  1. FWIW I somewhat agree. As with all the Origin pools (Sorcery, Force of Will, etc), Experimentation was originally designed by Paragon, we are just finishing them off and implementing them. Older travel pools may get looked at in the future, but that's not planned right now. Also Speed of Sound doesn't have Super Speed's stealth component, so there is a distinction there.
  2. FWIW I agree the original travel pools (and perhaps some other power pools) have fallen behind. It's something I do want to investigate at some point, but it's not in our plans for the immediate future. Perhaps a thread in the suggestions forum with your ideas on how to bring these pools up to par would be warranted 🙂
  3. It is actually the "hasn't been written yet" option 🙂 Meaning: If we had it already, it would be active. It's just not a huge priority right now as the server is still fairly young. It will happen eventually though!
  4. There will actually be four. Two will not have cheats. FAQ has been updated to cover this:
  5. Please see the first question here.
  6. You're responsible for continually monitoring server load (via the website or Discord) if you wish to multibox. Login screen won't help you with that as it is only representative of load at the time you log in.
  7. I should be able to make this one! Wait, hang on... I should be able to make this one!
  8. Not right now, but hopefully soon. Keep an eye on the announcements!
  9. All jokes aside, please test this fix and let us know how it performs!
  10. @EverStryke @SHOCKnAWE @Myrmidon @Doc_Scorpion Take a look!
  11. Sorry, but I need to respond with a bit of a rant here. Posts like the ones recently made in this thread only serve to demoralise the individuals giving up their free time for your enjoyment. Calling for a rollback is an extreme overreaction. This was a huge update with a large amount of necessary back-end changes. Aside from this one problem it's had a very positive impact on the game in a wide variety of areas - especially for those that were still stuck on Safe Mode! Rollbacks only happen within minutes or hours of an update going out if a game-breaking critical issue is found. You don't jump right to the extreme reaction for stuff like this because rollbacks are not quick, and they are not easy. This small issue is not more important than all the positives from this update, nor does it warrant the resources required to actually perform a rollback successfully and safely. And yes, this is a small issue - it's a minor inconvenience to a small number of sets. It is not intolerable. It's not causing a mass exodus. These are, quite honestly, ridiculous claims. I say this as someone who plays the game a lot, and has several characters impacted by this bug. I'd also like to point out that this issue would have likely been caught on the test server if we had more players participating there and submitting bug reports (there's a reason I wrote this post and put this FAQ together - it couldn't be easier to join in with testing now!). Bugs happen in live games, and you need to just accept that. Worse issues have persisted for longer than this in games that people pay money for. This, however, is a collaborative community effort. You are not a customer. You need to set your expectations accordingly, and pitch in where you can if you want the game to be as good as it can be.
  12. Hello everyone! Over the past year we’ve had many, many players asking how they can help Homecoming. There are answers out there, but they tend to be a bit scattered and outdated, so we thought it might be best to put together a comprehensive post covering all the ways you’re able to help. Donations The most obvious method is also the one we get the most questions about, so here’s a few quick answers: Homecoming holds a donation window on the last Saturday of each month at around 13:00 Eastern At the beginning of each donation window we post a breakdown of our costs and expenses for the month up in the Finances & Donations forum We only take the exact amount we need to cover our expenses for the next month, plus any incidental costs and any amount required to refill our $1,250 contingency fund Once we’ve raised the necessary amount, the donation window closes, and you’ll need to wait until the next one if you wish to contribute The Finances & Donations FAQ has more information on (you guessed it!) finances and donations We understand that missing the donation window can be frustrating, which is one of the main reasons we put this post together - there are other ways to contribute that are just as valuable as donations. Development Head on over to our Developer Application Form if you're interested in joining the development team. Volunteering as a Game Master We couldn’t run Homecoming without our fantastic team of volunteer Game Masters. They put in countless hours every week responding to support tickets, helping players and generally keeping the peace. It’s hard - and sometimes thankless - work, but it is necessary in order to keep the game running smoothly. We’re always on the lookout for new GMs, so if you’re interested please fill out our new GM Application Form and we’ll get back to you if you’re a suitable candidate! (Note: We keep applications on file until we need more GMs - we'll be in touch when we need you!) While we want everyone who's interested in volunteering to apply, we’re in real need of volunteers that tick any of the following boxes: Players that can speak at least one language on top of being fluent in English (specifically we’re looking for French, Spanish and German) Mac OS and Linux experts Players that are available outside of peak US hours Players with in-depth knowledge of RP, Base Building or Architect Entertainment Testing We’re a small volunteer development team and have no internal QA resources - as such, we rely heavily on bug reports and testing from our players to ensure updates are released as smoothly as possible. If you’re willing to put a few hours here and there into testing upcoming patches, please read the Homecoming Beta FAQ to get started! Discord Nitro If you have a Discord Nitro subscription, please consider using your boost on our Discord! It allows us to consider to maintain several cool benefits for our server. By boosting the server you'll get a nifty pink username and access to an entirely pointless Pocket D VIP Club channel on Discord. Generally Being Cool Last but not least, something for everyone: Generally Being Cool. What do we mean by this? Well, it’s pretty simple: Be kind to your fellow players. Answer questions where you can. Follow the Code of Conduct and encourage others to do so too. Teach newcomers the ropes. Don’t be uncool. Doing these things not only helps everyone enjoy the game more, but also lessens the load on our volunteer team - which means they too can spend more time enjoying the game! That’s all for today. Thank you again for all your continued support - we couldn’t do this without you. - The Homecoming Team
