I'd give you more thumbs up, but the forum only lets me cut off one per post. Edit: What is that from? Looks too stylized to just be generic, but too... uhm... not granular... can't remember the word... the polygons look old school? Yeah, I'll go with that. What is that from?

New Regen Powerset - What could it look like?
Rudra replied to Troo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Okay... I can understand that sentiment. However, it is the theme of a set that sets the guidelines for what powers and effects it should include. Without a unifying theme, I'd never have been able to cobble together any of the sets I came up with. (Both meant in humor and in seriousness.) My suggestion for dealing with people who can't come up with ideas that utilize the same mechanics of a given set without sticking to the originating theme? Create a character that uses the set in a creative manner. A lot of my ideas come from different approaches I see or hear from others. A lot of times I disagree with the creativity people use with sets. Like using /BIo and calling it dark or whatever. However, I can disagree with people about anything and all it will simply mean is my form of creativity and their form of creativity is different. So I say keep the themes. They give the basis for designing the set. And let those that can create something new from that set do so with their characters and show the rest of us how to get out of this damn box. (Edit: As an aside, though it will never happen, I would love to see some of my humor ideas get implemented. Maybe the Savage Flock set or the Animated Sword set.... 😀) (Edit again: Wait... Summon Sword was meant in all seriousness... so... ... gimme my angry bird MM primary power set please! 😆) -
New Regen Powerset - What could it look like?

Drugs not necessary, though it does help according to history. Just have to find that spark of anger and feed it until it grows out of control. Feeling fear and using that to spark and fuel the rage is an effective way to reach that state. It just takes a fair amount of time to build up that much rage. So yeah, I can see how drugs would be helpful to get there faster. -

I don't know specific numbers, that would have to be resolved by those that know the background mechanics and balance better. As an auto-power though? Yeah, it would have to be low simply because all the auto-powers I can remember for defense are low. -

Some minor tweaks to the earlier proposed set: Berserker's Fury Tier 1: Bear-Shirt Warrior: Auto: +Def (Positional), +Res (All) Tier 2: Can't Stop Me: Toggle: +regen, +Res (Smash, Lethal, Psi) Tier 3: Seasoned Warrior: Auto: +Max HP Tier 4: Hardy Champion: Toggle: +Res (Knockback, Disorient, Sleep, Immobilize), +Res (Smash, Lethal, Fire, Cold) Tier 5: Second Wind: Click: Self heal, +Rec, +Rech Tier 6: You Can't Run: Auto: +Rech, +Spd Tier 7: Bound For Valhalla: Click: +Res (All), +Max HP Tier 8: Unbridled Rage: Toggle: +Dam, +Rech, PBAoE Fear, -Def Tier 9: AllFather's Chosen: Click: +Def (All), +Res (All), Self revive if defeated, END crash (avoidable by revive triggering during duration) How is that? Edit: Since being defeated disables all powers and their effects on the character, I didn't really need to stipulate how the crash can be avoided, but oh well. Edit again: The health crash can be added back in too, if desired. That would reduce the END crash to 50% crash instead of "Where did my END go?!". SInce the current view of raging barbarian is fatigue at the end, figured the END crash was sufficient. If you want historical where some berserkers just dropped dead from their wounds when they finally calmed down, the health crash makes sense to put in, but we should probably put a 10% health floor in rather than let players keel over dead. -

Trying to think of how to build a set along those lines without needing to introduce new mechanics, and am currently drawing a blank here. Throw me bone or something. Something I can figure into an actual set that doesn't make my poor sleep-deprived brain curl up in a ball and refuse to do anything. -

And now I'm stuck with a visual of the CP9 agent that used soap bubbles as a defense and weapon from the Enie's Lobby arc from One Piece with a bubble bath song running to it... Thanks! -
Except by turning taunt into a teleport to target, whether or not it still taunts, you take away the ability to bring targets to you. As you said, not every power set has a ranged attack. Examples: A) My scrapper is running with a blaster. My scrapper is playing impromptu tank. A mob ignores me and goes for the blaster. I taunt that target, and now I am at that target and the mobs I was trying to keep away from the blaster follow me to the blaster. B) My scrapper is looking at a room of death. There are multiple groups all within aggro radius of each other. My Savage Melee lacks any ranged attacks. I taunt the nearest mob, and am now suddenly in the room and everything I was trying to keep from aggroing has aggroed on me. And if I had wanted to just jump into the lot of them, I already had Savage Leap.

