I think it makes sense that the badges for creating arcs are account-wide, since that's something the player does, rather than an individual character.
-
I like that the badges serve as a record of what that particular character has accomplished. It would feel very weird if my brand new level 1 toon came out of the tutorial sporting a chest-full of medals like some banana republic dictator. But that's just me. For those of you who want this: Right now, anyone can click on your character and see which badges they've earned. Would a second screen showing the sum total of ALL the badges you've earned on ALL your alts scratch that itch for you? Or would you still want the actual badges on each individual alt?

Corner-case power for S.T.A.R.T. vendor

The ones that get me are the big outdoor city map. Finding hostages is even worse, since they don't make any sound... -
Animations would be tricky, since characters and enemies can be of such wildly different sizes. Imagine what it would look like if a faerie-sized character tried to put a Kronos Titan in a headlock! But I agree, it would be a fun and unique style of combat if it could be worked out.

Funny, my view is pretty much opposite: I could maybe see having an alternative way to get the "boost accolades" (e.g., I wouldn't mind a solo-friendly way to get Task Force Commander). But I feel like the badges that have no benefit other than "bragging rights", you should have to get the old-fashioned way. Because otherwise, what's the point?

I'd like to hear your reasoning as to why you think this is needed. Is there some content you're wanting to do that you feel is somehow dependent on having certain accolades?

No Point of Suggestion (at this rate)
JKCarrier replied to LightMaster's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Does it? It seems like this section of the forums gets a fair bit of use. As has been pointed out, people disagreeing with and criticizing a suggestion actually keeps the thread visible longer. Which means it increases the chance that some dev will notice it. You're welcome. -

Robert Kogan's Arc (Major Benjamin's writing quality)
JKCarrier replied to RunUpGetDoneUp's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The problem is not that the writing has gotten too political. The problem is that certain political factions have become so blatantly, absurdly, cartoonishly evil that they fit perfectly into an over-the-top comic book story. -
Story Structure: Arc-based or mission based?
JKCarrier replied to Forager's topic in Mission Architect
In the one arc I've published so far (see below), the first few missions are meant to feel like stand-alone stories. There's a bit of a time-jump between each of them, and no obvious connection tying them together. But I also tried to create a sense of escalating stakes -- things are getting stranger and more unhinged the farther you go along. Then the final mission explains what's really going on, and (hopefully) puts the previous episodes into a context that makes sense. One of my inspirations was the Marvel show "WandaVision", which starts out as a classic episodic sitcom, but slowly pulls back the curtain to reveal a larger story. -
Probably not feasible, but how cool would it be if you could purchase the ability to summon one of your own alts? Kinda like dual-boxing, but the computer would handle the other guy for you.

The way I got around this was by sinking the wall sections into the floor, so the tops are flush with the top of the door. And then stacking another wall section on top of that.

What is the coolest enemy in the game?

Just based on style, gotta be the Freakshow. That retro-80s cyberpunk vibe is just...chef's kiss. -
Well, I'd never need to roll another alt. I could just play the same guy forever, since he'd never get out of single-digit-levels... 😱

What would be the most annoying thing to find in an AE mission?

Oops! All Sappers! -
Well, I wish you good luck, @FFFF. I did a lot of Incarnate Trials back on Live, since that was the "Hot New Thing" at the time. But they tended to fall into one of two categories: 1) The leader didn't know what they were doing. Which meant a miserable slog full of dying and respawning that ended with everyone getting fed up and quitting. 2) The leader knew exactly what they were doing. Which meant the kind of robotic speed run you experienced. Neither was my idea of a good time, so I eventually gave up. I hope you can find a way to make 'em work for you.

Speaking of factions that are annoying to hunt: Good luck trying to smack down Council troops, when they're inevitably surrounded by 5th Column who fire off explosives and slaughter them before you can even think about approaching...

I'm by no means rich, but it doesn't matter, because I don't have expensive tastes. 😉 I don't bother with Purple recipes, because I rarely play my 50s. By the time I reach 50, the character usually has a little nest egg of Inf (typically 200-300 million) that I pass on to my next alt. That seed money, plus whatever they earn along the way, is more than enough to set them up with Common IOs, the usual Health and Stamina procs, plus whatever other cheap sets I feel like experimenting with. I could make my characters more powerful, but then I'd have to grind or farm or marketeer, and I don't wanna.

A controversial topic: is it time to make all items free?
JKCarrier replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in The Market
The fact that so many people find your playstyle bizarre and incomprehensible is probably a good indication that the game shouldn't be altered to conform to it. My playstyle is pretty weird, too -- I basically ignore all group content and treat it like a single-player game. If I came on here and started a thread called "Is it time to eliminate all teaming?", I would expect a lil' bit of pushback. -
After some consideration, I decided to try out a straight alphabetical arrangement, as many of you have: I'll probably get rid of the faction color-coding...I don't like the way it looks, and I'm usually parked on Vigilante or Rogue alignment anyway, so it really doesn't matter...