  13. Hello and thank you for your interest in helping us test the future of City of Heroes: Homecoming! In this thread you'll find answers to common questions and information to help you get started on our test shards. How do I install the test shards? You should download and install the new Homecoming Launcher. Note that this must be installed to a new directory, not the one that contains your Tequila install. If you want to use Tequila / Island Rum instead, check out the instructions in this thread. Test shards? There's more than one? Yes, there's four shards and two different clients. Beta Shards: Brainstorm and Transfer Test Used for early, experimental testing. Sometimes there will be some cheats and shortcuts enabled to help with testing, but they will occasionally be disabled or removed if whatever we're testing requires it. Patch notes will be posted in the Beta Patch Notes forum. Preelease (aka Staging) Shards: Shadow and Transfer Test Used for final testing of patches before they are published to the live shards. This environment is set up to be as close to the live environment as possible - which means no cheats and no shortcuts. Patch notes will be posted in the Staging Patch Notes forum. Each of these shards will come up and down as needed during testing. At least one Beta shard should be online most of the time, whereas the availability of the Staging shards will be more limited. The Transfer Test shards should only be used for testing character transfers and other cross-shard interactions. Can I copy characters to the test shards? You can! Visit the Beta Account Center Hit 'Copy Character' under 'Character Copy Requests' Only one character copy request can be queued in every 30 minutes. During busy periods it may take several hours for your copy to reach the front of the queue. You can check your position in the queue in the Beta Account Center. Copies are only available to Brainstorm (Beta) and Shadow (Staging). Once copied, you can then transfer from Brainstorm or Shadow to the Transfer Test shards if you wish. I found a bug! Where should I post it? Please post it in the Homecoming Beta Bug reports forum. I have feedback! Where should I post it? If it's general feedback, please post it in the Homecoming Beta forum. If it's for a specific new feature, please post it in the focused feedback thread for that feature (these can be found in the Homecoming Beta forum when new features are undergoing testing). Where can I find the patch notes? Visit the Beta Patch Notes forum and the Staging Patch Notes forum. Can I subscribe to be notified of new test shard patches? You sure can! Visit the Beta Patch Notes forum or the Staging Patch Notes forum click 'Follow' at the top right. What's this about cheats on the beta server? Sometimes cheats and shortcuts will be enabled on the beta server (Brainstorm) to help expedite testing. You can find them in the Quickchat menu: Note that the cheats will not always be available. If they aren't available, it'll be for a reason, so please do not post asking for them to return. They'll be back when they need to be back 🙂 Cheats will never be enabled on the prerelease server (Shadow). Will these shards ever be wiped? We will occasionally wipe these shards for testing purposes. Please do not assume anything (characters, AE missions, supergroups, etc) on these shards is permanent. Why are there four test shards? Isn't that excessive? It's necessary that each stage of testing involves at least two shards so cross-shard functionality (such as global chat and character transfers) can be tested effectively. The additional resources required to host these extra shards is minimal thanks to a large amount of back-end optimisation, essentially allowing multiple shards to share most of their resources. Because of these improvements all of our testing infrastructure is hosted on a single box.
  14. I feel I need to chip in here and drop a quote from our open letter to the community that was posted back in May last year. A distant memory now, but it still holds: To break that down: Our prime directive is to keep the servers online and available to everyone. Every single decision we’ve made has been in support of that goal. We aren't out to get anyone or one-up other servers. We're here to achieve the goal we shared with the community nearly a year ago. Nothing more, nothing less. I know many motives have been attached to our actions over the past 10 months, but there's no need to speculate. It's right there in black and white (or blue and white, I suppose), and has been since May.
  15. It's very time consuming to produce unfortunately and we've got a lot on our plate right now. I know Cipher does want to do another one but it might not be for a while.
  16. No. At some point perhaps - we'd need something to put there (unless you had something in mind already?).
  17. Don’t blame Cipher, this was my fault! Unfortunately by default it’s displayed to everyone, not just new accounts. You can click next or dismiss and it’ll go away 🙂
  18. Hero Forge is great! We've got a bunch of their figures for our DnD campaign. Look at the stretch goals too:
  19. This is a good point - I don't see this as a problem. We will only actually action an instance of multiboxing in these zones if you are causing problems (ie: filling a space that other people could use). If you're in a raid of 20 people and you bring a second account to help, you aren't actually causing any harm. So essentially: Don't worry about multiboxing if the zone isn't full - and obviously, if the zone fills up, you must remove your extra accounts. We'll need to figure out a good way to update the wording to reflect this at a later date.
