Stuck at "Checking if the site connection is secure"
roleki replied to biostem's topic in Help & Support
LMAO, that is EXACTLY how we became an MSP in the first place. We were a software company that served a VERY specific industry, and had our stuff locked-in sufficient enough that nothing ever went wrong, so they started sending us out on software support calls to evaluate client environments and draw up remediation plans, which led to us contracting out to implement those remediation plans. Yadda yadda yadda, within 24 months the three IT guys were responsible for 80% of the revenue in a 25-person company. And within 5 years, we were sold off to a bunch of hillbillies who raised capital by cornering the market in podunk towns, then using that cash to buy the MSP in the next biggest town, and so on until they got to us. They ran the place like it was Spacely Sprockets and we were all Jetson; that's the job that I was going to give two weeks notice to, but on the night before that meeting I found out CoH was back so I just quit outright instead. Sorry for hijacking this fancy Help thread, but obviously, I still need help. -

Aw, nah. I mean, it used to suck quite a bit, but I'm in higher ed now, which is the exact opposite of all that crap. -

He was one of those guys who bought a copy of Compute! magazine once and that put him on par with any IT guy. Nice enough guy, but brimming with unwarranted confidence in many subjects. Little side story... so I get down there and it's the Friday before Halloween weekend, so everyone in the office is in Office Halloween costumes, like, one cluster was dressed up like all the named characters from Wizard of Oz. Everyone was in costume, even the shipping dock people, everyone. I go into a meeting room with the CFO who caused the incident (and blamed his getting phished on the SonicWall I sold them) and the owner of the company, who I had never met to that point, all I knew is he was from Indiana and was the brother of the guy who owned OUR company. So the owner guy is wearing a polyester shirt that's open at the chest with thick gold chains, bigass gold rings on every finger, polyester pants, snakeskin boots and yellowed sunglasses IN the meeting room where I am telling him what I need to do to literally save his business that weekend. I finish up my spiel, and we all stand up. He crosses the room, swings his arm towards me and kind of awkwardly pats the side of my face/head. In a thick Goomba accent, he says "This guy! I like this guy! You need anything when you're down here, and I mean ANYTHING, you tell Mike, and Mike gets it done." HE was Mike. I start laughing and I say, what is that, is that Goodfellas? Suddenly his face goes dead still "What the fuck are you talking about, fucking Goodfellas?" And he kind of shakes his head at me and stalks out. Apparently, he wasn't dressed as a gangster for Halloween, that's just the way Mike (an expatriate Hoosier living in Texas) goes around every day of his life. -

Lmao, no, it was MSP work; I flew down Thursday night, got to work Friday AM, didnt stop until 2 hours before my plane left Sunday night. Not only restored the entire business, also unboxed, configured and installed a new VoiP system we were scheduled to install the next month anyway. Missed Halloween with my kids, ate vending machine food the whole time, my connecting flight was canceled so I wound up staying in Atlanta without any luggage, got back Monday night. My reward: if you get your ticket queue cleaned, you can stay home Tuesday. Unless your name is on the letterhead, MSP work is fucking awful. It's great experience (I guarantee I've unfucked more domains than most domain admins have laid eyes on in their lifetime) but it's soul-crushing work that will leave every orifice prolapsed if you don't find your way out. -

Not laughing because of the situation, laughing because this happened to one of my clients in TX, the CFO opened a 'resume' and all of the sudden everything was encrypted. Had to fly down there with 11TB of cold storage spares and diff it out. Never getting those 72 hours back. -
Not a problem; I should say, though, that while the build did/does perfectly fine in Fire farms, I usually just do S/L farms with it on account the P4 aggro changes really expose the ranged def weakness, and ranged Fire attacks suck more than ranged S/L attacks.
-
I can't export out of Mids at the moment, but, give this a look. Melee Def is just a smidge over 45, and S/L/Fire resistances are all at 90% - this took some +5ing here and there, but it's not egregious. Only change I am thinking of making involves dropping a couple Power Transfer procs in place of Synapse and one or two PerfShitfs; the way aggro works now, I end up sometimes taking heavy ranged damage that necessitates actual HEALING on occasion. Since my endurance bar never moves, I probably could get away with a few less PerfShifts. ELTHERM - Brute SJvsSoS (Radiation Melee).mxd

How many/which toggles are you running? I've no doubt that DP/Poison is a bit of a hog, but it shouldn't be giving you the trouble you're describing.

