Ok, solo I suppose but in a team the adds are gonna be blown away anyways... -

(still on mobile) One thing that concerns me with the detention working on AVs is that they still regen while detained. Removing an AV from our effects could theoretically be detrimental as they heal up or use self boosts -

On mobile, bigger reply later ~ Just want to point out to @Corruptionthat it is AoE kb that is gross. Force Bolt is controlled knockback on 1 target, Repulsion Bomb is knock-down, and lastly Repulsion Field requires the bubbler to actually bowl into enemies which is kinda lulz but also incredibly punishing on the bubbles end bar to try. -
Make Energy Melee great again

I think if EM had something like Assassin's Focus... that would make sense. Stalkers had a similar problem as an AT where they relied heavily on Assassin's Strike... which halted all momentum. Much like how ET / TF work. If EM had like, the dominator /nrg gimmick of powering up you could "spend" that on like an instant ET or such? -
I would say it is a point of balance if the power level of the average player has drastically shifted. That means as a whole the content designed for SO's has become easier than intended if the vast majority of players (emphasis on if this is vast, ie more than 70%) are using IO's in any capacity, which past lvl 25 are flat out better than SO's

If there were more places where actually moving people into a spot = win that'd be a huge gamechanger. Currently, you end up moving people out of the danger zone most of the time.

This circles back to: what is the average player building? Inventions are promoted all the time by the game by getting recipes and salvage that you can look at as a casual player by just snooping around your menus and figure out how to make. The Help Channels, FB, discord, forums here and so on also promote IO's. When you hit 50, you also automatically start getting incarnate EXP by playing the game so people would naturally go to that. Does this mean everyone is building IO'd to the gills characters with t4 incarnate everything? God no Does this mean a sizeable portion just ignore everything actively and stick to just what drops in their ENH tray / Stores? Also probably no The truth is probably in the middle somewhere where people probably have 1-2 mains that they incarnate out, and load up with a few sets + the useful procs / uniques, and then a bunch of other characters similarly "Lightly" Slotted with at least stuff like Perf Shifter and such. If this is the case, the average power level of the game has indeed gone up at the "Basic" level of player, and swapping to SO only is an active challenge mode akin to the examples of Zelda speedruns and such that is not exactly something to balance around.

The more I ponder this, the more I think this could be emulated in a better way by having enemies boost each other in minuscule ways. Like, each enemy has essentially micro-leadership that gives each other 0.5% Acc, Damage, and Defense. 10 enemies in a group all then get +5% to all that, which makes them hit a scootch harder overall and pushes the soft cap to 50%, which puts value on support sets that boost defense in today's meta as well as debuffing enemies / taking out targets. 20 enemies in a mob of course push this all to 10%, or if we wanna go the advanced route we could have rank increase these bonuses to 0.5 for minion, 1% for LT, 2% for boss to make ST specialists valued as well.

The Philotic Knight's Buff Force Fields 1.0!

That is true, it's been a bit since I've messed with rep field so I thought I remembered it working more like a damage aura in conjunction with how force bubble works. Hmmm... given how it does work (almost like a recoil from swiping at the bubbler) what if it was also turned into a damage ability....? Swipe at the bubbler, you get newton's law applied to you and take damage and get yeeted? -

My question then is, why not both? Add an absorb layer that would do much more than increasing the +def would to the shields in the current meta. Make FB and RB do "real" damage on top of their control aspects so that you contribute significantly while the team is safely bubbled. That covers 5 / 9 powers right there, with PFF being pretty good already that leaves only 3 to look at potentially: Detention Field needs... something. Phase powers are often sorta questionable. Force Bubble, if changed the way Philotic wants, would be in a weird design space where it does sorta the same thing as repulsion field? -
I think I'd like to see shield used too, to use the shield auras 🙂

Yes! KB doesnt feel super in CoH, launching a guy should be an impact, not a minor setback for the guy

I'd love elementals to be a set using Rocky, Jack, Imps, etc

1) Why not? 2) You underestimate our slotting potential 😛 -
Honestly, a "Warriors" theme is well overdue with all the weapon sets we got 😛

But... the game does Edit: That response was kind of crass, but the DnD comparison has an issue here when comparing to a Video Game: the Human Element. In DnD you have 100% control of "what" you do and how to do it in ways that circumvent traditional game mechanics. In DnD, your creativity can allow you to attack anything with any weapon at your disposal, not just the NPCs in front of you. Wanna cut the rope holding the chandelier? Wanna break opena door and go in? Wanna try to talk it out with the enemies instead of fight? You can do all that with the same character in DnD albeit with the dice gods having influence on how the story progresses, but even then the DM / etc can change everything on a whim with little restriction. A Video Game does not have that luxury, and under the hood it really is ruled by a "spreadsheet". Loot Tables, NPC Spawns, the health they have, what attacks they use, etc, etc, etc, are all run by a script and a table that essentially works out to a fancy spreadsheet. So, when it comes to the general combat of the game outside of very special objectives, its like running a function in a spreadsheet.

The Philotic Knight's Buff Force Fields 1.0!

The positional and soft control powers are nice, but they are more dynamic than the shields. How does adding another layer of mitigation alter how FF plays? Youd still apply shields and run the big bubble with just extra layers of comfort. -

Galaxy Brain replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If it gets soft control and damage, then it has to compete with storm and control powers, which normally it would stand out against with its defense. Given the meta where most people have tons of defense, adding another mitigation layer thematic to FFs only in how it could potentially be constantly present would let it be much more unique while still retaining the same flavor atop the defense. FF doesnt offer absolute protection where RNG can get through it, refreshing absorb does just this by saying X amount of damage cannot harm me. -
Way more complex than just altering KB, and not only melee is effected by other people knocking dudes out of auras and stuff

Galaxy Brain replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Absorb if its constantly reapplied is far less like healing than it is a preventative barrier to damage. If you say, constantly refresh 100pts of absorb every 3 seconds, then for every bit if damage that comes in within those windows you subtract 100 from since if it hit you it has to eat through that layer first. If we apply the same logic to the force fields, hits that get through the defense of the FF still get negated by the FF to a degree. -
Making *new pets from scratch* sure, but what about organizing controller pets into a set?
