But seriously, why was it moved? Was there a story reason, or what?

I like the changes to the pets in Mercs there. Troops moving into melee range was quite simply contrary to what they were supposed to be; removal of melee alone and replaced with some low yield range power would make Mercs better, Bayonet charges are just not a thing any more. Spinning the medic off as a separate things I like as he cannot attack which makes him essentially a buff power or a different take on the Hell On Earth, Gang War separate pet summons. I am not so keen on the whole Commando summoning soldiers, I would rather he get more shoot in his arsenal. But yeah. As for customization of looks, I agree with pretty much everyone in this thread about not tying it to costumes (though I am not a costume person) and it not being kluged together.

Soldier. Why, because he was my first and you always remember your first even if you are disappointed by their performance.

So Like Snarky this is also my experience. Back on live on Freedom I was in the Babes of War and for the majority of those years its was what you would want. Consistent teams, ability to do difficult content, plus friendship, camaraderie and fun. I mean there was a point were 8 or nine of us from the DC/NORVA/MD area met up in Baltimore, had a great lunch talking about game and RL and drank beers and got silly. In-game there was the playing of the game but also the simple silly things like chatting and cracking wise for 30 minutes before jumping to smash the Envoy of Shadows. However the last year of live was not fun. Total Drama Island erupted in the group and there was a metric ton of un-cool stuff happening and by this time I was one of the leaders of the group so I had to spend most of my time sorting out the stupid, breaking up fights and trying to keep the group together. I ceased being fun and conversely I ceased teaming. I would log on and deal with issues then I would hide so I wouldn't be spotted and I PUGged a lot because I still wanted to play but I couldn't stand a lot of my SG Mates. I created a second account so I could play without being recognized. Yet I also felt bad and missed my few friends that were still playing. Then the game was shut down and I moved on, at first a few of us went to Champions Online but that game sucks once you leave character creation. I got an E-Mail or two from certain members of the group asking how things were. The that stopped shortly thereafter, we moved on. When I found out about the SCoRE servers and then Homecoming I immediately came back and made core promises to myself; to do the good things I did on live and not do the bad things. So I embraced archetypes I hated back in the day (mostly melee types), I PUGged as much as possible and didn't get twisted about semi-sucky teams (Sucky teams still get a full barrel), I don't obsess over badges (too much) because they used to lead to me getting mad when the badge getting failed. And as a whole, the experience was good. But the social aspect was missing and that is an important element. I don't mean standing around in Atlas Park for an hour chatting in General making comments (though it has its place) I mean running around fighting bad guys and in those few seconds or minutes in between making a witty remark, or responding to someone's witty remark or congratulating someone leveling or just hearing someone say anything that isn't a spam rant. Like Snarky I found a SG on Excelsior, the Girls of Nukem High and I am a happy player because of it. They remind me of the good things of the SG I was in on live yet aren't them so its like being young in the game again. We have scheduled fun events (though not as many as Snarky's group) and whenever I am on I am guaranteed to find a group of Nukems and their allies on who I can immediately team with and I always have fun. We sock evil in the eye and make jokes and have fun. I eventually also joined another SG at the same time, a pirate themed SG comprised mostly of members from Nukem or other SGs we are allies with (here are like 8 I think) and we just run around doing missions and acting piratey because its fun. Do I still PUG? Yes because sometimes you aren't going to get someone who wants to run through a specific Task Force again with me just because I have yet another alt I am running up and they just want to finish their main. But almost every night I get a solid three hours in of just SG/Ally fun. Find a SG because the worst thing that can happen is you don't like it yet you have lost nothing. But you might find one that sticks. PUGs aren't evil, they just aren't as good as SG teams. Remember the Suicide Squad are essentially a PUG, they are forced to team up because of circumstances and most wouldn't care if you were on fire. The Justice League is a SG because they want to be.

For the record, older is generally better with regards to most things. But its not about the way things used to be, get off my lawn kind of nostalgia. It's about experience and enough time having passed to allow lessons to be learned, kinks to be worked out and a better, final product delivered. New software comes out and there may be bugs, but over time as it gets older (mature), is becomes stable and people become accustomed to it. That is why when the new comes out there is so much push back. It applies to everything; games, people, politics. Older is better but also means listening and learning about the new in order to improve. New becomes old real quick, ask MySpace, or Facebook, or in a few years Twitter, they were all toys of the young but soon became tools of the old.

That was my signature character High Beam. And zero melee powers taken to boot! OMG now I have to re-roll my beloved cliche.

On a related note, Cheesecake Factory is a terrible place to eat anything at.

I only update to a new OS when I absolutely have no other choice; as in a significant piece of software I need to use is incapable of running on the machine(s) I have.

Oh my, sir or maam you just made my day and me a little bit tingly thinking about my Demon/Dark MM and the changes I am gonna make 🙂

AR/Devices - I had two on live, at the same time, both level 50, one male and one female. Like it was going to end up differently because I stopped playing them before Set IOs and Incarnates. There was no story, no reason for it other than guns and stuff. For a couple of years I desperately hoped they would develop something like a Grenades secondary (I still do since they could be like trick arrow excuse me tactical arrow but different) so I could roll a new one. Oh yeah then add to that the Mercs/Traps MM, aka soft AR/Dev Blaster because extra assault rifle from your mercs. I was a cliché. Well except that I didn't make Punisher clones. Munitions Mistress still holds a soft place in my heart however. I rolled an Emp/Psi not because of the reasons mentioned by Nemu but because I had a best friend in game who ran an emp/psi and when she left I created one in her honor.