I think the lot of you should go back to law school. https://youtu.be/KAmpDZeeoGw

I went with the Broot option for my Axe/Shield, figuring (correctly) that Against All Odds, Fury, and an insp macro would keep me at/close to the damage cap and help offset the Lethal damage tax. Onliest thing is, it's more... steady solo than on teams, because AAO wants dudes crowding around you for fuel; against AVs and hard targets, you can feel kind of like you're fighting uphill. All in all, still a fun character... I've always liked the Battle Axe animations, and the idea of 'arresting' people with a move called "Beheader."

Are Freakshow good annoying or just annoying annoying?
roleki replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
I wonder if anyone has made an AE farm of nothing BUT Freakshow that self-rez. That would be a hoot. -
I'm not anywhere I can access files/mids, but, a couple things... I have every flavor of Fire/FF and FF/Fire, and while I vastly prefer the Controller version, the Corr/Def are no slouches, themselves. In terms of slotting Force Field in general... Force Bolt, you can get by with a single Accuracy enhancement, no need to devote more resources than that... unless you're looking to amp up the KB. It doesn't do a ton of damage even when enhanced, the recharge is already very fast, it doesn't cost much endurance, and it is not ideal for procs. Deflection and Insulation Shields are fine 2-slotted, I usually 3-slot them but I could get the same numbers if I just +5 the two enhancements in each power. Dispersion Bubble is kind of the same as Deflection/Insulation shield in that, only a couple enhancements are really needed. I usually put 4 slots to it, 3x of a mix of Defense/Endurance, and a LotG. Repulsion Field, I usually do 2x EndRedux and a KB:KD; please note that the KB:KD cancels out the Force Bubble effect that was baked into Repulsion Field for P5. Force Bomb, I usually slot 6-wide, with Acc/Dam/End and the proc from Positron's Blast, then Annihilation A/D/R & -Res proc, an FF+Rech, and whatever damage proc is handy. Damping Bubble, so far I've thrown it 3 slots to max out the DDR and get a little recharge. I do not truck in Detention Field, but I suppose if I did it would need Recharge (it's already base 1.4 acc) Now, on a Controller, the path to Power Boost runs through Energy Torrent, so I slot that exactly as I do Force Bomb, and put another FF+Rech in Bonfire. I've found 3x FF+Rech to be the magic number for keeping Recharge boosted through each mob. On Defenders and Corruptors, you'll want Power Mastery or Soul Mastery for the Power Build Up/Power Boost, since it basically 'doubles' the strength of your shields. It does nothing for Damping Bubble, unfortunately.

In my experience, Ice Mistral's Torment in Hot Feet has been rather transformative; HF is basically just another damage aura, this one with some slow attached. But if you enhance damage AND slow, now you've got something. Doesn't hurt that the set bonuses are really decent, either.

Wentworth's: Is it just me, or do stupidly high bids slow down the process?
roleki replied to RikOz's topic in The Market
Just buy a recipe and craft it, fairly quick and likely a lot cheaper. Failing that, does one kind of Travel Mode enhancement convert to another type? Buy a teleport or some crap and convert it to a Flight. What I am getting at is, sometimes a straight buy is less economical than being crafty. -
I'd wondered about that; when I ran it on Test it was vs +3 ToT mobs, and they weren't blowing away. I haven't tested much on Live because I got 100 alts that each need to kill 25 EBs.

Just want to say, I like this new direction the forums are taking.

Someone will come along and post a much more eloquent and informed response, but, in my opinion the Scrapper ATOs are what separate them from the other melee classes The Superior Critical Strikes proc slotted in your second-hardest hitting power quasi-virtually guarantees a proc hit that gives your next attack a 50% chance to crit. With a proper attack chain, the Scrapper can basically do sustained burst damage; they're a little squishy for a melee type, but, in this case the best defense is a good offense. ETA: What spaghetti said.

Are you sure you're @Snarky and not just hangry?

Since Rebirth is apparently under maintenance, this would be a great opportunity to log into Homecoming, roll a Illusion Dominator, and go ToTing with some of the finer denizens of HC.
-
Chance for KB n Force Bomb is 100%; chance for Stun is now 10%, down from 40. I've always used 1 damage proc, 1 -Res proc, the FF+Rech, and the KB:KD enhancement in Repulsion/Force Bomb, along with an Acc/Dam/End and an Acc/Dam/Rech. Never lets me down.

Ugh, never been a fan of that one, which is hollow enough rhetoric if left to stand on its own, but even moreso if the person using it goes on to state THEIR view of things.... based on assumptions they have made. As long as we're here, another one I hate is "It is what it is." It's just empty calories, noise to make noise. Though, it would be mildly funny as a placeholder amongst taxonomists.

Heh, I appreciated the paraphrasing. I'll never know what it's like to be a misunderstood genius, but I'll accept any effort towards my not being a misunderstood idiot.
