  1. The secondaries your asking about i have no experience with my beasts. I've never used nature but, thermal I've used to great success on other builds.

Buffs, heals, and debuffs you can't go wrong.

I have seen posts about nature and cold with beasts, but, nothing about any higher lvl progression. You could always search the MM forum for any other threads.

Or do a build on Mids see what it looks like strengths/weaknesses, then post on here for feedback.

I went sonic just to try out to see if it could work and I'm still low lvl so the jury is still out.

Just because I'm a nerd, I'll chime on this one. Couple of suggestions 😄

    Tier 1 (Summon Adventurer)

Archer, Archer and Rogue (Rogue is a stalker with dual blades)

    Tier 2 (Summon Warriors)

Knight and Paladin (Knight specializes in buff auras, Paladin has heal auras)

    Tier 3 (Summon Warlock)

Warlock (mix of damage and some control, ala Demon Prince)

That's cool, honestly I just want Goblin Horde. Make it perma and have the lil buggers swarming everything.

  3. A fantasy set, 3 archers, 2 knights, and a wizard.

Has "Goblin Horde" power like Thug War, but, uses skins from Red caps.

Archers would be ranged with arrow attacks plus web arrow and in melee have sword slash attack.

Knights would be all melee with heals like Grave Knights.

Wizard would be all ranged attacks (fire, cold, electric) and buffs.

Primary would be spells cast at lvl 1, 2, 8.

Call Archers at lvl 1, Summon Knights at lvl 12, and Invoke Wizard at 26.

Weapon training at lvl 6 and Enchant at lvl 32. Goblin Horde at lvl 18.

    Embrace your inner D&D nerd!!!

Ok, I'm up to about 4 fire farmers now:    I have a Rad/Fire,   Fire/Fire,  SS/Fire,  and Claws/Fire.      The Rad still wins hands down thus far.

I know Rad and Spines are still considered king of the hill as far as farming, but I like to try other things just for the heck of it.

I've been looking at either Dark/Fire or Street Justice/Fire.   ( no interest in Spines atm until I think of a character concept that I'm happy with )

Anyone have any experience with either of these combinations and have a good build they can share?   Thanks.

My wife runs an Ele/FA broot and likes it. Its not as fast as rad/.

Yeah it's the beta server where they do all the open testing.

You can autolevel characters to 50, give them IOs/incarnates/etc for free. It's good for testing out character combos to see what works.

    See here:

Hell AA thanks for what I consider going above and beyond with the help and advice.

I don't care what anyone says people who PVP (not fiteclubbers lol) are the most helpful people.

Dark Melee can be good on scrappers in 1v1s and Fightclub. The -tohit pairs well with elusivity, it has a heal, and the T1 and T2 attacks are short enough to get 3 off in the +50% ATO crit window of 3.25 seconds. A DM/EA Scrapper just won a 1v1 tournament over on Everlasting.

Dark Melee isn't so hot for 8v8s and general zone play, though. (AKA the majority of PVP in this game.)

I figured possibly 1v1 was good, but, considering most of my action is zones was my question.

Unless its SG related arena night I couldn't bring myself to making a toon with DM.

Although now I'm working on a Psi/Nrg broot, I guess we'll see how that goes.

think there's a DR calculator in the pinned "PvP resources" thread but I'm not entirely sure. Either way, +/-tohit starts to DR pretty heavily after about 20% - if I have 20% tohit bonus that DRs to around 15% and if I have 40% tohit bonus that DRs to around 23%. 60% bonus DRs to about 27-28%, and these numbers work the same whether it's a buff or debuff.

EDIT: I see you also mentioned Touch of Fear. Base fear duration on a Scrapper is 2 seconds in PvP so even enhanced you're looking at a little less than 4 seconds before factoring in any mez resistance your opponent has, and once that fear wears off they're going to be in mez suppression for 15 seconds. Not saying it's bad especially if you don't have any other mezzes, but it's not going to perma-terrorize

Yeah i see what your talking about on DR hitting harder on the higher numbers.

I automatically assumed there was perma nothing control wise, I didn't know about the 15 sec suppression though, although I can see why this exists. Who wants to be on permanent lockdown and carrying a tray of breakfrees.

What a second though, how does this affect MM pets? Do they experience the same thing?

They would have to, if they weren't they would be OP.

@reib posted the link but... -tohit is subject to diminishing returns at the same scale as +tohit (starts getting really difficult to maintain more than +/-20%) and IIRC every melee armor set gets something like 30% tohit debuff resistance for free if they don't get it naturally in-set.

Thanks Mac, the diminishing returns is what I'm unfamiliar with.

I signed up and already started reading up on all the info.