Since this power applies to Corruptors, Defenders, MMs and Controllers I thought I would ask it here because I cannot find a clear answer; Does it require there be a dead ally to activate or can you fire it without it? I know it talks about certain aspects of having to be near the fallen ally to rez, but doesn't say if the other aspects of the power (i.e. the debuff and stun) will still go off if there is no fallen ally, as in using it for non-rez purposes?.

What's missing in the character creator?
High_Beam replied to Jack Power's topic in General Discussion
I know many have been said but volume speaks louder than validity sometimes. Back items: Sword sheaths (with and without generic handles); single sword or double, other low-profile jump pack concepts (like the Vanguard one), rifle cradles (Champions Online had one). Obviously a few more pistol and rifle options. But really some "power gauntlet" kinds of things to allow symmetry with projected powers. I mean really it would seem like it would be just tying a combat aura" trigger to a color schema on a costume piece in order to make it fire up when shooting flames or energy or etcetera. Would really love options for thigh pieces. Armor appliques, Low thigh holsters (single or dual), thigh pouches (no Rob Liefeld jokes). I could go all day but yeah, those are most pressing to my pea brain. -
The worst thing you can do? Step on a caltrop in bare feet. Have scissors in your hands near a Ruin Mage. Wear suede booties on a sewer mission. Eat Hellfire Tacos and expect stealth to remain effective. Take fashion advice from Clamor. Oh the worst is people who feel the need to make their political or social commentary statements in chat. Don't care who you vote for or who you wouldn't vote for. Don't care about your race, religion, gender (or lack thereof). I play the game to have fun. Want to tell bad jokes, cool. Bad musical puns, awesome. References to pop culture, excello. Rant about Political X or Religious Y or Gender Z --> Ignore. There are places for that you can go to to express yourself but its not in a fantasy game land of people who shoot lasers from their eyes.

I wasn't a fan either. Not a good franchise.

I love mine and only this weekend did I slot any Set IOs or actually take the time to do the Incarnate creation, that's how much fun I have had with Di Di Guns. Yes I have died a few times but I am a Blaster who is blapping, but to be honest, it hasn't happened a lot. A poster asked about attack chain and here is mine: Burst of Speed, Scorpions Tail, jump back Empty Clips, Bullet Rain, Repeat. If the Alpha is up then Burst of Speed, Hail of Bullets, Scorpion's Tail, jump back Empty Clips (and sometimes another Bullet Rain) the survivors then go from there. Melts most mobs then I engage the Boss with Dual Wield, Executioners shot and Eagle's Claw. And that was before I build up my Defense through Set IO. Its just a blast to play, pun intended. Remember there is a +DEF from firing off Hail so the quickness of BoS-->Hail prevents alot of the return fire from connecting then Scorpion's Tail puts them on their hinders while you flip back out and hit em with the cone. Its glorious. It makes me tingly!

Map Servered.. How many until calling it a day?
High_Beam replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
This is where I sit. Are they a pain in the buttocks, sure. But the fact is I have a CoH server to play on that has a pretty decent number of players on to where I find more teams than I did on live (Freedom). Now the spamming of farming requests and such are annoying but a few mapserver incidents I can deal with because the HC people aren't doing this as their full time job. Now am I saying I am not moving a few of my more seasoned alts to another server so I can play when Excelsior goes Tango Uniform again, I am not. Most of the mapserver incidents were short, much shorter than the guy who decides to go AFK in mission just before completion or takes a billion years to zone for a TF start. -
Cherry Pie is the only pie, all others are pie pretenders, especially any pie that includes a vegetable or nut in it. That's right pumpkin and pecan, you are sad pies, mournful pies really. Also it is the name of the greatest stripper anthem ever so its like getting extra cherry pie with your cherry pie. Imagine the sad panda version, "she's my pumpkin pie, nasty tasting veggie gonna make you die, tastes so bad make a grown man cry, ick pumpkin pie." Jani Lane (RIP) would be weeping.

Wentworth's is now claiming global supply chain issues due to COVID. This is sounding more and more like a Nemesis plot.

I have one . . . for now.

Right now Wentworth's looks like a Walmart just before the Hurricane arrives in Florida.

A Pretty Damned Spectacular Guide on Leveling with IOs and IO Sets
High_Beam replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Guides
Thank you for this. Much of it was news to me. I tend to build my characters in three phases. Level until 30 where I shift to IO, then level to 50 picking up Set IO's that will stay (most if not all show up in your guide) and finally the level 50 now it gets real build. This is why Builds I see in the various threads are at best "someday" builds and I wish more people would post leveling builds. But this guide helps enormously because of your points at levels before 30. I have some real thinking to do. -

Forgive my ignorance here but where do you select "attuned" in the buy process, or how does that even happen. The Homecoming Wiki says But doesn't get into the how part. -
I have seen and read a lot of things in my life. 20 years in the Navy pretty much dulled any WTF moments I could possibly have, but this post, it's mind bogglingly stunning because I cannot figure out what the hell is going on. There are like fifty different thought threads dangling and none of them, none of them correlate! Its the Lament Configuration Puzzle of CoH.
