  1. Was today's run before or after the patch that fixed the known bugs in the Nemesis wedding event?
  2. Yeah, I'm done attempting to have a rational discussion with someone that keeps resorting to name calling and argument by assertion (in face of facts to the contrary).
  3. Speaking from experience, the latter statement is absolutely not true. Siege Perilous (a hardcore shard when compared to than the main shards) on UO was always a ghost town, with a population a miniscule fraction of that of even the smallest main shard. As has been repeatedly pointed out, it's not popular here on CoX either - hard mode players absolutely represent a sub microscopic fraction of the user base. If hardmode is so popular, then it should be easy for you and other proponents of this idea to demonstrate it in practice. Build an SG, a coalition of SGs, that play exclusively hardmode. Rather than continuing to (demonstrably falsely) assert that it's universally popular - prove us wrong.
  4. We don't treat "new ideas" like this. We treat "[censored] awful ideas" like this. Don't know, and don't care. WoW is not CoX. CoX is not WoW. Two very different games with two very different game design philosophies and two very different user bases. And that's setting aside that "popular to watch" is almost certainly not equivalent to "popular to play".
  5. Military promotions are accompanied by increased authority (significantly increased at certain steps). People also treat you differently, I was taken much more seriously as a PO2(E5) than I was as a PO3(E4). They may not grant game effects, but real life isn't a game. Sounds like civilian promotions are pretty much like leveling in game. Hopefully you get the promotion because you've gained and demonstrated experience and knowledge while performing your job. Or, maybe, you were just a door sitter in a fire farm and don't even know how to leave Atlas Park. Nobody is trying to "teach" anyone anything. We're simply having a discussion, and if you no longer wish to participate you can simply stop reading and replying to the thread. It may or may not carry on without you.
  6. Unless the City Council says otherwise, I'd say we're good to go. I can't imagine any reason we wouldn't be, but we're not privy to the terms of the license. I'd say a streaming option for panels and such would be a very good idea. Teleconferencing isn't a bad idea, it's just that the tech and the doing is a lot more complicated... especially since we'll almost certainly be working with people (viewers/participants) who are going to have a wide variety of expectations. Best to manage those expectations right out of the gate. The biggest headache is going to be staffing and organization. And I am emphatically Not It in any significant capacity beyond forum discussions. Just too much on my plate.
  7. I was once told by my Div O that I couldn't actually ignore junior officers even if they weren't in my chain of command and actually were total idiots. I had to at least pretend to care.
  8. There's a non trivial amount of work involved, especially if new animations are required. The biggest headache is balancing them, ensuring they're not useless, but also ensuring they aren't OP.
  9. Yep. The entire military rank system is basically built around the idea of levels - much more is expected of PO2 (E5) than a PO3 (E4) or SN (E3). Levels are not an illusion. IRL, they're not always so clearly and neatly as delineated as they are in game... But it's foolish to claim they're an illusion.
  10. *Almost* this. Put an accuracy SO first (higher chance of hitting means less chance of wasting end), then a endurance reduction SO. And slot Stamina as soon as reasonably possible. A less obvious way to reduce endurance problems is to reduce the amount of work you have to do - if you can two-shot a mob, you've saved end over requiring three shots. Some people complain that you get less XP per mob that way, but you also spend less end and less time resting to restore your end. This is particularly important for Brutes because the more combat you can fit within your end and HP limits, the more you'll get out of your Fury bonus.
  11. No, we don't need them to be more useful than IOs. We just need them to be a viable alternative to IOs. And given their current costs and the speed of leveling... The problem with SOs is as much economics as anything functional. I've repeatedly seen people being urged to use IOs not because they're functionally better* but because they're cheaper. And the same reason (expense) is sometimes given for not enhancing at all until you're in your twenties and thirties or even waiting until you respec into an endgame build. * Other than not expiring, they're functionally worse until you're in your 20's.
  12. It wouldn't because it wouldn't outweigh the 1,234,917,547,832 other reasons that people dislike redside. (Some of which @tidge alluded to and which we need not further belabor as the details are irrelevant.)
  13. Which also earns you badges...
  14. Reminds me of a discussion we'd sometimes have when I was in the Navy... Over the type of captain you'd want to go to sea with and the type of captain you'd want to go to war with. (The canonical example of the latter was a certain CO known throughout the Fleet as the "Terrible T". One mean SOB who treated the crew like shit and ran them right to the ragged edge... But who was also well known for his technical and tactical acumen.) So while Blue Steel isn't exactly the nicest guy around... He's also the kind of guy that sometimes you want to have around because sometimes there's just no other way. The practical dilemma is how to keep him bottled up when you don't need him. The moral dilemma is whether it's acceptable to keep him around at all. My heroes are mostly... just heroes. They have no particular reason to be heroes other than a vague sense of that's what they're supposed to be. There's not a lot of deep thought involved because in the main I don't have a lot of headcanon as to their morals and motivations. (Except the Doc himself, who loathes the Rikti with a blinding passion, and there's some backstory there.)
  15. Yeah, I'm discovering the trollers and fenders have a pretty easy time of it if they're 20ish+ and have decent heals/buffs on hand. (MM's thinking like fenders/treating the audience as pets also do well.) 90% of keeping completion times down solo is (IMO) turning down the mish difficulty and keeping as much of the audience as possible alive through the first round of combat. EA with it's ranged group heals and buffs is a real standout in that respect.
  16. Norton does not like programs that aren't used by a large number of people... I've had it false positive on a variety of niche stuff over the years. But it's a long time since it pinged a false positive on COH/H for me.
  17. Looking at https://modthesims.info/ts2/ (my source of mods back in the day) it looks like the Sims2 modding scene is alive and well. Maybe not as big as it was back in it's heyday, but it's never really died completely.
  18. You don't even have to do anything but click Posi and haul tail and hang out by the door... Manti and Pschye can clear the mish on their own without any player intervention. It's boring as heck and takes 15-20 mins, but it can be done. Also, by setting the wrong mish on a team this morning, discovered that a team exemped down to lvl 11 can still complete this mish pretty easily. @Cobalt Arachne You really nailed this one but good. Bravo Zulu.
  19. If you use the "stay" command, then there is a leash that prevents them from moving more than (IIRC) 20 feet from that spot. I regularly use goto/stay to reposition my bots. Not quite what you're asking for, but very useful for pets with ranged attacks.
  20. Things I've learned after a number of solo runs with my kinda ok/average toons of various archetypes and levels and my own kinda ok/average self at the keyboard: - Let Manti and Psyche tank for you. - Completion time seems to hover around 15mins no matter what I do. I've had a couple of anomalously short runs with EA defenders (ranged group heals and buffs), but that seems to be luck of the dice as much as any contribution I made. - Being able to pick off non AVs doesn't seem to help much WRT time. - Let Manti and Psyche tank for you.
  21. Keeping your pets, your key (practically only) source of offensive firepower, alive is the core skill for the Mastermind. That's why all MM secondaries are defensive and/or healing powersets in the first place. And it's much less a matter of which set than it is learning how to use your chosen set. Knowing when to summon (and upgrade) your pets is a skill all Masterminds must master. You don't necessarily need them all out all the time. (I often skip calling out my T3's when playing on teams. That allows me to concentrate on keeping my T2's and T3 alive and in the fight.)
  22. If you were running the hero version, that sounds like a known bug. Otherwise, drop a bug report in the bugs forum.
  23. Just ran it once, looks like I need to plan lots of AFK time for my squishies. (It's easy to get a team now, that's gonna tail off after a week or so at most.)