DM is kinda crap since Soul Drain is a piss-poor replacement for Build Up, and SR isn't bad but Energy is a better defense-based secondary in just about every way.

I figured the -to hit from the attacks would've been beneficial and touch of fear. Mac is there any discord/link that covers the info I'm looking for instead of pestering people and waiting on a response?

  10. What are good powersets? I saw the link for builds but that doesn't cover alot of possible builds.

Who's better out of the melee ATz or is it more of a pro/con per AT.

To me from what I have been reading a DM/SR scrapper would be formidable, or am I off base into what I'm thinking.

Because, of a certain thread in General that got me thinking about coming back, I played pre I13 on Triumph on a NB/SR stalker and a rad/rad corr in SC, and had a blast laying waste to the fire/psi/archery nrg blasters.

Btw to all who posted all the links and discord info thanks.

  11. Millie my 14 yr old Westie, I got her 2 yrs ago. BECAUSE, she was owned by an 84 yr old woman who's family wanted to put her down because the lady couldn't take care of her.

Not on my watch, she's been the best laziest craziest flump I've ever had.

With respect Warpact, those are pretty big words considering your previous statement. While you are right, it can "go both ways" as far as toxicity goes, but I do think that is the minority on both sides. Also I do like to think that in my post, as well as my brief interactions with you I was respectful. More or less I just said "Its not my thing. But I don't mind people who do enjoy it." I even offered a detailed suggestion to the OP about how they might go about getting attention and new people by making a pvp focused supergroup that doesn't just gank or duel, but also teaches.

But my main point I wanted to say, is that if you want to be seen differently, you also have to act differently. If I wanted to be in an environment where I could be ganked while questing or while doing my own thing, I would likely be playing a different game with more tools for that gameplay.

On a personal note, I don't appreciate the insinuation that people who dont enjoy PVP are scared/emotional/or take things personal. I could make the claim that Pvpers just want more victims/easy targets to harass and to troll. Both statements are petty and beneath everyone involved. And your statements, as well as those like it, probably don't come off as particularly welcoming to fellow players who might be interested in the gameplay you and others are so passionate about.

    Food for thought.

I dont see where you think i was referencing you in any way, I did however reference another poster as being negative.

I however when I say anything or better yet share anything is based on actual events and/or people in situations that have occurred.

While, it is nothing specific in this thread there is an underlying tone in some people posts that hint at it but, thats just conjecture.

I have seen people melt down in zones, forums, broadcast, etc and oft times then not it is they take it wwwaaayyyy to personally and that is an emotional response.

I have also seen people who don't like to be competitive, fear of failure, are introverts, etc, etc.

To each their own, my post was just an observation to the OP on things he possibly might not have thought of on some of the reactions that he has been receiving.

For the most part everyone has been fantastic and offered some form of thought on the subject but, like you said there is a "minority" that just are negative for a whole host of reasons and once again it would be conjecture on my part on the "why".

I don't pvp, I haven't since I13, but. the OP struck a cord in me and thats why I have retained some longevity in the thread. I would like for him to succeed enough to make him happy even though I don't know him.

In closing we had good interaction prior to this and lets keep it at that, there are bad seeds in everything and on both sides of this. We fortunately are not them.

Considering the stigma pvp has, how could we get some of the anti crowd to try it?

My preference is zone play.  I know the arena crowd has tried super hard to get more involvement.

Just curious what might make someone try it.

You should have clarified "as it is now" and "within reason". Just by some of the responses.

Regardless, if it takes a certain build style, training, game mechanics, tactics, etc.

Its going to fall to people, one, you get excuses of every sort, and two, people are scared/take it personal/whatever other emotional response that prevents them to trying.

Perhaps they got jumped in zone while badging, now they take it personal and all pvpers are griefers, I've seen equal builds go toe to toe and there is a winner because, one person is better than the other. Besides, you cannot have equal when AT's and people are different. See the excuses can go on and on.

There is a multitude of responses, and obviously the forums is a microcosm of the actual game. So don't lose faith, will it ever be a huge success compared to pve, of course not. But, with new people coming into the game there lies your salvation, new gamers are used to pvp, not people who are set in there ways that have been here for a long time.

I salute you for your attempt obviously you are passionate about this and would like some success. But, remember you cannot lead a horse to water no matter how much you try to help.

  14. My and my VG mates used vent back on live and now use teamspeak. All of us with the exception of one do not team with anyone else we only team with each other.

I wont use Discord as I found out yesterday what it is and find it intrusive and overreaching.

If I do TF's its either solo or with my VG, I find I'm rather judgmental of people and it would ruin mine and their experiences if we were teamed together.

