  1. Any time I've done MSR with a melee character, it was damn near impossible to actually close in on an opponent in the bowl. So I can see why people might start picking off targets on the perimeter instead.
  2. All of this. The potential for abuse and griefing is huge. I genuinely feel bad for PvPers, and wish they could have a version of the game that they could enjoy. But keep that stuff far, far away from me.
  3. Ok, Smartypants, explain to me how hanging out in train stations makes you run faster. 😋
  4. That hasn't been my experience.
  5. It's a bit of a stretch, but maybe you could earn uses of the Reveal power? "You've worked on so many construction projects, you know these buildings like the back of your hand."
  6. The bottom part of this map, what I call "The Swastika Suite", always annoys me when it turns up. I get irritated any time I have to keep coming back to the same central area over and over again. Another one on the tech maps is that bit where you have the four connected rooms, each with a big glass booth in the center. Very monotonous when you have to circle around each one in turn looking for hostages or glowies.
  7. In other words, people who actually like the game. The whole point of Homecoming is that people loved the old game and wanted to play it again. I'm sorry that you're bored with it. But handing out free accolades just because you don't want to go through the steps to earn them makes about as much sense as handing out free Shivans and Nukes because I don't want to PvP.
  8. I thought it had plenty of impact, it was just a little too nihilistic for such an otherwise optimistic film. Disagree. The fact that Superman cares deeply about everyone, including some rando he barely knows, is a major theme of the film. (After typing that, it occurred to me you might be making a sly reference to Batman v. Superman, which actually did that. Only the scene was so perfunctory that a lot of viewers didn't even realize the character was supposed to be Jimmy. If so, never mind. 😋)
  9. If getting those accolade boosts becomes a trivial matter, then that does impact game balance to some degree. Would it be game-breaking? On its own, nah. But it's another degree of power creep in a game that people already complain is too easy.
  10. Sure, but you're never going to get to a place where everyone likes all parts of the game equally, because people enjoy different things. I almost never do Task Forces. If the devs tried to alter Task Forces so I would do more of them, they'd have to change them so drastically that it would probably just ruin them for the people who like them now. Theoretically, there could be some huge mass of potential players out there who share my peculiar tastes and would flock to the game in those circumstances. But probably not. Incremental adjustments? Sure. Major alterations? Total crap shoot. Remember when the live devs "fixed" PVP?
  11. Everything in this game is a balance between effort and reward. Is the reward worth it to you? Then you put in the effort. If it's not, you don't. Nobody's holding a gun to your head either way. I think grinding for Incarnate salvage is the most annoying, repetitious, tedious process imaginable. So you know what I did? I quit doing it. The game became exponentially more enjoyable. If you don't think the accolades are worth the effort required, skip 'em. I don't usually chase them, either. The game isn't that hard, you'll be fine.
  12. 1. I don't recall exactly when I started...it was sometime after City of Villains was added, but before Going Rogue. I'd never played an MMO before, but I was active in the Freedom Force community, and lots of people there were super into it. So I gave it a try, and once I got the hang of the basics, I was hooked. 2. Besides the general superhero theme, I like that it's solo- and casual-friendly. I can pop on for an hour, run a few missions, and feel like I've made meaningful progress. Side stuff like costumes, bases, and AE are fun little mini-games in their own right.
  13. That bothered me too. I suppose it served it's purpose, in that it Still, the movie hit so many right notes, I can't complain too much.
  14. I have one character who I created to be my sole "badge hunter" (They're a re-creation of the alt I had on Live for the same purpose). I only got so far with it before I got bored, though (those crafting badges were a slog!). I'll still pull them out whenever a new badge is introduced, if it's reasonably easy to get.
  15. I think it makes sense that the badges for creating arcs are account-wide, since that's something the player does, rather than an individual character.
  16. I like that the badges serve as a record of what that particular character has accomplished. It would feel very weird if my brand new level 1 toon came out of the tutorial sporting a chest-full of medals like some banana republic dictator. But that's just me. For those of you who want this: Right now, anyone can click on your character and see which badges they've earned. Would a second screen showing the sum total of ALL the badges you've earned on ALL your alts scratch that itch for you? Or would you still want the actual badges on each individual alt?
  17. The ones that get me are the big outdoor city map. Finding hostages is even worse, since they don't make any sound...
  18. Animations would be tricky, since characters and enemies can be of such wildly different sizes. Imagine what it would look like if a faerie-sized character tried to put a Kronos Titan in a headlock! But I agree, it would be a fun and unique style of combat if it could be worked out.
  19. Funny, my view is pretty much opposite: I could maybe see having an alternative way to get the "boost accolades" (e.g., I wouldn't mind a solo-friendly way to get Task Force Commander). But I feel like the badges that have no benefit other than "bragging rights", you should have to get the old-fashioned way. Because otherwise, what's the point?
  20. I'd like to hear your reasoning as to why you think this is needed. Is there some content you're wanting to do that you feel is somehow dependent on having certain accolades?
  21. Does it? It seems like this section of the forums gets a fair bit of use. As has been pointed out, people disagreeing with and criticizing a suggestion actually keeps the thread visible longer. Which means it increases the chance that some dev will notice it. You're welcome.
  22. "Some people can read War and Peace and come away thinking it's a simple adventure story. Others can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe." - Lex Luthor
  23. If this section of the forums bothers you, or you think it's pointless, you can always stop reading it.
  24. The problem is not that the writing has gotten too political. The problem is that certain political factions have become so blatantly, absurdly, cartoonishly evil that they fit perfectly into an over-the-top comic book story.
