Random Presence Pool + Invention Enhancement Thought
Luminara replied to megaericzero's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Citing an example of something you didn't like being done as the thing to do doesn't support your position. Nor would shitcanning Pacify "fix" the pool for the majority of people who avoid it, because Pacify isn't what's making them avoid it. The Presence pool is disliked because it has three different status effects, none of which are synergistic, and players are required to take at least two non-synergistic powers in order to work up through the tiers. They don't complement one another in any way, and the Taunt, when it works, actively opposes the goal of causing enemy action to pause momentarily... the pool's a clusterfuck. That's why we ignore it. And before you get any more attached to that Confuse you want, take a long, hard look at blasters' and masterminds' Possess in the new Dark Mastery APPs, which drops a shit-ton of debuffs (30% -Damage, -Defense, -Endurance, -ToHit, -Movement, -Special) on the caster. For 30 seconds. And after having been reported as a bug twice, it still hasn't been changed, nor anything said by the developers regarding this, implying that it's supposed to be that way. You should understand the powers structuring of the game by now, with power pools being at the bottom, so you should also realize a power pool Confuse would have to be even worse. So if you did succeed in having Pacify taken away from the players who use it (which would be a dick move), all you'd get in return would be an even less useful power. You wouldn't be able to stack it with anything (unlike Pacify, which can be stacked with Misdirection), you wouldn't be able to stack it with itself (the APP Possesses don't), and you probably wouldn't even be able to survive after using it, since the self-debuffs would almost certainly be stronger. Intimidate changed to be available at level 4 and Invoke Panic set to one power prerequisite so it wouldn't feel like deliberately hamstringing yourself when you went deeper into the pool. That's all the Presence pool needs. -

That's a display issue that goes back to when catalysts were added. IO tooltips were never updated to display their real value when attuned. The power's actual stats, and the game engine itself, use the capped IO value.

I have a build capable of reaching 70 mph without a travel power. If I did that with a power set like Electric Armor, or sentinel /Bio, or a Bane, even faster. A Kinetics character can cap Run or Jump speed, for him/herself and everyone else, without travel powers. So while an event which restricts travel powers is plausible, it wouldn't have the expected effect unless numerous other powers, all +Movement set bonuses and all relevant temp powers were also restricted. And it probably wouldn't be a very well-liked event, considering that this is a superhero/villain game, and being able to fly, teleport, leap tall buildings in a single bound or run so fast that you're a blur are kind of a foundation of superheroes/villains. Being The Flash would suck hairy yak balls without super speed, for example. "I went AFK for 4 hours while someone power-leveled me to 50" would be a perfect title for that badge, don't you think?

Near-constant crashes, game is virtually unplayable.

Sounds like heat buildup to me. Dust buildup, fan not working properly, something blocking airflow. That would be the first thing I'd check. -
Chris Evans back for Avengers: Doomsday
Luminara replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
MCU Sitcom: Death is actually being sent to another universe, and the entire show is them trying to cope with it, but failing constantly because different universe = different rules. Like, Black Widow is arrested for going ape-shit on a robber at the local grocery store, Cap and Stark have to bail her out and she has to discuss her anger management issues with a therapist; Cap is constantly having trouble with the government wanting to suspend his pension because "being dead for a year is a popular tax dodge"; Stark discovers that his legal name in this universe actually is Tony Stank, and he's desperate to change it but runs afoul of bureaucratic foul-ups. Goddamn, I should be a producer. Someone hire me. -

HC needs to develop a policy on memorials.
Luminara replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Set up a system to automatically access the accounts of players who haven't logged in within a pre-determined period of time, sort by most played, use their favorite characters' names and costumes during zombie apocalypses. If they log in again (i.e. still alive), automatically remove their character from the apocalypse. No, I'm not a sociopath, and no, I'm not trying to be amusing. This is impartial, it's practical and it's interactive. Anything else will inevitably lead to bitching because this memorial NPC isn't in <location>, or that memorial NPC isn't at the front of the crowd, or that other player didn't receive a memorial NPC at all. So make everyone zombies. That would be thematic and engaging, and give equal representation to everyone, regardless of notoriety or popularity. -
Oh... my... god, Becky.

@Uun, because he runs a private server just so he can vivisect powers and see how they work. @UberGuy, because City of Data is orgasmic. @RubyRed, because she created the API that deciphers the game's files into a readable format so people like @UberGuy and @Michiyo can do their things. @Michiyo, because Homecoming Wiki is orgasmic. And she runs her own game server, too. And she created the mod program half of you are using. And she made an easily accessible archive of the original forums. @AboveTheChemist, because he's the one keeping Vidiotmaps current, popmenuing the shit out of things (his beta server freebie menu is superb) and taking care of stray cats. @Shenanigunner, because he's documented everything he's ever tried or read in or about the game. @BlackSpectre, because he goes balls-deep into commands and options, then tells everyone about it. @BillyMailman, because he just tests and tests and tests. He's like a volunteer lab rat... hopefully one that doesn't leave a trail of urine everywhere he goes, but one I'd still respect even if he did. From a distance. Through a gas mask. Warily.

Well, we're not talking about a defender or a corruptor here, an archetype which might use it more as a debuff tool than an enabler for their other attacks. We're talking about sentinels. Damage dealers. You're going to attack after dropping Storm Cell, not slink to the back of the group and hide, so it is going to deal damage. Citing conditionals is utterly irrelevant in this context. You are going to attack, so it is going to deal damage. Even if you don't want it to deal damage, it will. So it does qualify as a damage dealing power from a developmental perspective. The fact that it will continue to deal damage even after you stop attacking, and even if you move away from it, reinforces that. No-one in the powers department is going to look at this thread and think, "Yeah, we should totally increase the range on that long duration mobile rain power because it's actually a debuff in disguise."

Chris Evans back for Avengers: Doomsday
Luminara replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Good to see that he wore traditional Chinese clothing, moved out of Canada and issued his complaints in his native tongue, so it was clear that he wasn't just trying to stir up a bunch of shit to get attention. Oh, wait... -
Chris Evans back for Avengers: Doomsday
Luminara replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
What happened to Simu Liu? Goog says he's not dead and there's nothing coming up about a scandal. -
Last time I looked, sentinels had scrapper-quality damage mitigation and could easily handle being attacked while using powers, so they don't actually "need" a longer range on anything. Also last time I looked, Storm Cell dealt damage, and that's very likely to keep it in the 40' base range camp.

Sony cancels the Spiderverse films

Sony: "We were in the movie theaters with someone's mom researching movies right before she died." Everyone: "..." Sony: "..."
