Point is those sets lost something, so they got something. Electric Armor didn’t lose anything. Likewise, you’ll have to lose something if you want this Willpower buff.
Talking about how Hurricane is a great power if you know how to use it is not impressive to me. I know how to use it. Most do. I don’t know how to justify using it when it’s, ya know, completely unnecessary. It’s way easier to just spam Freezing Rain, Tornado, and Lightning Storm and blast in between, and I don’t miss the tohit debuff at all.
Steamy Mist, Freezing Rain, Tornado, and Lightning Storm are your core do-not-skip powers. Both Tornado and Lightning Storm should have a KB->KD, an FF proc, and solid damage/recharge slotting.
It’s just that Sonic’s own damage is rather lackluster, so it’s better at being a force multiplier for other sets. Fire, Ice, etc are going to do better damage on their own.
The only reasons to play a Brute include:
- /Fire farming
- Tankiest versions of /Regen and /Energy
- Scrappiest version of Super Strength
So it’s gotta involve some of that. I voted Rad/Fire/Mu for most meta even though I run Spines/Fire/(Energy or Pyre).
Well, that’s one way to build. I just prefer offenses over set bonuses on Blaster. I use Barrier/inspirations/teammates for survival and don’t pursue defense bonuses at all. With that in mind, I would typically have 2 damage procs in Blaze, 3 in Blazing Bolt, and 5 in Char. Probably some in your secondary’s heavy hitter too. But, again, that’s if you can stand life without defense bonuses.
I give Frigid Protection a couple of cool points for being Absorb instead of Regen, but I give Metabolic Acceleration perhaps a point or two more for not drawing aggro.
Ultimately, I also think /Ice has the more appealing melee attacks while /Atomic has Beta Decay. So it’s a tough choice between the two. If you have enough damage from Primary/Ancillary, maybe lean /Atomic for the +recharge. Otherwise, consider /Ice.
EDIT: I see you referred to Freezing Touch and Positronic Cell as copies. This is not the case. Freezing Touch is a melee attack and does a lot of damage before procs are even considered. Also, yeah, don’t skip Beta Decay.
