I was noticing how rare respec recipes have become at the auction house (only 2 available for sale right now). Anyone who's seen this before have a guess as to how soon these shortages work themselves out? Thanks!

The Reward Merit vendor has Respec recipes if for some reason a player needs to buy them. I wouldn't recommend purchasing Respec recipes like that because of how pricey that is (equivalent is 50 million inf for 1 Respec recipe). They also drop from opening Super Packs too.

  2. Great people of this forum, I am looking for your input on the approximate dates (and lengths) of special seasonal and other events ran on Homecoming each year. If I missed anything or if the dates (or lengths) are off, I'd appreciate you writing the correct information.

    Annual Homecoming Special Events:

    • Spring Fling Seasonal Event: Beginning in February each year, lasts 1 month.
    • Mapserver Madness: Begins the first week of April (week of April Fool's Day), lasts 2 weeks.
    • Anniversary Event: Beginning the last week of April each year, this event lasts 1 month.
    • Summer Blockbuster Event: Available year round via the LFG tab.
    • Halloween Seasonal Event: Beginning in October each year, lasts 1 month. Additionally, Atlas Park undergoes a zone wide makeover to reflect the spooky season (i.e., Atlas globe replaced with a Pumpkin, Gazebos with candy-filled cauldrons, Jack o'lantern and spider decorations around Atlas Plaza, autumnal variants of trees, and a pumpkin patch and associated NPC in the grass by the Atlas Plaza steps). Following the Halloween Seasonal Event, Atlas Park undergoes another zone wide makeover for the Fall theme.
    • Winter Seasonal Event: Beginning in December each year, lasts 1 month. Additionally, Atlas Park undergoes a zone wide makeover to reflect the Wintery season (i.e., Atlas Park covered in snow/ice)

Special One-Offs (a lot of work to put these events on!)

    • Derek's Disaster: Began in the month of July in 2020 and lasted three weeks. This event has not been ran since (Derek's got a better handle on the time stream!).

    Regular or Triggered Special Events

    • Nemesis Plot Invasion Special Event: Formerly an annual event, now triggered by completing the last mission of Episode 5 of the Pandora's Box Signature Story Arc. The event will spawn in the zone matching the character's alignment.
    • Rikti World Invasion Special Event: Formerly a special event following the completion of the City of Heroes beta in 2004, and then again in 2007 with the release of Issue 10, the Homecoming Team has activated it at their discretion over the past few years. This special event is currently triggered by completing the Lady Grey Task Force. The event will occur in a random zone in Paragon City and/or the Rogue Isles and last for a short period of time.
    • Zombie Invasion Special Event: This event is triggered by completing the Katie Hannon TF or Virgil Tarakoss SF.

I'd like to see the City of Heroes beta Rikti invasion event back in early 2004 get added in future Anniversary events (like how Homecoming recreated the Wedding Event recently), I think it would be a neat recreation for the community to experience that for an event few of us that are still around got to participate in, but that suggestion belongs in a different thread!

I suggest (and have before) a bonus to characters that are much loved by their player.

At Vet level 100 you get 1 bonus enhancement slot.

This is quite achievable by standard players who stick with one character.  It is not game breaking.  To me, it seems like a reward in standard with the other types if rewards a character gets.  It is, of course, a completely different type of reward than currency, badges, accolade powers, incarnate, etc.

The goal here is two fold.  To encourage the long term development of “main characters”, which i believe 1) increases a players connection to the game 2) increases level 50+ play. The second point is debatable whether that is needed, but it is a goal and i believe this would further that goal.

Love the intent, disagree with the method.

I've kept my main at Veteran Level 99 for five and a half years. Folks can see in my description when I created the character, how many badges I've collected, how many vanity pets and Aether costumes I've collected, and based on my reputation on Indomitable, the sole shard I've stayed on the whole time. Or players can check the notes they have on me.

I've always said the reward is playing the game. At least I find it rewarding in of its self.

I can't find any option to decrease my effective level on the Open Beta pop menu.

Edit: My comment said "Go on to the beta shard and use the freebie popmenu to select which level you want to play at." I didn't say anything about decreasing your effective level on the Open Beta pop menu.

it's an opinion. It's been my experience on every private server that allows it. the lower the population the more harmful multiboxing has been. less people = less opportunties for grouping. multiboxing = less opportunity for grouping. the negative effects are compounding. homecoming is the most popular, but now I have to question how much of that population is unique players.

It's pretty clear when someone is multiboxing, so there's not much to question.

multiboxing is a blight and a pox ESPECIALLY when low-pop. it rewards players for being antisocial in an mmo, and punished players who want to find other players to group with. now that I know it's permitted here I don't think I'll keep playing.

Do you have any evidence that supports this claim? Homecoming has been around for almost six years and they've allowed multiboxing the whole time. They're the most popular server too.

  7. I think the Ancillary Powerset Ice Mastery Frozen Armor on Controllers is even better than the Corruptor version - which is already in a great spot. Values are higher across the board. The fact that players can slot resistance or defense IO sets makes this a very versatile power for build prioritization. Note: The Controller version also provides 30% Cold res and 10% Fire res as well.

  8. Don't change anything. The lights are still on, we haven't been shutdown, and the community is still here. You're not going to please everyone with the decisions you have to make - forum moderation is probably the most thankless job in a gaming community. That being said, it's healthy for the community to see a thread like this and I look forward to reading constructive input.
