you're not tanking. Ya may as well make a scrapper. To the question; hmm.. an unstoppable tank. I have a few ideas of what they are and verified the results from playing the builds. I like the classic invulnerability/super strength invention set for defense and enough recharge for permanent rage. Recovery never was any trouble up through the levels thanks to monitoring values with Mids (thank you, Bopper and your Mids team). I run a beautiful dark/dark tank built to instill fear. With the newest change to Touch of Fear making the power an AOE the tank maintains 8 magnitude fear AOE and 11 magnitude single target. Recovery is also not a problem here; recharge sets to operate permanent fear also assists Dark Consumption cooldown. The fear tanker has less resistance and defense than other tanks however when mobs only break fear every few seconds to get off a single attack I find using Dark Regeneration is not even necessary. Fear tanker also keeps going without rest. I wanted a solo AV killer. My first attempt was rad/rad tank for reading Radiation Therapy's description mentioning it caused Foe -regen. For a long time I had not noticed the -regen effect does not apply to critters. When I did notice I checked Mid's database editor to find the answer. The -regen power does not apply to critters; it's a PvP application. Scrap one rad tanker. The second attempt at solo AV killer tanker kept radiation melee but switched out primary for Bio Armor. There I found DNA Siphon which DOES affect critters with -regen. Invention set for recharge and defense the build also never stops fighting for self heals cooling down in a timely manner, recovery well above average and having near cap defenses. Recharge was needed to ensure permanent -regen on an AV and everything turned out sweeter for DNA Siphon being PBAOE. Bring on Hopkins and Countess Crey at the same time! A favorite a little away from tanker is an Electric Melee/Shield Defense brute. The build would work well as a tank though my purpose was as much damage buff as possible for the triple hit Spring Attack/Lightning Rod/Shield Charge. Brute Fury was the desire to add to the overkill. Ya.. I've seen the chatter about how underwhelming Spring Attack is. Beef it up! The build doesn't have the tanker gauntlet that makes the simplest attacks PBAOE taunt. Teammates still survive after the brute dishes out 2260 damage AOE before activating Thunder Strike and Chain Induction (usually there's nothing left to attack after the triple slam recharging each 38 seconds). Resting was needed after 4 fights or so until reaching level for Superior Conditioning (which keeps the brute going non-stop after that point). It's invention set for recharge (again the recharge.. I do go in for that on most builds) and did not need much in sets to overcap defenses. Unfortunately I don't show it off much on teams. No one else gets to kill a darn thing except an occasional stray runner. Who hasn't tried their hand at a Fiery Aura/Ice Melee Tanker? After seeing a controller's Ice Patch everyone just gets the idea to lay one down with a Tanker and Burn enemies flopping like fish outta water. This one is invention set for defense as a primary concern. It ended up with 36 defenses, lower than usual smashing/lethal resists but still tanks well with Healing Flames and Consume (20 second cooldown and 77 second cooldown) picking up slack when something does manage to stand up and attack for a moment. As the others this one never needs to stop fighting. Something with a little of everything: Martial Arts/Energy Aura. This one only comes in Brute form. The Tankers don't get Energy Aura at this time. .. Thus the Martial Arts for Cobra Strike stun and Dragon's Tale PBAOE to make up a little for the lacking Gauntlet taunts (and some Cross Punch cone thrown in). Invention set for defense with pool power defenses has overcapped almost everything (psionic defense is low) and it has 45 resistances to almost everything (fire/cold is low). Energy Drain and Energize keeps it fighting forever. I've made other Brutes that fight forever but are not designed to tank so are not mentioned here in response to the original curiosity of what kinds of Tankers are unstoppable. Remember; tanking is not only killing and surviving. Tankers keep aggro off of everyone else.
  23. The new sgmusic command is great. I got my .ogg files in the correct place and working fine. However I am uninterested in using the command unless visitors can hear the music. All the CoH music files from the suggested link are .ogg files. Those must also be in another's ogg folder for them to hear the music. I see that .pigg files in the pigg folder will be heard by everyone. Is there a link to the CoH music in .pigg form?
  24. Right ty. Don't know what I was thinking. I'll be asking there.
