My saying I don't get it strictly applies to me. Hence "I don't get it". That other people like other things was never the issue to me. Now if others want to explain what it is that they get about it, I'm happy to be enlightened. Now then! Doing ToT'ing during Halloween fits. Kids go ToT'ing for Halloween. Doing ToT'ing year-round does not fit. The event becomes less special. You want to use the holiday costumes year round? That can be done without the need for year round ToT'ing. (Most people I see use the Carnival of Shadows Harlequin costume anyway, and you can make that in the costume creator.) Same with the Christmas event and the Valentine's event. Are you pushing for Mrs. Liberty to always be in her Christmas outfit and Atlas Park to always have snow? Are you saying you want the Rogue Isles and Paragon City to always be night like the Halloween event does for most of its duration? Are you saying you want to constantly get Valentine tips year round to deliver or mis-deliver? Having holiday events during the holiday gets people to do them. At least when the event starts. Ever notice how quickly interest in them tapers off? Trying to find people to do the holiday stuff after the 1st week is a struggle. At least for me. So if the event is year round? I'm wondering if I'll even be able to find a team for them during the holidays, let alone the rest of the year. Keep holiday events keyed to their appropriate holidays, please. (And yes, I know the zombie invasion used to be Halloween only and went year-round. It is one of the reasons I took to calling CoX on Live near the end of the game City of Invasions. Street sweeping when there were nearly constant invasions made the street sweep missions near impossible.) (Oh! How about eternal night snow fall with Halloween mobs asking you to deliver their love letters to Baby New Year as the Halloween mobs chew your face off? A ridiculous example, but that is how I feel about your suggestion of making all holiday-themed content year round.) The idea of random mobs popping out of doors? That sounds pretty interesting, if done the way it is in Atlas Park or Port Oakes. Some door opens and mobs appropriate to zone pile out, either to stand there as in Atlas Park or run to another door as in Port Oakes. Just running around to click doors to spawn zone appropriate enemies makes a lot less sense. They are already available in the zone and door mobs should be keyed to what is in that area anyway, so you would still need to go looking for the ones you want. If you catch some running out of a building? Have fun! Go nuts! No door clicking to get them, they just randomly appear out of assigned doors. -
This would be so nice! And if they can be selected with the existing base NPC emotes like the other NPCs, even better! I could have an actual demon fishing in my attempt at a lava flow instead of just some weird guy that I claim is a demon in disguise! And my hidden hell base could have actual demons populating it instead of mind controlled humans! I mean... uhm... yes, please. Please give us demon NPCs for our bases. Thanks. (P.S. Lava flow surfaces for the bases please. My lava just looks like bloody, muddy water with fire all over it....)

Then you also have high cold and smash defense. Regardless, the defense types as is make sense to me.

Which makes sense to me. Have a fire elemental or similar character? Makes sense to not be affected by fire/heat very often (high fire defense), and even when you are, you take low damage (high fire resist), but a water attack can make a mess of you (low cold/smash defense and low cold/smash resist).

Bank, university, and Red River icons are the only icons I saw move. I didn't see any badge markers on the map, but I also wasn't looking for it. I already had the safeguard explore, so I was only paying attention to primary reference points. Most notably, the bank so I could head off the villain. I wish I could give more useful data, but I've given everything. Reveal loaded a different map when I used it on the Founder's Falls safeguard as opposed to the map the instance loaded. It did that for a whole week. I manually loaded a patch to the maps and the rotation stopped. My games tend to have weird things happen. I'm pretty well known in Everlasting TFs for complaining about weird things happening. If the devs look into this and find something? Great, hope it is a quick fix. If they look into it and find nothing? Oh well, at least it is not happening any more. If they don't look into it? Oh well, at least it is not happening any more.

Even if you skip the tutorial, what is left of Galaxy City is mostly held by Arachnos trying to recover and study the Shivan meteors per the Hearts of Darkness arcs and the Shining Stars arcs. So yeah, either way, it makes more sense for Boomtown to be rebuilt and Faultline to be finished being rebuilt before Galaxy City even becomes a reconstruction concern.

Sure. Except on my map window until I downloaded and installed the new vidiotmaps patch, it was rotated. It was not a question of zooming in or out, or fog or no. The BANK was at the NORTH on the map in the window when I used Reveal and at the WEST on the map when I did not use it. I get it. You don't have that problem. Now that I have the maps from page 20 of the thread, I don't either. I should have taken a screenshot. I didn't. I screwed up on that. That still does not mean the devs should not check the Reveal power or the Safeguard or the game itself. Founder's Falls safeguard was pulling two different maps for the map window depending on whether I used Reveal or not at the time. It was annoying as hell watching the bank disappear from where it was marked on the map when I used Reveal and suddenly be somewhere else I knew it could not be. That needs to be reviewed. I'm not saying vidiotmaps has a problem. I'm asking for the devs to check the map links for Founder's Falls safeguard, particularly for the Reveal power.

You want less pets? Take less pets. There are actually petless MMs out there. Why? I don't have a clue. However, saying you want a pet to get stronger because you are not taking the other pets is like saying you want your <insert power set choice> abilities to get stronger because you are skipping other powers in the set. As someone who plays a lot of MMs, I'm against getting a stronger pet just because you skipped some of the pets. The gestalt idea is interesting, though I still think it should be a unique power to a new type of MM, but as presented, it still requires you to develop your pets. And, you lose those pets while the gestalt is active. You get a short duration super pet with a looooooooooong recharge. That works. Not a constantly available super pet. -
I don't know what to tell you then. Prior to installing the file on page 20 of the thread, the map was rotated in the wrong direction. Regardless, this post was about the game using 2 different maps in the map window depending on whether Reveal was used or not.