Whew.. thank goodness for that. I know its not going on now, and I don't know if that even was a thing before, but gotta say, that is a doozy. 100% not my thing. No hard feelings against those that did want that, but I would have been very put out if it was 100% applied to everyones base. So horray for "Opt In's"?

Just like any pvp in CoX you have to choose to join, whether it be arena, base raid, and if you go into a pvp zone.

I didnt even know that base raiding used to be a thing. If someone came into my base, and completely thrashed what might have spent weeks if not months making, for what, and hour of pvp content? I would probially immediately quit. And I am pretty sure I am not the only one who would feel that way. Basebuilding more or less feels like a home, or a private space. Having a bunch of randoms storm in and wreck the place would feel like a violation not just of my time and effort, but also of my personal area. That very much should be an "opt into" system, not an "all bases are fair game". Becuase yes, it might be exciting for the pvpers at first, but after the first time it happened, I wouldn't build anything ever again. Not if someone else can just come along and wreck it. And yes, the higher skilled/bigger pvp people would quickly over run the smaller groups or non pvp groups. And I don't see many people being gluttons for punishment, not if their base is getting wrecked once a week or so.

Which sort of leads me to why I dont like PVP. There are some respectful duelers out there, but please remember - what tools you give one group of people, you give to all. There would be nothing stopping a group of PVP griefers who like nothing better than to ruin other peoples day and playtime. In some games the entire PVP crowd can be quite toxic. (I hasten to add I make no claims that our pvpers are like that! Only the possibility certainly exists.)

I guess what I am trying to say is, is that if a Pvper goes around griefing and ganking people who don't want to be involved whilest doing the "mocking jig", I suspect he would quickly run out of people willing to be victims. A few might try to get some payback certainly. But as for me and my group of friends, well, we would likely quit in droves. I don't care to play a game that enables and even rewards griefers. Or lets people who simply want to play/farm/adventure/rp in their own little way do it.

You can't shove people who want different things into a sandbox and go "now you two be nice", expecting them to happilly go back and forth. And be shocked when some of them just quit and move to a different playground.

Base raiding should not be a compulsary thing. I have no qualms against other groups of people staging them, but there should be a safety switch for people who dont want their stuff messed with.

Its not or was not an automatic thing, an SG leader had to opt in for it to occur.

    I disagree.

My issues with the base raid system had to do with the fact that a large Supergroup could easily demolish a small supergroup's base.

Also the random timing of raids allowed supergroups with people on around the clock to demolish bases of those that couldn't have enough players on to defend their base during the raid time.

So this would lead to supergroups to not participate because they didn't have enough players/round-the-clock-coverage to protect their bases. This meant fewer people being involved in base raid and here weren't large number of players playing PVP in general.

I can see why the stopped putting resources into the base raid system.

Again, I can see why some would like to destroy other people's bases.

Maybe you found enjoyable to try to stop other people from destroying your base. I don't have details so I don't know.

Which one is it? Is Warbug the one that has the turrets and the Iconic encounters? That was the most enjoyable PVP for me. The NPCs and turrets added a balancing factor that allowed smaller groups to function in the environment to have an enjoyable experience with some PVP mixed in.

I haven't PVP in THE CITY since I've been back.

I don't really have time for it.

It isn't the most enjoyable content in the game to me.

I thought I would input on the thread as to the aspect that would make me more likely to PVP and why I don't PVP in THE CITY.

We only matched with SG/VG that were our size and set up when both could be available with enough members.

We didn't trash a base, only took out what needed destroyed ie defenses, turrets, etc, of course the dimensional warders and any items of power. Mostly it was a slugfest or defend our stuff.

Did what you said happen to others, sure I knew of 2 VG's that the members were aholes but thats in any game/life/etc.

The best PvP aspect that they created for this game was the base raiding system. Too bad they never could get it to work well enough and abandoned it

Back on Triumph the VG I was in used to do base raids all the time, ssssssoooo fun I miss it.

A fair assessment. The something you missed is people having other preferences for how they prefer their ears to spend their limited time per day.

Music >> Silence >> Having strangers shit-talk through my speakers

is my personal preference hierarchy here.

Ok so its just open communication between both sides?

Its not like vent or teamspeak with a dedicated channel for a team?

I have no experience with Discord, my VG uses teamspeak and during Live we used Vent.

So unless someone typed something on broadcast or a tell we had no communication with the other side.

  20. Ok I must be missing something whats the deal if you use Discord, Vent, or Teamspeak.

Its the fastest way to convey info and coordinate tactics. Trying to type while in the middle of getting attacked, attacking, etc just seems....stupid.

    I must have missed something.
