And give up his spot under the Brickstown rail station? He had to suck a lot of hobos dry to secure a place there.

So... you want to show people how to find your V-spot. You know this isn't Grindr, right?

Oh. Expletives.

Going down the list, in no specific order: AoEs (everything dies too fast) Single-target attacks (everything dies too slow) Immobilizations (messes up herding) Holds (messes up herding) Stuns (messes up AoEs) Confuses (STOP STEALING MUH EX PEAS!) Buffs (take your stinking graphics off of me, you damned dirty ape) Debuffs (i can't see anything and it's your fault) Travel powers (you need to slow down and play at my pace) Pets (can't you keep them from hitting my targets?) Not having Stealth (you expect me to fight all the way to the end?) Stealth (you're supposed to fight all the way to the end) Not having Hasten (you suck) Having Hasten (you suck) Not having Taunt (it's your job to make sure my HP bar never moves, not mine) Having Taunt (stop wasting time on a power that doesn't do anything) Defenders/corruptors/controllers without heals (shut up and heal, bitch) Defenders/corruptors/controllers focused on healing (ugh, you're so useless) Armor T9 powers (you're not supposed to not need me to heal you constantly) Damage in general (you're not supposed to not need me to carry you) Incarnates (everything's too easy and unslotting my Incarnates puts the burden of fixing that on me) IO sets (your good build is making my incomplete build look bad) Procs (not fair) Inspirations (you're a cheating cheater who cheats) Powers that teleport teammates (how dare you) Powers that teleport enemies (that's not where I wanted them) Powers with loud effects (my sound was turned up to 11 and now i can't hear. your fault) Powers with bright graphics (i'm going to have to play in Braille now, thanks) And any power or play style that they personally dislike (why are you doing that? it's wrong. WRONG) Fun Police out here eyeing the game like it's George Floyd and they got itchy knees.

Hi, @Luminara here. You may remember me from such posts as "How to get around with nothing but Hurdle", "There's only one badge in the game you can't reach without a travel power", and "Eating your teammates for fun and profit". Oh. Strike that last one. Just ignore it. Anyway, yes, you can play the entire game without any travel powers, and that includes temp travel powers. Back on the original servers, almost all of my characters had only Hurdle for movement. Prior to HC's addition of Infiltration to the Concealment pool, I was still building characters without travel powers. My Staff/Willpower brute's movement speed was almost 65 mph. No Athletic Run, no fly packs, nothing but Hurdle and +Movement Speed bonuses from IO sets. Several of my current characters use Athletic Run/Hurdle/Combat Jumping simply because they felt fast enough. I do recommend taking Combat Jumping, +Movement Speed bonuses from IO sets, and the +Jump and +Run base buffs. None of them are necessary, but they're very appreciable additions to movement speed. With all of the bells and whistles, and proper slotting, you can usually get up to ~72-75 mph Run and Jump Speeds. That's easily fast enough for solo play, and usually fast enough for team play (there's always someone who needs to go AFK, or level up, or go shopping, or stop to have an argument in chat, or finish clearing the mission that no-one else wanted to stay in to clear, or whatever). Know your way around zones. Know your zone connections. Know when to use an Ouroboros portal or LRTP. And practice thing like wall sliding (Combat Jumping reduces friction, so just pressing against a slightly angled wall, like a War Wall, will rocket you up), window ledge hopping, things like that. Run/Jump smart, not hard.

In a communist society, a vampire could go anywhere without restriction, because all property is collectively owned. Would work in some hippie communes, too.

Enough to sit around naked all day, and when someone complains, buy the grocery store and tell them to leave.

Kudos to all of the 0 people who've provided screenshots and combat logs showing the near universal hatred for KB. Seeing the hard evidence of 0 instances of people being kicked from teams, ostracized for using specific power sets, and disparaged in chat channels has really driven home the attitudes formed by the majority of players over the 14 years the game's been active and the hundreds of millions of teams formed.

Back in... I don't know, 2008(?), 2009(?), the script which tells enemies what to do in combat was modified, to add certain circumstances dictating when to flee. Debuffs, extremely rapid HP loss, X number of the spawn being defeated, failure to hit X number of times, combat has continued for X number of seconds, things like that. The more triggers, the greater the likelihood of running away.