Yeah, I know, but he didn't get the badge when he soloed it. So, on the off chance that may be the glitch, I'm proposing he try it from the other side. Like I said, grasping at straws.

The vidiotmaps version I was using prior was the link that kept coming up in searches. I24 and beyond. The first page of the updated Vidiotmaps thread. The corrected map was on page 20 of 21 of that thread.

Uhm... the I24 and beyond one? I finally found an actual update buried in the vidiotmaps thread that corrected the map rotation (even though it has other weirdness going on), so I can't really say what version the map was. Sorry. And yes, I was able to replicate the problem for an entire week before I finally found a rotated vidiotmaps map for the safeguard. (I was not bothering with safeguards until then. Don't like them.) Though both the vidiotmaps map and the other map still don't show the instance accurately, putting the player in a small corner that is mostly marked not reachable as opposed to the bulk of the map that shows as accessible and is not.

I'm grasping at straws here, but maybe it is keyed to side? When I did the event, I smashed the Seers and helped the protesters. If you haven't done the protest side yet, try it and see if the badge comes up as a reward choice?

Check to see if that character already has the badge? My MM did the event solo and got the badge just fine.

The version I had. The map was not rotated to match the instance's actual layout. (On the new version, there is a fair amount of map that is marked as outside the instanced area that you run around in, and the side mission points are mismarked or missing, but that is not relevant to this post and should be posted on the vidiotmaps thread.) So as I ran around the Founder's Falls safeguard without Reveal, the map layout as it was uncovered matched the instance's layout. Then when I used Reveal, the map was rotated in the wrong way and did not accurately show either where my character was or the bank, mission exit, or PPD station. So as I said, the game should only be pulling one map for the instance, not two different ones depending on what power you use.

I don't follow. The map in the map window should not be different just because I use the Reveal power. I already know using the Reveal power only shows the map until you leave, so if you leave the mission without completing it for any reason and re-enter, the map is hidden by fog of war again. However, the map in the map window should still be the same regardless of whether I uncover it by fully exploring it or by using the Reveal power. The game should only be pulling up a single map file for the zone, whether correct version or not.

*looks through OP* *rechecks OP* *hopes just missed it and looks through OP again* ... What about ninjas?! Why does everyone overlook ninjas?! 😭 Anyway, not sure how I feel about this idea. It can work for bots... but I don't really see it making sense for the other pet types. Unless you're trying to make Legion from Castelvania, or a giant robot of any kind, merging MM pets into a gestalt seems a bit far-fetched. Making a new type of MM that has that power though? Depending on the pets gained, could very well be an interesting take on the MM AT. -
I thought you had "peaced out" and "kindly left the thread to be closed"? So... why are you still harping? This thread is dead. Your suggestion is not going to be implemented. *sigh* I'm not a lawyer. I don't work legal. Still pretty sure they do trials instead of trails though. (Sorry, cheap shot, but I found the word choice funny.) As someone who has had to oversee contractors, they counted against the unit TO&E. The unit budget tracked payments to them and allocated unit assigned funds to them. Kind of like actual employees in that regard. They were governed by a different set of rules and they could not be asked to work outside of their contract, but were otherwise treated as employees. The assigned pools of money were different, but both pools of money were still reported as unit personnel costs and tracked on the unit budget. Hence, my argument that contractor or regular employee, your suggestion will cause unnecessary problems for the Homecoming team. Now! Since you have kindly decided to close this thread... before you decided to continue it... and as pretty much every person posting on this thread except for you has said this is a bad idea and done what they could to show you why the OP is a bad idea, can this thread now finally be done?

Now, if you know a 3D modeler or a programmer that was willing to do the work without pay and donate it to Homecoming, then please let the devs know. THAT should not pose any problems.

How is this thread not dead yet? Anyway, I'm willing to bet what you file with the city, state, and Internal Affairs is to prove agency allocated funds are not being used to fund club activities, and your unit's budget document does not include club activities, purchases, or sales. So my statement still stands. Paying a server is no different than paying rent. It is not an employee, you are paying for access to something you need to operate. Paying someone to make new content however, is a different consideration. Now you have hired an employee regardless of long-term or short-term. Now the allowance for being a completely volunteer, unpaid team maintaining a pirate server with some degree of permission from the owning company is out the window. Now you are in effect a company pushing unlicensed, unowned, intellectual property. As a cop, you should understand what that means for the game. NCSoft tolerates Homecoming, but has not authorized it to function. Please, just let this thread die. If Homecoming ever becomes official, NCSoft signs off on us as being authorized as the devs are trying to do, THEN we can look at this suggestion.

I'm not sure how to flag this because it makes no sense. On the Founder's Falls safeguard, if you run around exploring, the map fills in and matches your position in the safeguard. The map window layout is the same as the safeguard actual map. However, if you use the Reveal power, it pulls up the outdated Vidiotmaps map of the Founder's Falls safeguard. Why would the game have one map for the map window if you just play through and a different map if you use a specific power to show you the whole map on the map window? I know I need to find an updated Vidiotmaps, but if the Vidiotmaps addon is overriding the map window, then... shouldn't it always show the Vidiotmaps map even if I don't use Reveal?
