I totally get it! It's so hard to get a woody texture if everything's shiny. I feel the same way about the shadows on the pencil skirts. I'm so glad @biostem could help you out. Your character looks good.

I love how he's really skinny. The jester's mask is a nice touch! He could easily be an alien or an eldritch demon. Perhaps he's Sonata's mentor? Or one of the last members of an alien species? That's the great thing about CoV! The possibilities for a backstory are practically endless!

Cool! I don't really know what your character looks like, but I kinda imagined Lara Croft, but in the Army. Here's a casual look that she might wear to the supermarket! What's the logo for the Malta Operatives? I'm not sure, so I went for a glowing green fingerprint. To quote the official City of Heroes website: "Rarely seen, those who know of them detect their fingerprints staining the headlines with frightening regularity. Young heroes may never encounter these forces directly, but paranoid government analysts and conspiracy experts believe the Malta Group’s machinations are ubiquitous." Oooh, everyone has such nice costumes! I'd love for you guys to meet one of mine: Meet Plague of Frogs (AKA Polly Wog) Here she is crouching. Plague of Frogs is a Sonic/Poison Corruptor. She's also part of my "Let's Try to Make the 10 Plagues in COH" Project. Currently, she is only one frog - but we're working on it! Next to Kalinda for scale.
