That doesn't actually respond to what the post you quoted said. The cited post says that one of the player's PCs can't run the HC launcher, so swapping to it isn't exactly viable.

    Updated my quote

An older spare PC of mine still uses Tequila, has Tequila been retired or is there a glitch? Tried revalidating and still no update

Well to answer your specific question...

It is recommended that users switch to the Official Homecoming Launcher.

Wow I really had crap luck.

If you think that's bad, imagine having a full tray of inspirations then doing the time capsule run, only to remember at the end that the event grants unique inspirations 🤦‍♂️

I've got the same problem. Impossible to log in tonight 😞

Download the Official Homecoming Launcher and you won't have that issue.

Huh.  Wonder why they felt the need to change it.  It wasn't like it was broken or anything...

HC Launcher has three primary design goals: Speed, Security, and Compatibility.

Speed: The launcher is supposed to get you into the game, it shouldn’t take any longer than absolutely necessary to fulfill this function. Tequila and several other launchers are based on .NET, and as a result have noticeably slow startup times on some systems. HC Launcher is designed not only for fast startup and faster patching, but also to avoid long and unnecessary file verification, or delays due to Internet latency.

Security: This has been a frequent criticism of Tequila and its use of unauthenticated manifest files. By putting in a manifest file, you are in effect trusting the author of that manifest with complete access to the user account you’re running it under, since it can download and run arbitrary code. It also lacks protection against man-in-the-middle attacks, making it impossible to know if a malicious third party has hijacked the manifest. HC Launcher addresses all of those issues by using strong cryptography to verify the integrity of itself and everything it downloads. More details can be found in the technical deep dive post.

Compatibility: HC Launcher is written in C and uses many of the same libraries as the game itself. As a result, it should run in any environment that is capable of running the game, such as wine on Linux/Mac, without any additional work.

Important note: HC Launcher uses a different file layout for the client install, reorganizing it to make it easier to manage. As a result, it cannot coexist with Tequila and must be installed to a different location. By default it attempts to locate existing files to avoid having to redownload them, as well as migrate user data. More information about the new layout is available in the technical deep dive post.

Congrats Homecoming, congrats City of Heros devs old and new, and congrats to all of us who love this game/our Home!

I already love the event! I love the winter event presents, so this is great, plus variety of ambush spawns, keeps it fun, and the old school ones are awesome! Love having some old 'friends' show up to help!

Looking for this - I'm the kind who needs it spelled out - how long is the time capsules event running? Is it all month (May)?

I looked but didn't see when it ends either in the announcement or today's patch notes - how long do we have?

It began April 30th and will continue through May 28th.

They don't need to be.  They're already displayed in full if you hover over the health bar for a moment.  The suggestion is just pitching that that number be visible without needing to mouse over it for a moment since that's really impractical.

I think expressing the number as a percentage makes for a less cluttered target window. Or make it optional like target distance.

Sigh. Took 118 capsules to get all the badges. Worse than the Winter event.

I wish there was a way to increase the spawn rate of CoT and Rikti.

Were you solo or on a team?

What triggered the message?  Did just entering Raimi Arcade (presumably for the character's first time) trigger this, and if so, why does it say "fallen into"?  I don't remember Raimi Arcade specifically.  Is there a broken open area there?

It's the Dark Astoria introductory arc.

I just want to know how to get the badge.  I go to the payphone and it says call cannot be completed.  One of the threads I was reading said this:

    • Accessing this story arc requires having completing Doc Buzzsaw's newest arc.

Is that the Freakish Lab arc?  Do I need to change to red and then to blue to get this badge?

    Yes

  12. They backwards engineered the Mediporter technology.

They are a robust species with many willing citizens to support their cause.

There's time travel shenanigans at work.

    I guess pick your headcannon.

  13. I may be misrembering this, but I feel like it used to just be Log Out and Quit to Desktop in the very early legacy days.

I'm all for rearranging though - it's only funny the first few times when you click the wrong one and the countdown is 0 seconds lol

Was looking at working on this with a friend, am I correct that souvenirs will only go to the arc holder, but that EB/AV defeat credit goes to anyone on the team?

I'm also not clear how you check these jail cells to see who you are missing?

    The first question, yes.

The second, you go through the arc and see who you have and then check who is left.

  15. To further add to the original post, the Seed of Hamidon zone event grants a temporary XP boost power.

The Cathedral of Pain does also.

And there's an additional Day Job Temporary power that grants additional mission completion XP.

I'm not suggesting that their locations be changed, but that they be put on a personal timer like the Hallowe'en doors for reclicking purposes. I've always found the winter event boxes frustrating if I wanted to gather a bunch of them and was a minute behind someone else who'd already clicked. It's not game-breaking; just, as I said, a nuisance.

There are 50 or more presents in each zone and there are 25 Hero, Villain, Praetorian, Co-op and PvP zone with presents. They respawn in approximately 8 minutes each. And there are five servers to choose.

  17. The VEATs are exactly what you're looking for - especially the Arachnos Widow. It's got better than Sentinel ranged and AoE damage, it's got Tank-levels of damage mitigation, it's got lockdowns and soft-controls, and you'll be able to solo +4/8 all content in the game or add fantastic buffs to any team with double stacked leadership buffs.

Arachnos Widow can also be male.