Humble request: please improve Ice Blast for Sentinels
Luminara replied to taigakirdape's topic in Sentinel
It also screws up the streak breaker. The Sleep being auto-hit causes the streak breaker to reset its check. You can miss on the previous attack, use Chilling Ray, and only the auto-hit will be checked, so the damage portion can miss... And then the next attack can miss, too, because the streak breaker sees the previous auto-hit and doesn't kick in. My Ice/Willpower sentinel was my favorite character prior to the auto-hit Sleep bullshit that fucked up Chilling Ray. Now it's just a frustration. -
I was born too late to see the first moon landing, and by the time I was old enough to watch television, the Apollo program was over. The Space Shuttle program, though, excited my interest in space, and I read everything I could about it. I grew up idolizing astronauts. They were the bravest, most dedicated human beings imaginable. They were willing to risk their lives in every way to advance all of humanity by going into space and doing things that the rest of us only imagined. Jim Lovell epitomized that heroism. He embodied the role of hero, for me, in a way no-one else could. He didn't walk on the moon, but he did pave the way for others to do so, and he did it selflessly, without grandstanding or self-promotion. To him, it was a job. And someone who can treat something that extraordinary as just a job... what is that, if not a hero? I am bereft over his death, but I'm grateful to live in a world which had his shining example of courage, intelligence and perseverance. Goodbye, Captain Lovell, and thank you.

Worst arcs that assume your character is an idiot?
Luminara replied to Zhym's topic in General Discussion
Janet Kellum's On the Run. She goes right off the goddamn tracks with a wild assumption at the end of the fifth mission, without even any evidence of what she alleges happened. Pulls a theory right out of her ass and runs with it, and your character has to be the dumbest person in existence to follow her instructions and never once stop to point out that she jumped to a conclusion without even seeing any evidence. If Kellum were a Malta agent or a Nemesis Automaton, it would make sense in the larger narrative. But she isn't. She's just stupid. And you're stupid for listening to her. -
What is the coolest enemy in the game?

We'll do that next week. Wear something absorbent so I don't have to clean up a big mess, though. -

Give knock powers a chance to detoggle debuffs
Luminara replied to Uun's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It is if you want the debuff off of you. Also, with the wide availability of KB/KD/KU, this would be a cheap and cheesy tactic for player-controlled nerfing of things that are supposed to present some minimal degree of challenge. Debuffing foes are supposed to be a threat, not a reason for every character to take Air Superiority. -
When I said that you're ignorant, that was me being agreeable. Ignorance is lack of knowledge. You refuse to read power descriptions, you refuse to use City of Data, you refuse to use Mids', you refuse to do simple math, you categorically avoid educating yourself. That is ignorance. Willful ignorance, a deliberate choice not to know things. And in light of all of the things I could say, you'll note that this is still me being agreeable.

Yeah, no, that doesn't address the problems KM has. It's not even a smooch on the booboo, much less a band-aid. Ultimo didn't stumble onto a brilliant out-of-the-box solution, he tripped over his own ignorance. Again. The problem with KM isn't the animation times, or the damage output, or the secondary effect, it's the time before effect. Every power in the game has a period between when the power is activated and when the power actually does something. This is for animation time before effect, and it's specifically for synchronization between animations. So you press a key, the power is activated, the animation plays, then the power does "a thing". KM's attacks tend to have longer times before effect than comparable attacks from other sets. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=scrapper_melee.kinetic_attack.total_focus&at=scrapper That's Concentrated Strike. It has an animation time of 2.833 seconds. It has an animation time before effect of 2.533 seconds. Essentially, it does jack shit until the animation is nearly complete. Also of note, this attack doesn't crit like other T9 attacks. It has a flat 20% chance to reset the buff power, Siphon Power. In theory, that's great, because it means you could build an attack chain that used CS frequently enough to keep the buff active for significantly more time than a standard Build Up. In practice, it's shit, because you're actively slowing yourself down in an effort to nab that sweet crit reset, and because Power Siphon's animation time is twice as long as Build Up's. So most people just skip CS and focus on the "faster" attacks. https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=scrapper_melee.kinetic_attack.smashing_blow&at=scrapper And they're still hamstringing themselves. Note that Smashing Blow's time before effect is 0.033 seconds longer than the animation time. Yeah, it takes longer than the animation to get to the dealing damage part. Consequently, the stacking +Damage from the buff power is slower to build and more prone to lapsing, corpse-blasting is significantly more common, and there is no "good" attack chain with KM. It was designed for form over function, flash and dazzle instead of blood and guts, Karate Kid III kata instead of Karate Kid crane kick. It's slo-mo Co* combat, but the slo-mo effect only affects the player character. It needs the animations revised so it can use reasonable times before effect. Simply slapping Build Up in place of Siphon Power wouldn't resolve the problems, it needs to function like a proper melee set, with attacks that land before the animations have completed. The stalker version isn't reputed to be better only because it has Build Up, it's the quick Assassin's Strike that sells it. It's not just fast, it also has an animation time before effect that doesn't last the entire duration of the attack. That's what the other versions of KM need to be competitive.

What would be the most annoying thing to find in an AE mission?
