  1. Agreed, that's pretty aggravating. Is this a new thing? I swear, I don't remember it being such an issue until recently. I can't say that I've noticed this, but I'm usually running at x1, so it's probably less obvious...
  2. That does seem a little sus. I was solo ToTing and got the 10 and 25 badges within an hour or two.
  3. Alas, not everyone is as sanguine (no pun intended) about bad PUGs as you are, Snarks. 😉
  4. Me, getting ready to fight Silver Mantis...
  5. I'll admit, one of the reasons I don't team very often (besides just being kinda anti-social) is the fear that I'm going to screw things up for everyone else with my general ineptitude.
  6. Keep your filthy paws off my Inspirations. Some of us need all the help we can get.
  7. You gotta wonder: If PvP is so fun, why do devs have to go to such great lengths to trick/coerce players into doing it?
  8. Same. The difficulty in these large group activities tends to be very binary. Either you're an expert, or you're a liability. The learning curve is a vertical line. 😛
  9. I know, I know, it's kind of a jerk move, but like I said...best I can do. I try to be a good sport, and I'm perfectly willing to let someone score a victory (which I assume helps their "ranking", or counts towards a badge, or something...LOL I literally have no idea how PVP works). But I'm not going to stick around and repeatedly be a punching bag in their reindeer games. I got stuff to do.
  10. I've been to the PVP zones a number of times, usually hunting badges (I used to be very diligent about getting all the exploration badges on every alt, since it was an easy way to get merits in the early game. Nowadays, I mostly don't bother). In all those times, both here and on the old live servers, I've never seen another soul in those zones. I wouldn't complain if someone came after me. That's what the zone is for, after all, and I'm the one intruding. I'd probably just stand there, let them get their "win", and then leave and come back later. Probably not very satisfying or fun for the PVPer, but that's about the best I can do for them. 😉
  11. I use Discord for other things (including pen-and-paper RPGs). But the one time I joined a team in CoH that was using it, it got very annoying very quickly. People arguing with their spouses, dogs barking, music blaring, etc. etc. No thanks.
  12. I really should do that, since (aside from my one "badge toon") I always quit playing an alt once it hits 50. And I have done it a couple of times. But there's this annoying voice in the back of my mind saying, "One of these days, they'll come up with endgame content you actually like. And then you'll be glad you still have all those old toons with their enhancements intact."
  13. Yeah, unfortunately Null is not well-documented or advertised within the game. I think the only place he's mentioned is one of those loading screen tips that flash by for 0.5 seconds when you enter a mission. And even if a player knows about Null, they might not realize why GF can be a problem, until they experience it. I know that was the case with me...I left the setting alone, thinking "What's wrong with flying?" until I got on a group where it was used, and then I was all "Holy cow this sucks, where's Null?"
  14. As long as both parties are satisfied with the outcome of the transaction, it's a win-win. I'm happy to pay extra to get that Performance Shifter proc *right now*. Yes, I could get it for cheaper if I was willing to wait, but why bother? Inf practically rains down from the sky. What else am I going to do with it?
  15. Ok, but only if we also get a "BMX" powerset:
  16. I can see where having the spawn points memorized would make it a breeze, yeah. I unfortunately don't, and finding those last couple civilians on a city map can be a real chore (at least glowies make a noise!).
  17. I generally play one alt at a time. By the time I get to 50, I'm usually getting itchy to try something new, so I retire them and start a new one. I have one 50 that I pull out occasionally to see how many badges I can get for him. I also use him to craft common IOs for whatever alt I'm currently levelling, since he has all the recipes memorized. The rest just sit there.
  18. Sure, but in the meantime, I feel like I'm ruining other players' fun. A couple weeks back, I got a tell asking me to join a Ms. Liberty TF. I thought, "Gee, if this guy is so desperate for teammates that he's pinging random people on the server, I guess I'll be a good neighbor and help out". But I wasn't much help. I think I died 4 or 5 times just from Thorn Vines, never mind the rest of it. We eventually made it through, but one of the other players commented, "Well that was the hardest 38 merits I ever earned," and I couldn't help but feel that was aimed right at me. Not a great feeling.
  19. I generally run solo, on the lowest difficulty. At that setting, most of the game is pretty easy, but Elite Bosses are a challenge when they turn up. At any setting higher than that, the game starts to get overwhelming, and EBs become impossible. Task Forces, Strike Forces, and Incarnate Trials are generally too difficult for my tastes on any setting. If I try to solo them, I usually can't. If I'm teaming, I'm mostly scrambling to keep up and dying a lot.
  20. Yeah, whoops, my bad. At this point, I've got enough "seed money" from old alts that I don't need to worry about getting top dollar for anything. If something can be sold at a vendor, it gets sold at a vendor, just to get rid of it. Merits get turned into Boosters, Catalysts, Converters, or Unslotters, thrown on the market for cheap, and that earns me more Inf than I'll ever need.
  21. I'll remember that for next time. Thanks!
  22. It's true. I don't think there's any incentive the devs could offer that would make me want to lead a TF. Heck, I about had a panic attack yesterday when I was running Crimson's arc, and remembered that I was gonna have to recruit help to take out the Kronos Titan...
  23. I usually save them for Bosses. Unless it's one of those that expires after a certain amount of time, in which case I'll just throw it into my regular attack chain and enjoy it while it lasts.