If you look at my tweak of that suggestion, it is in there. Already justified. My post immediately following my post with all the questions about it. Edit: I basically just renamed his/her Berserker Rage as Hela's Touch and Valkyrie's Wrath as Berserker Rage. -

I'd argue it causes a fear/terrorize effect instead. -
None of my comments were typed or meant in anger. If that is how they were taken, I apologize. Your own comments have taken "defensive" to a whole new plateau. If the only ones responding to a thread are negative, then by consensus it is not accepted. Even if you consider those who do not care, because they do not care. They are neither for nor against. If the thread stays open for a while and all you get are "no", then maybe it is time to accept it and move on to the next idea.

Again, it is not slow. Unless you have walk on. Even with no Sprint, travel power, or fake travel power like Ninja Run, the amount of time it takes me just using normal move even to another room to find mobs, is not slow. If you are waiting for the mobs to go to you as a melee, and you aren't already fighting something, then I can't help you. We already quickly close the distance. And has been pointed out, no less than 3 power sets instantly close the distance as you are asking for. In order for this to be a discussion, both sides must debate in good faith. You refuse to accept any argument given to you as being simply opposed to change, even when actual, honest to goodness reasons are given. You are arguing in bad faith.

Also, AS is fine. Leave it alone. It is the only attack my Stalkers have that can 1-shot everything short of a boss. No other attack comes close to matching AS's long-form damage when used from Hide. You can tell me I am building my characters wrong then, but my response to that will be I enjoy playing the way I am. Edit: And some bosses I can finish off with an attack or two after long-form AS. Which I can't do with any other attack as lead.

Where are you fighting that a 40 mph move is not fast enough to reach the next set of mobs?! The ranged attacks are for picking off targets that will not close, such as that pesky PC flier in PvP when you lack Flight, and for pissing off targets to convince them to close. It is not ideal, but it does help. While the devs are not maintaining a museum piece, they are maintaining the core of the game as best they can while they grow it. CoX is not a modern game. So there is no point comparing it to one. That's 5 more mobs that come to you than otherwise would have. When duo'ing with a squishy, that scrapper's single target Taunt can yank the mob that veers off and goes for the support off the support while not having to run it down and leave the other mobs (s)he was fighting alone. In a nut shell: Request denied.

Aww... not even the cookies? Come on, it at least has to give me cookies, yes? (Seriously, where did that come from? I'm not asking for the game to be easier.) Use of DR in PvP: Not an issue. You're fighting other players. No matter how built up the player characters are, there is a limit to their development. DR was put for PvP balance, right? To reign in some builds and improve others? I don't PvP, but from what I've read of it so far, that is what it looks like. Use of DR in PvE, even just as a selectable option: You have GMs and AVs in those trials and TFs/SFs, and you just cut out the buffers and debuffers ability to help against them. So when someone runs this option, you will either see them limit the numbers of said characters or leave them out. Thank you for the difficulty setting that leaves some of the players out. We already have increased difficulty settings on some TFs/SFs that are being proliferated to the everything else over time. And while I personally have no idea how people clear the Dr. Aeon SF on those difficulties, I can still see a route for it to feasibly happen. I don't with DR as explained. Now if the already being proliferated difficulties are for some reason not enough for some of you? Sure, come up with new options. That doesn't take a dump on a specific set of player types and possibly leave them out. DR as explained will not impede the brutes, tankers, scrappers, stalkers, or blasters. It will render the controllers, dominators, defenders, and corruptors almost useless. MMs, Arachnos soldiers, Arachnos widows, PBs, and WSs are a grey area that would need to be shaken out into yay or nay categories.

Some suggested tweaks: Tier 1: Resilience of the North: Auto: +Def, +regen Tier 2: Jarl's Favored: Toggle: +regen, +Res (Smash, Lethal, Psi) Tier 3: Seasoned Warrior: Auto: +Max HP Tier 4: Hardy Champion: Toggle: +Res (Knockback, Disorient, Sleep, Immobilize), +regen Tier 5: Second Wind: Click: Self heal, +Rec, +Rech Tier 6: AllFather's Gift: Auto: +Def (All), +Res (All) Tier 7: Freyja's Blessing: Click: +regen, +Max HP Tier 8: Hela's Touch: Toggle: PBAoE ToHit debuff, +Rech, +Dam, Self DoT - or - Tier 8: Berserker Rage: Click or Toggle: +Dam, +Rech, +Acc, -Def Tier 9: Doors of Valhalla: Click: +Def (All: Minor), +Res (All), +Rech, Self revive if defeated, -50% health crash (never to below 10% health), -50% END crash, being revived by power turns off power and prevents crashes. Just food for thought I guess. Wasn't sure how to fit your 10 powers into a 9 power set, but did my best.
